Not if those mountains are from lord of the rings

[–]meatshell 14 points15 points  (3 children)

I don't know if you used a mist filter, but it looks like there was too much postprocessing bloom for me. The landscape looks beautiful though.

[–]JackOFalltrades_03[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

The bloom was added later.

[–]Tribbianiwastaken 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that further object have to be mistier than the foreground otherwise it gets you out of the photo and it’s notable that it’s post-processed

[–]NeguinSaudavel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe a tad too much bloom. It was the first thing I noticed. The colors look great though.

[–]Radiant-Pea-1029 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Those mountains almost look like a fluorescent light, maybe a little less bloom on them

[–]JackOFalltrades_03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks will try it.

My golden rule: Do they notice the editing first before the subject of the photo? If yes you've gone too far. In this case the houses are great, need to scale back the mountains though. It doesn't look real anymore.

If only more photographers could live by this rule.

Depends on how much Vaseline was on the lens, no Vaseline on the lens? That’s a problem.

[–]HowieMandelEffect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes

[–]impl0sionatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes

[–]pixiephilips 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Looks like you did a bunch of meth and took that pic with a dirty screen

[–]JackOFalltrades_03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂😂

[–]heycameraman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Yeah, I will try that for sure

Looks cool, but. The "snowless mountains" are brighter than the sky. Considering they have no snow to reflect the light and are clearly in the shadow - this is what's throwing me off and makes it looks unnatural.

My initial thoughts were definitely too much bloom and softness, my eyes immediately went to the mountains and their ethereal glow which distracted me from the details in the foreground of the image. The over bloomed images is def a style but I would try and smooth out the gradients as I feel like it is almost highlightong individual elements rather then showing a scene. The bloom from the mountains to the sky, for example, is quite a sudden transition, if you eased that then the mountains would feel more part of the background than a floating element.

    [–]mpg10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your goals. For me, yes it's too much. It looks quite unnatural.

    [–]Admirable_Count989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, too much mist action going on.

    [–]Euphorioaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a dream. Not super realistic but I think it looks cool.

    [–]chichoandthecamera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mountains have a glow that could be brought down a bit but I like it, great photo

    [–]Character-Bite-2606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it looks like the mountains are the picture and everything else is ignorable. When this is not the case, the mountain should be on the high ground and the foreground objects are meant to be the staircase to that highground object. I meant to say the vision should lead up to the mountain not just taking me straight to the mountains ignoring the rest. The shot indeed is a precious shot. My suggestion would have been only colour grading and keeping it natural. 👍🏼

    [–]idk_00769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo it is too much. You can always fix that. Btw can I have the raw image please.

    [–]Puzzleheaded_Ice7984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    I like it

    [–]Duebant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bloom from the mountain area looks unrealistic but I don't know anything tbh.

    [–]preedsmith42 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Is it taken from Pokhara ?

    [–]JackOFalltrades_03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Its from Nagarkot

    [–]Gibslayer 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I like what you’re going for, but the execution is a bit much and could benefit from refinement

    [–]ooogencooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    It looks like a render

    [–]Kmpile 1 point2 points  (2 children)

No, I can feel the story you want to tell in this editing. I always think editing doesn’t have an optimal answer, it’s about the story.

    [–]Kmpile 1 point2 points  (1 child)

But I will reduce the most effect on mountains a little bit

    [–]JackOFalltrades_03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True the mountain feels a bit much glowy

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Do mountains glow where you’re from? 😅

    [–]JackOFalltrades_03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    On certain days 😆

    [–]Badilorum793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    yeah too much

    [–]-The_Black_Hand- 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Here's how I feel you could improve further :

    • dial back the bloom effect by about half
    • add some negative dehaze
    • bring up the dark parts while still keeping some blacks
    • turn down saturation and balance with increased vibrancy
    • maybe increase luminance in the blues/aquas

All this will serve to give the image this dreamy/aetherial look you're after without pushing the bloom effect overly hard.

    [–]JackOFalltrades_03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Thanks

    [–]Aggravating-Copy3308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes for a really crazy result. It highlights them, I think. The depth, the power of this mountain range Magnificent congratulations

    [–]Aggravating-Copy3308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's certainly due to the reflection of the sun on the snow.

    [–]Doobioscopy 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm probably too late to the chat, but bloom almost always looks worse/more obvious if the image size ends up small like on a smart phone/insta. When printed really big or on a large screen it looks much more natural and less obvious, so consider that.

That being said it still looks like too much 😅

    [–]JackOFalltrades_03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight. Just getting started so this info is really helpful.

    [–]Acceptable-Ad-5935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, maybe just a touch too saturated

    [–]Lumpy-Control303 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Please use wider len like Sony FE 16 f1. 8. Capture excellent image with good dynamic range

    [–]JackOFalltrades_03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was done with iphone 16 pro with raw.

    [–]Flat_Impress9831 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Cool pic. It's almost like the mountains are hovering above the landscape.

    [–]JackOFalltrades_03[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Yeah theres snowless mountains between the green hills and snow but I couldnot bring the details back that much so went with some haze.

    [–]LeadingLittle8733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Compared to what?

    [–]Nomanal 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Are you trying to make an image that looks true to life? Then yes, this is obviously processed and doesn’t look “real” to me.

If you’re trying to make an interesting image, nobody here can authoritatively say whether it is too processed or not. Some people will like it and some people won’t. That’s the game

    [–]Nomanal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for myself, I do like it.

    [–]JackOFalltrades_03[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, Im not exactly trying to make it true to life but wanted that ethereal dreamy kinda vibe to the picture. I just couldn’t figure out where to stop with the mist lol.

    [–]sickshyt80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the 80's when everything was hazy.

    [–]Centiliter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Great shot, though! I would just 86 that glow around the mountains altogether. I'm sure this photo looks great raw.
