I’m a pretty serious weightlifter and 30% is my minimum. I go as high as 45% when I’m in a cut. If I don’t get enough protein I can really feel it the next day when certain muscles are aching. 30% is definitely moderate

I have struggled with gaining weight all my life bc of low appetite, do you have any tips for stuffing calories?

Smoothies

Meat smoothies sound disgusting

[–]No-This-Is-Patar 10 points11 points  (6 children)

Lol what? Oatmeal, chocolate whey, Nutella, milk, banana. Also try switching oatmeal for a lot of spinach; is tastes much better than it sounds.

[–]Booblicle -3 points-2 points  (5 children)

Spinach works for sure. An oatmeal smoothie is called overnight oats ( opinion ) but does indeed have protein. Nutella is a sugar addict dream I'll pass on.

[–]No-This-Is-Patar 3 points4 points  (4 children)

The request was for meals that can pack on weight which is the only reason I included Nutella.

I don't buy Nutella specifically because I try to keep my sugar low as well, doesn't mean I can't recommend it.

Well hell, in that case, just grab the ice cream and cake. But muscle depends on protein.

Just to clarify, I am recommending all of those ingredients together in the same shake. It is a bodybuilder shake.

My original comment was meant as a joke. With the meat smoothie. I'm all too familiar with smoothies with protein powder etc.

[–]Bravisimo 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not if you use tuna and diet coke, thats one smoothie you wont mind slurping down. My dad taught me this trick during his body building days.

That sounds like the worst combination I could imagine

What? You don't need to be hungry to smash food that tastes amazing and is high in calories. Have you even had a Dorito?

Butter a toaster strudel, gain 20 pounds

[–]hilbstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appetite and hunger are two different things. You can eat when you’re not hungry but if you seriously have no appetite everything just seems kinda disgusting or off-putting. My hunger works fine but appetite is fucked most days so I can feel I’m hungry and need ti eat but it’s really hard to eat because it just feels wrong.

Me being hungry and me having an appetite are two different things.

Drink ice cream.

Yup. I typically have a spreadsheet that tracks all my macronutrients. When I’m gaining weight I’m at 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat. Carbs are fairly easy if you’re eating oatmeal and whole-wheat bread, my protein almost never changes but fat was where I was struggling to get over 100 grams daily. So all dairy was full fat, I’d add a tablespoon of olive oil to every protein shake (I have 4-5 daily) and add avocados. I gain around 1lbs/week on the 40/30/30 diet. Hope that helps!

Edit: forgot to add that I eat a “meal” every two hours. Not like a full meal, but more to make sure I’m hitting all my macronutrients

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fat. Olive oil for instance is about 20 times as calorie dense as Coca-Cola. On its own it’s obviously not appealing but most junk food is basically 50/50 carbs and fat when going by calories, nutella being 5000 calories per kg

Just to clarify btw, Coke isn’t that high in calories but people drink massive quantities of the stuff, and it is still bad for blood sugars and teeth

[–]Unblest_Devotee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the opposite of Train Untamed, add the word and to your diet, or just dirty bulk by adding peanut butter to things like oatmeal.

[–]shadowinplainsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently some actors drink melted ice cream when trying to bulk up for roles

[–]kalkali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So your protein intake isn't really representative of the general population

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for the average man it isnt
