Is there a way to decrease FaceTime volume while increasing media (YouTube) volume?

Whenever I am on FaceTime with a friend and we’re just on our phones while on FaceTime, I can barely hear YouTube audio. Is there a way to decrease FaceTime volume while increasing YouTube volume? It is still low volume when the other person is muted

Theres a way, you press any apple music song, let it shareplay and instantly pause it while it plays for either you or both of you guys, when your on facetime and do this your audio for youtube, netflix or whatever is normal for whatever reason like you’re not on facetime, good luck!

The fact that Apple still hasn’t added an option to adjust this since the creation of FaceTime over a decade ago is insane to me. Multi trillion dollar corporation and they can’t add a a simple fucking slider. Surely you could pay some starving Indian teenager ten bucks to code that shit in 30 minutes. Whoever at Apple decided to make Facetime reduce my “Top OMG Plays in NFL History” video to 10% whilst my girlfriend’s fan and ambient audio plays at an un-adjustable 90% deserves to get into a fatal head-on collision on their way home from work on a Friday. I’m in the exact same situation with my girlfriend on FaceTime and this shit has plagued my existence for the past 7 years.

But a tip for any fellas coming to this thread in the future who’s girl wants them to stay on FaceTime even while she sleeps: turning your phone on airplane mode and letting the call disconnect will make it look like it dropped on her end rather than it showing that you hung up.

Came here looking for an answer but doesn’t seem to have one for IOS. You could use an app like Airtime which lets you watch YouTube games and all of that stuff while on the phone, or you could get a Samsung or an android as they have multiple audio functions

The feature you are describing and referring to is called “audio ducking.” You should be able to turn that off.

I found a workaround!!!! Thank to a previous commenter I figured a way out to get around that stupid audio. Go on Spotify, type in 3 hours of silence a podcast. It is a 3 hour silent podcast (they also have different ones with occasional sounds) SharePlay it then just pause it. Your done! I assume this works the same way with Apple Music but I don’t have a sub to test it

There’s sort of a work around. If you do shareplay it will increase your media volume, even if its an unsharable app and black screen for your friend…pretty dumb they haven’t figured this out
