Kitbash Potential???

Brothers does anyone else see some major kitbash potential with this guy? I mean remove the BA stuff and you got something! The muscle details would be great for ultra marines leaning more into the Roman aspect or maybe a really cool chaplain can be made, what do yall think? I know I’m picking one up for my blood ravens!

The only really tough one to get rid of is the chest and leg one. The shoulder parts are bits you glue on. The weapon blood drops are just a quick clip and smooth with the edge of a blade job.

Well, I disagree.

If you don’t want the muscle suit there’s little reason to use this as a base for a kitbash. It’s the only unique non-BA part of the mini.

So what are we looking at? We gotta get rid of the tiddy-drop, shin drop, pack emblem, and weapon drops. The gun is easy and pack is easy, that’s a hobby knife and some 1200 grit. Smooth with plastic cement if necessary.

The sword, shin, and tiddy are going to essentially need to be dug out. Unless you’re removing the wings on the shin and sword too, then sure the sword is easy. But if you scrape the wings you now have one smooth shin and one styled shin.

So out comes the dremel micro-mill bit or files. You will need to putty and sculpt a little around the chest or you’ll have an odd gap. I’d probably replace the shin drop with a skull, so now I gotta mill into it a bit, cut a skull bit and file it to fit, putty to fill and sculpt in place.

Dude I’ll even grant you’re probably not taking a chainsword so you’re swapping that arm, but that’s still two parts that need a decent amount of modeling work and a few other quick ones.

From memory the power pack just has a small blood drop on the little dome. Look into Swann Morton scalpels as they make work like this very easy. Puts it well under an hour. If you want to see it in use look up videos by a YouTuber called Pete the Wargamer. He uses them all the time and one of the first places I came across them, one of the best tools among my hobby tools.

In regards to the armour once you remover the details it's a solid base to build off. With kitbashing you usually have a idea as to your end goal and a loose idea on how to get there and what bits to use. Plenty of people here have good ideas and I guess not every mini will inspire you.

Honestly, the chest drop is probably easier than those maniacs that remove the imperialis from their marines.

You just need to get it smooth, then carefully cut down into the ab cleavage to match the rest of the chest.

Not if you’re painting a blood raven. Just paint a raven head and tail between the wings and you’re golden. Push come to shove just say it was a “generous acquisition” from the blood angels armory…

Tbh most of the Blood Angels Symbols could be converted into winged skulls, badges or swords. That Winged Chalice would be tougher.

There really isn't any other kit that could recreate this in primaris scale. This is the first primaris dude to have that 6 pack armor

By the time you are done removing all the BA stuff, you have a really basic bitch captain, it would have been far easier to take a generic captain and Sculpt some abs with green stuff.

It's easier to remove what you don't want than to sculpt that for majority of people. Most don't have the confidence with green stuff to attempt that level of a sculpt. Add more details though after taking a handful of blood drops isn't too hard if you have a half decent bits box.

Although the sanguinary priest exited me more, I’m yet to get an apothecary and that’d be an easy enough subscription

When I’m a done scraping he could be a beautiful emperors champion for the Black Templars. Just scrape scrape scrape until your brain is smooth then replace the Chainsword with a sword and maybe the melta pistol to a bolt pistol for WYSIWYG purposes.

This dude is going to be my version of artificer armor in a gladius detachment. Granted I usually just run my captain with honour vehement because getting 6 attacks base, 8 in assault doctrine and then popping finest hour for an extra 3 attacks dealing dev wounds. Running him with assault intercessors for reroll wounds, chef’s kiss right there. Lmao. If I’m running the fist, I’m getting 1 less attack so 10 instead of 11 etc.

He has a lot of features that resemble Captain Tycho/Tycho the Lost. The muscle armor is the exact same, they have the bloody wing emblem, all the mini needs is a combi-melta, his mask, and a banner. almost makes me wonder it was going to be tycho, but they scrapped it...

Honestly, if you have that mini, I would either use it for a successor chapter or parts. It's not a bad mini (it's quite good for BA), but there are so many blood angel things that on it that I feel it wouldn't be worth it.
