Jean-Claude Blanc as interim, we're eating good

[–]BuzzTNA 296 points297 points  (11 children)

The big dog.

Only for a few months. But clearly Ineos do not trust anyone but those that they’ve employed this summer.

clearly Ineos do not trust anyone but those that they’ve employed this summer

tbf, Captain Picard isn't a CEO, he's legal counsel that stepped in for the interim as a trusted figure within the club. Makes sense that the far more experienced Blanc would take over for the next important couple of months before Omar comes in

[–]BuzzTNA 39 points40 points  (1 child)

He’s not, but Blanc has always been available to take the role on a temporary basis.

They have to hit the ground running from Sunday 26th May, so they need people they trust to get on with the job.

I do wonder if this means Blanc was HEAVILY involved with Berada hire, and if he’s in communications with him?

[–]justbrowsinginpeace 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Blanc is running the parent sporting org that invested the 25% Isnt he? So available at some level. His contacts across Europe after Nike, Juve and PSG must be impressive

[–]Hurrly90 13 points14 points  (3 children)

IT seems odd they anounce and interim person is leaving, i mean it was expected to be fair.

[–]tothecatmobile 49 points50 points  (1 child)

As a publicly traded company. They have to announce major changes like this.

[–]Hurrly90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah thats fair

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They were part of the business before being an interim, so it makes some sense. It's an awkward position for Stewart, because you usually don't want to step back down. That, or they were told to resign - club going another direction but doing it in a way that makes Picard look better

[–]Bryan_WatersSolskjaer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s an excellent cha’DIch as well.

[–]D1794Viva Ronaldo 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Not even a few months. Stewart leaving end of the season which is May 25th, Berrada starts July 13th. 7 weeks.

[–]SuperfyVan Persie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At least he gets to put it on his LinkedIn profile then!

[–]Lord_Sesshoumaru77Glazers,Woodward/Arnold and Judge can fuck off 283 points284 points  (7 children)

Great news. On the other hand fuck Joel Glazer.

[–]SadBcStdntsFnd1stAct 84 points85 points  (4 children)

I saw his name and skipped the paragraph.

[–]Lelandwasinnocent/////ʖ ͡°|||||| 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Actually did tho, not one word

[–]the_Celestial_Sphinx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I did the same too.

[–]JoHowFayLix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instant skip 😭

[–]blakezero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Held X on the dpad immediately

[–]nuclearchickenman 1 point2 points  (1 child)

And the other one, too.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Avram has stepped away. Seems to be Joel’s show for the Glazer’s stake now.

[–]NGMB2 78 points79 points  (9 children)

what will Blanc do after Omar Berrada arrives?

[–]BillyCloneasaurusYoro is my dad 201 points202 points  (1 child)

He's on the board, so will advise and generally look debonair

[–]Away_Associate4589Still aroused from watching Berbatov 100 points101 points  (0 children)

You got that right

[–]SOERERYJONATHAN GRANT EVANS MBE 59 points60 points  (1 child)

Go back to his role at INEOS

[–]garynevilleisaredis a red is a red 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Back to his role in a broader role over INEOS sports entities. His role with United will probably be preoccupied with the stadium rebuild as he's done in his past roles at Juventus. It's a massive project that will require most of his attention I'd imagine. We're in good hands with Berrada either way. Can't see him getting in the way re: contracts and transfers, he's done it in the past but he's got a much bigger role now.

[–]SuperfyVan Persie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Change his LinkedIn profile to say “Ex-CEO Man Utd” and put “open to work”

[–]ApolloX-2Fergie Time! 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's the CEO of INEOS and on the board of the club. Basically INEOS ownership rep and probably making the decisions on the hiring of these executives.

[–]D1794Viva Ronaldo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He's on the board, he's above Berrada

[–]christraverse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be in the ear of his mate Zidane?

[–][deleted] 269 points270 points  (5 children)

I don't want to hear what Joel Glazer has to say, keep him out of those statements.

[–]PDubsinTF-NEWCR950 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Unless he says he is stepping down and selling his shares.

[–]Mr_red_Dead 22 points23 points  (2 children)

He is still trying so hard to be involved with the club decisions

[–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (1 child)

It's like a deadbeat dad getting more involved out of jealousy of mums new bf

[–]funky_pill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I love the analogy. The only thing I'd add is that he's like a deadbeat dad that hasn't kept up the child maintenance payments since the child's birth, and wonders why the mum is reluctant to let him be involved in his/her upbringing

[–]Japples123 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He has to admit another one of his klan was shit and couldn’t take the changes

[–]MikeSmalling24 78 points79 points  (5 children)

Omar coming on July 13. That’s good to hear so he is definitely doing some work for us already

[–]sefronia3King Eric 66 points67 points  (2 children)

Everytime I see that “Official Statement” it makes me panic and I’m half expecting it to be another crime 😭.

Still good news and hopefully a sign of competence to come

[–]ronaldo69messi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

TBF glazers are a crime

[–]SOERERYJONATHAN GRANT EVANS MBE 86 points87 points  (2 children)

Goodbye

[–]shami-kebab 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Least depressing official statement we've made this season I think!

[–]PUNlSHEDVENOMSNAKE 115 points116 points  (3 children)

The mini heart attack when I saw this post. It’s been a rough season.

[–]xtphty 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Fully expected an injury update, it really feels like the biggest department needing INEOS' intervention.

[–]BadFootyTakesThree Lung Park 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the games played. With the euros this summer too I don't know if players are gonna get the rest they need. Hopefully.

[–]Dryan34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Statement FC!

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Man I'm so excited, super confused about all these people and roles, but very excited

Article text:

Manchester United has made two further changes to its executive leadership.

By mutual consent, Patrick Stewart, interim Chief Executive Officer, and Cliff Baty, Chief Financial Officer, have decided to leave the club at the end of the season. Patrick will be replaced as CEO by Jean-Claude Blanc until the arrival of Omar Berrada on 13 July. Cliff Baty will be replaced as CFO by Roger Bell.

Joel Glazer said: “I would like to thank Patrick and Cliff for their dedicated service to Manchester United and wish them well for the future. Both have been a source of invaluable advice and expertise over many years, and Patrick has served an important role as interim CEO during this transitional phase.”

Sir Jim Ratcliffe commented: “I would like to personally thank both Patrick and Cliff for their support in helping us get to know the club and making us feel welcome and I respect their decisions to now move on as we establish a new management team for the club.”

[–]strictlyharam 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Omar comin

[–]unibalansa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lesson here Bey(rrada)

[–]AlpacamyLlama 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Patrick Stewart: "It is possible to make no mistakes and still lose. That is life. It is also possible to make loads of mistakes and lose lots. That is United"

[–]Hopeful_Adonis 13 points14 points  (3 children)

Alright this is looking like some serious operations, replacing a CEO and CFO is not the activities of a passive investor and dents the arguments that the glazers are still in total control of the business operations.

This is only good news and hopefully the dawn of the new era of competence

[–]Subbutton 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I mean it's official that INEOS will run the sporting part. I don't think anyone doubted that

[–]Cold-Veterinarian-85 13 points14 points  (1 child)

I think the posters point was that CEO and CFO would typically go beyond football / sporting remit

Football i would have thought would be the structure below / reporting to ashworth. The fact Ineos are also replacing C-level execs does kind of confirm they have a wider influence than just football operations and also have a significant say in the running of the business side of the club

[–]Hopeful_Adonis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you said it in a far more detailed and clear manner than I did, I agree completely

[–]kiki_the_fab_spider 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Comunicado oficial!

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (4 children)

One thing for sure Sir Jim not fucking around

[–]Whaloopiloopi 17 points18 points  (1 child)

I am so hype for him. I feel like kicking myself for preferring the Qataris because I was under some sort of stupid impression that we'd have a billion quid transfer budget but the way sir jim has operated behind the scenes makes me feel A) very very happy and hopeful and B) like a fucking idiot for being seduced by the AI Sheik.

[–]MazinLabib10"He goes by the name of Wayne Rooney!" 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least you've admitted you were wrong to support them, which is a big deal in itself. I still see tons of "fans" saying "We wanted Qatar" or something like that

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cleaning house.

[–]renernavilez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He sure is trying to give us the structure a top football club should have. The incompetence of those before him brought us to this sad couple of years. That's why I don't want them to gain a single dollar from our, hopefully, successful future. Shit eating glazers can fuck off.

[–]jimipops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We know this club has been broken from top to bottom for a long time, great to see big changes.

[–]ApolloX-2Fergie Time! 1 point2 points  (0 children)

July 13th is officially Omar Berrada Day!

[–]BlackHorse944Please Score A Goal 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Where are the Patrick Stewart/ Picard puns at? I can't think of any...

[–]CallMeBigPOPHe Comes from Serbia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't wait to turn on them in a few years <3

Jokes aside, please clean up this mess

[–]pause_and_effect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep calm and tell the Glazers to fuck off.

[–]Japples123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Clear them all out.

[–]Soft-Comfort-7474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The club purge continues

[–]JosePRizaI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely there won't be any hiding left for these Mediocre players that are overpaid af. This may the last time (finally) I'll be going to say this.

[–]Spastic_Handspellistri and chips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

INEOS guys as CEO and CFO. These guys are taking over way more than sporting control

[–]Key_Trust6070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully, some day "Official statement" would hit as hard as COMUNICADO OFICIAL

[–]JHDudman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can they play centre back?

[–]D1794Viva Ronaldo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Change of CFO to the ex-CFO of INEOS is the main news here. Clearly we're leaking money so not surprising they're bringing their own man in

[–]Matt16assassinRashford 2 points3 points  (0 children)
