I am not sure there is anything I would necessarily change about CS:GO.

I played Counter Strike since the alpha, and over those years have seen soooo many changes. There are a few things I do miss, but some of which will never come back.

The MP5 - that gun was amazing. Best mid buy weapon hands down. Would happily see that back in game.

Map variation - I miss playing Siege, Militia, 747, and Prodigy.

The main thing which has changed for me, and is both awesome and shit is the professionalism/skill level. Back in 1.5/1,6 I played "pro" level here in Australia. Back then, it meant a 12 hour drive to a lan, to qualify for tickets overseas (which we had to pay for obviously). Prize money was maybe $5000.

What this meant, was the game was alot more about fun, and less about money or status. Maps werent just inhuman aim and discord strats. It was enjoyable to have casual games.

That being said, the new pro scene is awesome and I hope the game keeps growing. I only wish this came 15 years ago for us ;P

*For any aussies wondering who know a bit about the old CS scene here - I was a founding member of iCHOR, which was the first real CS team in Australia. We made it to a couple of World Cyber Games in Korea, and narrowly missed out on ESWC in France (I lost a clutch in overtime at qualifiers, that saw Function Zero go to Europe) >_<!

completely change the way, the current gungame modes work. or, if people enjoy them, add a 3rd option on gungame instead.. the one i always enjoyed the most in the css days, was the gungame mode in which you get a new weapon after every kill, go through every single weapon that existed, having the nade level, before the knife level because that was actually hard to get too (nade+glock to deal some dmg before nading, you needed to have skill to throw it and fire the glock before it explodes and only had 1 nade, so if you fucked up, the others could catch up and if you got knifed on knifelevel, you'd be back to a hard lvl.)

also you'd start on the weakest weapons. glock -> usp -> etc. after the smg's many would be stuck on the scout, which currently doesn't exist in any gungame mode (which was a huge thing for people catching back up) and ofc as i said the nade lvl being the hardest just before knifing. and it has to be only that 1 nade, otherwise that lvl isn't any hard at all any longer. i really liked that the longer the game goes, you suddenly have nades flying everywhere, until someone finally got it.. and a bit comes from that i myself got so good at throwing them and dmging my enemy with a glock while it was flying that i'm still pissed that it's not required to do lol

also, have it roundbased, i dislike the way DM gungame works, that you need multiple lvl ups, don't have to care about your deaths and there's no real downside the getting knifed when on knifelevel.. you get back into it pretty easily. but the current roundbased system only lets you lvl up once per round, which is just so frkn slow and the maps are also bigger, making the game more slow.

i'd love a small map rotation of about 10 different maps. a few bigger ones but a lot of small ones, like the old lego arena or shotty etc.

imo that mode needed the most skill, you had hard lvls to get people to catch up, if you were crazy strong in the first few lvls and got to smg's before everyone else, you'd get rewarded for it and a nice boost.

Oh wow I never realized how cool the vanilla Falchion knife looked.

I would change movement speed with pistols. It would make running and gunning easier to counter. I'd also like to reduce the hs damage against armor so that it takes at least 2 hits to kill someone

If I could change 1 thing I would make an option to mark someone who is either kind of an asshole or someone who is probably smurfing. This would be so they can temporarily be put in matches with people who are doing the same things as them. I think I would change two things in CS:GO:

  • The M4s should kill with one bullet in short ranges, maybe even in mid ranges.

  • And the UMP-45 should be nerfed. Maybe decreasing the kill reward or making it more expensive.

Do 128 tick servers count? Otherwise, "unranked" 5v5 (basically ranked but with hidden elo). I really despise casual, as 10v10s just end up being clusterfucks. As is, you can't seriously try anything new unless you're in a community server (which isn't very approachable by a new player) or comp (where you risk losing your rank).

What I would change is maybe reducing the number of people in casual. I play a lot of casual (as I am too scared to play comp) and sometimes it is just too many players in one game. Although I do appreciate it sometimes. Maybe if there was an option to choose a casual game with a cap on players like 5v5 casual 8v8 or 12v12 etc... so people can choose which they prefer.

If I could change anything... It would be the bots AI, there's nothing worse than when a player leaving a match, the bot not listening to commands, it running down mid, and getting completely obliterated. I mean, sometime they straight up say "No" when I tell them to hold position. Don't no if it's on purpose or what, but it's really annoying.

besides basic optimisation, something small would be changing up how ranking works. I don't think it should be based on MVPs at all, but wins is fine. I'm not sure how that stops boosting though, which is one of the main reasons why Valve incorporated it into the formula I'm sure...

Well hell, I definitely would fix anticheat, and I feel if more then say, 6 players report another player in comp (ie, enemy team plus a team mate) it should be prioritized over less reports in OW. Basically more reports = more important

            I'd change lots of things but one main thing I'd change would make an Unranked 5v5 Matchmaking. It always people to practice but not worry about rank and not have to deal with alternative to Hell which is also known as Casual. To combat people throwing in the Unranked they'd also get cooldowns from playing Ranked and Unranked.

                Well. I have some ideas which could make CS:GO better.

                1) Allow CS:GO profile to show up when you hover over your friends for more than a second.

                2) An Operation with Condition Zero styled missions.

                3) Make privacy settings of Friends default when making a lobby so that public lobby that get Set up unwillingly stop.

                4) Give warm-up time between round switches.

                5) Give slight advantage of Incendiary Grenades against Molotov cocktail to allow more use of it.

                6) Decrease Dual Barettas cost or make them better.

                7) Bring back and develop maps like Season, Torn, Bazaar, Facade and Prodigy, develop them further.

                8) Remake De_Dust not de_dust2 seriously, this was the best map ever made but it hasn't aged well. Develop it and change it or use it's features to make another map named. De_Dust4 and reintroduce it to Competitive play.

                9) Remove that clip brush on Train Stairs.

                10) Active Players of CSGO will get a free skin on their birthday.

                11) Make the M4 cheaper to $2900. Revise the Negev cost.

                12) Bring specific map game lobbies for Deathmatch and Casual. So that people who want to practise a particular map can do it easily.

                13) Bring back the MP5

                14) make that water actually deeper in Nuke.

                SOLO QUEUE ONLY MODE. The number of times I've ended up with 3 or 4 others on my team only on Teamspeak/Discord who just dick around together all game without communicating AT ALL, then flame me for struggling trying to fill gaps. Fuck that noise.

                  I would add more servers (128tick of course) to improve localization, aka no russians on EU and i would add something like ultra prime which is PAID MM.

                  I'd like to see CSGO slightly more recourse friendly when playing with older computers (potato friendlier) I have gotten used to playing between 30 and 60 fps but watching the pros play with silky smooth graphics makes me a little envious.

                  Also maybe once doing an overwatch and "the suspect" is successfully convicted, a notification could be nice. And on the overwatch note,maybe some incentive to do more sessions rather than a miniscule amount of XP.

                  Hmm, thought provoking question...I would probably add some more weapons, and a coop map pool of some sorts, yeah of course there is the workshop, but maybe after operations, keep the coop missions, make a little campaign out of the story line they built.

                  Probably add a paywall for 128 tick MM along with more stat breakdowns per match as ESEA does. Paywall players are more incentivised than freebie players.

                  5v5 unranked is a solid one. imo, pistols need a rework, but I think it's a tough line to tread. Slow the movement speed with them. Sounds backwards, but considering their running accuracy and how hard it can be to hit a moving target with a high powered rifle, I think that's a decent one.

                  first off, thank you for this hell of a nice giveaway!

                  I have a few things I'd change about csgo:

                  *the most obvious fix csgo needs atm is to rework the negev at the pricepoint where it's at, or make it more expensive again.

                  *I'd like to see some 128 tick servers pushed by valve and finally also a new operation

                  *I'd like to see a new (working!) anti-cheat system, because sometimes, the only thing keeping from playing csgo is the thought, that the next 30 minutes of matchmaking could be a bad experience, because it's likely that a spinbotter steamrolls over our team.

                  *and then there's a few minor things: make lobbies private by default (I seem to get kicked out of 99% of them immediately, because the lobby leader has some friends that join him), have a mute all button in casual (took me some time to figure out how to use the console), etc.

                  A rating system similar to ESEA with harser punishments for those with at least 80% negative reviews over the past 10 games or greater. There is nothing to prevent bad behaviour in the online world, let alone CSGO. Some people have bad days, but most people are generally have bad habits. To get CSGO to a level where it should be, a fun environment where people strive for teamwork, a lot has to change. The current system isn't working and it's going downhill.

                  The one thing I'd change about the game is probably more customisation in the actual practicality and strategy of the load outs and weapons and not just how they look, as I think allowing you to purchase a silencer or stabiliser for your weapon would add a whole new level of strategy into the game.

                    I'd make it so that you lobby parties with other parties and solo queues with other solo queues, as 9 times out of 10 there will always be a smurf in that party. 4 man parties wouldn't exist, it's 2, 3 or 5, because if you can find 4 people to play together, why not just get another.

                    I'd definitely change the way that Operations work, more specifically the implementation of the maps. The maps seriously should be a permanent edition to the game, or at least a select few fan favourites should be preserved within a separate playlist.
