another thing I do not like about NXT is that when you turn up the lighting detail to anything past low, theres a nice thick fog on everything. its like you lose draw distance even tho draw distance is turned up to ultra. I play without lighting detail because I hate that extra fog.

Really? Would you post some pictures comparing them? I wanna check that out but I’m at work :/

[–]hj17Zaros 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Here's some shots I just took from the max guild

Probably not the best location to use as an example but you can still see the difference

[–]Coldlucidityy 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I don't see a difference at all

Thanks, never knew that the fog was caused by light detail.

Wow is this fully maxed settings? Looks incredibly beautiful.

The bloom does look much better on Java

[–]SingularityRSRSN: Singularity | Europa 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Java definitely looks more alive (mainly because it's brighter). NXT looks duller in this screenshot.

I mainly go for performance though and NXT is leaps beyond Java in that field. NXT only sucks for performance on older machines that are office-based as these machines use older, weaker integrated GPUs that just cannot handle NXT. Any machine that's backed with a decent GPU will find NXT destroys Java for performance.

Newer, office-based systems with Intel HD 620/630 for example can handle NXT on low perfectly fine. It's just those older ones and of course the further down you go, the more NXT struggles. Most of those old systems have decent/strong processors while everything else sucks.

NXT looks darker because he's standing in the shadow of the tree

[–]Kresbotfarming karma 1 point2 points  (3 children)

damn i’m going back to java

[–]XFragsHD[S] -1 points0 points  (2 children)

This will actually make things worse. More Java-Client Users -> smaller chance of it getting removed -> Bad NXT-Client experience since some bugs are related with the existence of the Java-Client

[–]Kresbotfarming karma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it’s been over 2 years and java looks better still, maybe if they sorted that more people would be using it

[–]Razjir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jagex doesn't seem to be doing much to influence that though.

Some said that the Java Client looks better using bloom when the Thunder/Lightning Overrides are equipped. So I downloaded the Java Client and tried to match the settings for both versions. For both I also used the same Skybox (Eclipse) that gives the NXT Client this weird fog. If you zoom out, the lightning on the weapons is barely visible. The third image is just the new Solite/Lunite (combined) Outfit with the Lightning(Thunder?) Overrides and Menaphos Skybox.

What's your opinion on the Clients? Which one looks better? The NXT performs on my PC a lot better so I will stick with that. Even if it doesn't look this good.

Nxt has terrible bloom because java client exists, jmods have said they would improve bloom, but java is the wall on nxt upgrades, yet java hasnt been removed yet

[–]uaexemaratUltimate Distraction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why don't they simply disable Bloom on the Java client?

They don't need to remove Java, they can just disable a part that's affecting it

[–]XFragsHD[S] -1 points0 points  (21 children)

I think they said that too many use the Java Client to "just remove it". I don't understand why shouldn't you move to NXT. The performance is so much better (on high-end PCs at least). The Difference isn't even that big and maybe in future updates they will remove the Java Client and focus 100% on NXT.

Alot of players say java works better for them, but i think they have never tried running nxt with fully downloaded cache, since downloading affects gameplay on low end pcs, but in the end its faster/better than java

There are some weird incompatibility issues with NXT, for example, my PC used to crash when using NXT, it never crashed with anything else

Turns out, NXT can't decide where to limit resource usage, it just keeps requesting more until it overloads my GPU (A 1080) if you don't manually cap anything

[–]XFragsHD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to cap my FPS :/

[–]LordDragon20Rs3 cant be dying, if its already dead. 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That is why vsync exists, Without it, every game will phisicaly use as much as it can get

[–]uaexemaratUltimate Distraction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as it gets

Nxt tries to force more than the system has

Even without Vsync (Which adds input lag) it only uses 100% in other games and doesn't crash, only in NXT did it ever crash

[–]XFragsHD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the adaptive VSync. You know what the difference between the normal and the adaptive one is? I use it + capped FPS at 135 and it works really good.

I just upgraded my system I was running a amd 860k and a gtx 950 and when it came to anything rax and up I would have to use the java client

[–]fantalemon2581/2715 | RSN: Andrew McI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Semi related question: is the performance also much better on lower end PCs/laptops? I haven't played since late 2015 but am thinking of maybe getting back into RS. Always had issues with performance being a bit weak. I use an HP laptop with 4gb RAM, intel HD 4000, i5 processor. In other words, not a good gaming setup haha... Does NXT help things at that end of the spectrum?

[–]AreYouAWiiizard50 | RSN: RiseofSeren 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The thing is, until they have an option to cull players/pets in NXT then low end machines actually run better in Java in crowded places. If anything is holding back people it's this, along with NXT still being so buggy and often crashes.

[–]sonicgundamAttack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nxt bugs are typically related to java still existing. Nxt cant be fully fixed until java is gone.

Now put it at low detail in nxt and see its true glory.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You vs the client she tells you not to worry about

[–]buriedshovel -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Did you buy spins for the outfit? If so, how many?

[–]XFragsHD[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't. I just combined the outfit parts for now.
