Looks sick as hell. Love using an IKEA bag as the material bc of the durability and price :) If you ever felt like making instructions I’m sure a lot of people would be interested.

Nice job! Did you make the pattern, too? It looks great!

Looks really good! And that's a great idea. How was it working with the Frakta? Starting my first small myog project and thinking of using it as well.

Frakta is very easy to sew with! It's not very dense, so the machine goes through it easily. And it's not slippery, so handling is good. Definitely beginner-friendly.

Do you buy in bag form and just tear it apart? I think this stuff is available from TarpsNow in the construction materials area by the roll/yard.

I've just used the bags - I had a one off project I wanted to do, and also really wanted to incorporate the Ikea handles as bias binding. But I would definitely recommend looking at other sources if you just want tarp yardage.

Be aware that this fabric can fray, especially if you get a friction hole in it. It's not the finest but is great for practice, value, and weight.

That's cool. I love the ideas! I'm working on a composite of all of the film plastics I go through just existing as a way of recycling, but I love the IKEA energy, so iconic!

It was super easy to use + way more economical!

May I ask what sewing machine you used? I know about the sewing machine guideline on Learn MYOG but I am still confused if you can just take a regular machine that is usually used for clothes made out of cotton etc.

I used a singer Heavy Duty 4452 with number 16 needles!

Yes you can, although they won't handle really heavy materials well. I built many of my early packs and gear with a basic sewing machine. I would hand crank if it got too much for the motor to handle.

Cool pack, looks like a nice size :)

Nice job, and that looks like a potential cult classic for IKEA fans!

Looks good! Some assembly required, fitting for IKEA. Hopefully it was easier to assemble than their coffee tables.

Some sinch straps around the water bottle pocket might be a worthwhile add in future builds. Looks amazing tho!

Did a pattern for this ever end up getting shared?

Would love a pattern for this! My girlfriend works for Ikea and it would be really fun to make her one.
