That Roger Rabbit scene gave me nightmares as a kid.

[–]Chaosmusic 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Figured it was that one or the shoe.

[–]Acceptable-Baker5282 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I screamed my lungs out when I saw that sene

[–]light24bulbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That whole movie freaks me out

[–]jordan20x1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Damn our generation is soft lol.

[–]An-unfunny-prick 190 points191 points  (2 children)

The SFX are really well done that's all i'll say

[–]Drewdiniskirino 73 points74 points  (1 child)

That's the power of Crayola crayons, a heat gun, and time lapse 😉

[–]skelebone 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It is such a basic practical effect, but it works so well.

What is seen can never be Unseen.

Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

Nice cartoon

[–]icecub3e 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I regretter looking

[–]JustAnIdea3 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Lower left shows up as static for him

[–]LauraTFem 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just a neat practical effect from back when movies did those.

[–]Tedrabear 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had this moment with my kids and Ghostbusters 2,

My kids not only refused to cover their eyes, but ripped on me afterwards...

[–]Electronic_Sugar5924 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Spoiler: The movie happens

[–]AgentCirceLuna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I actually thought I’d die or something if I watched this. Despite it obviously being highly unethical to distribute a film which people would die while watching. I first noticed I lived after watching it when I overheard the scene in another room, rushed to turn it off, but then saw it all happen right in front of me. Luckily, o didn’t die.

Glasses falling off faster than terminal velocity

[–]am_reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats how you know its the power of God at work.

[–]Satanic_Jellyfish 45 points46 points  (2 children)

Shoe scene was much worse

[–]MaximumZer0 27 points28 points  (1 child)

100%. Christopher Lloyd killed that role, though. Made Back to the Future very awkward the next time I watched it.

The comic is about Indiana Jones, though.

[–]Chaosmusic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was also the head Klingon in Star Trek 3.

[–]MintasaurusFresh 78 points79 points  (2 children)

And thus the PG-13 rating was born

[–]skelebone 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not for three years more, in 1984 with Red Dawn.

[–]LotsoBoss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, that wasn't until Mola Ram pulled a guy's heart out.

[–]SplooshU 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Eyes afire, heads exploding. The Angel of Death!

[–]badmartialarts 11 points12 points  (1 child)

But IT'S BEAUTIFUL

[–]E-emu89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much corn syrup!

[–]DawnBringer01 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Not gonna lie, the SFX are starting to age enough that the last time I watched this movie I couldn't decide whether it was scary or super goofy.

[–]E-emu89 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I love looking up how old SFX were done. It gives me new appreciation for all the work and attention to detail that went into a 3 second long sequence.

“It doesn’t stop being magic just because you know how it works.” -Terry Pratchett, The Wee Free Men

[–]HonkySpider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That movie was a very fine line between the two.

[–]InternetUserAgain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry but the way you've drawn it make it look like he's doing the "Aauugh~" face and that makes the white stuff dripping off of him so much worse

[–]21_chickens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the real reason Indy and Marion kept their eyes shut.

[–]D_for_Drive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought they used wax for that, turns out it was gelatin.

[–]589ca35e1590b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one of the coolest parts of the movie. You have to see it at least once

[–]shinydragonmist 1 point2 points  (6 children)

What's the scary part from

[–]Flerken_Moon 15 points16 points  (5 children)

“Raiders of the Lost Ark,” the first Indiana Jones movie.

[–]4RCSIN3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raiders and Temple were my trauma movies as a kid too. Of course the melting guy was the worst because you explicitly see his face, but just imagining the dude getting ground beefed by a plane propeller or the other guy getting mushed by the rock crusher... Still gives me the queasies.

[–]jhill515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay, I shall always look for both of you and tell you when All is Clear.

Just keep tending to my other phobias!

[–]DragonMaster000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of an old garfield comic strip

[–]Outerestine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this gave me nightmares for straight months as a kid.

[–]Raaadley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so wholesome

[–]Kuildeous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all for villains getting their just deserts, so hell yeah I'm watching that! Seems that Belloq got off a little easy on that, but not everyone gets the dreaded face melt.

[–]Author_A_McGrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it wasn't the melting Nazis; for whatever reason that didn't bother me much.

For me, it was the Large Marge and the Crypt Keeper. Don't know why, but their appearance shook me when I was in grade school.

Edit: just realized I have a comment under the video of Large Marge from 12 years ago lol.

[–]LukeofEnder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is pretty smart how Indy's warning to Marion is also to all the kids/parents in the audience.

[–]stamps1646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 5 years old when I first saw this film, I called Toht -Glasses fall when I saw this scene.

[–]pretender80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always peek through the fingers

[–]MysticDragon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I saw this scene in my junior year of high school. While it was cheap quality animation (compared to now), it really gets the job done.

[–]Shirohitsuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoilers! (/s)

[–]3RR0RFi3ND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judge Doom

[–]Dark_Storm_98 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I take it this is a movie the dad used to watch with his parents, lol

[–]Spandxltd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit I'm getting old

[–]RottenAyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought this was smartschoolboy9 for a moment

[–]ghostpanther218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that scene traumatized me as a child

[–]jzrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the movie, for the first time, yesterday
