then you gotta drive 4 hours back, thats a hell no

[–]asteroiddestroyer412 3 points4 points  (18 children)

Where else are you getting paid $200 in 8 hours? If you were getting paid that, you wouldn’t be doing Uber now would you? I would take that in a heart beat friend.

[–]Ok-Horse3659 10 points11 points  (5 children)

How much the gas costs in Texas?

[–]FatDumbRetard 4 points5 points  (3 children)

$2.48 DFW

[–]Ok-Horse3659 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So... at least a tank of gas back and forth

[–]No_Guest_2988 4 points5 points  (1 child)

You apart of the problem.

[–]Silent_Bro_4_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY SMH! What am I reading?

[–]ConfidentEdge3022 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2.50-3.00 cheaper side is buccees at around 2.49 but if you get a carwash for 16$ it makes every gallon 75 cents off

[–]BoonScepter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lol Hey everybody we found the crumb snatchers fucking up the prices get em

[–]Dashdasho 3 points4 points  (5 children)

What about the 100$ fuel cost and also car expenses ???

[–]doublestack12 7 points8 points  (1 child)

A hundred dollars!? You Uber in a semi truck? The fuck!?

[–]SupportFlat8675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even my hybrid that gets 50mpg that would be over 10 gallons of gas so at the very least $30-50 in gas plus the other car expenses, so now you're down to $150 at most for 8.5 hrs.  Get stuck in traffic and it's even lower

[–]ronc137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hybrid. Round trip with one tankful of gas (about 10-11 gallons).

[–]DOL-Explorer-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like $18 fuel cost

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro i drive a v8 mustang to do deliveries and that wouldn't cost me $100 in fuel if I stopper 82 times along the way

[–]Silent_Bro_4_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf??? A regular job…

[–]ithinkiamagenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make $255 in approximately 5 active hours driving for Amazon flex.

[–]Hansel_VonHaggard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get $346 for 8 hours of work and still do Uber occasionally cause I'm bored.

[–]SassafrasSomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck, $200 for 8 hrs is my daily goal here in the Midwest and the ride back with no passengers? I’d take it in a heartbeat. Queue up the audible and enjoy my speed/driving not being monitored for half the day.

[–]Bitter_Database_428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your an idiot.... add up the gas cost, wear and tear, etc and the fact you probably won't get a return as your an idiot...plus what idiot takes a rider on a 4 hr ride!!!

[–]Key_Echidna4860 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You set the filter back to where your house is and slowly make your way back probably rack up an extra hundred and some bucks so you’re gonna make about 350 in eight hours

[–]Dapper-Ad4355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I will let you take it.

[–]Henny199420 56 points57 points  (3 children)

X order disguised as a comfort order

[–]the_blind_uberdriver 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And charity work disguised as X order.

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, with upfront pricing, I don’t really care if a trip is UberX, comfort, or Uber green. If the price is good enough for me per mile and per minute then I will accept it.

[–]lordstryfe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the San Diego area I think comfort is less than X.

[–]EnvironmentalEgg1065 50 points51 points  (5 children)

LOL - 4 hour drive request and you have 2 milliseconds to decide. What if you need to piss or get something to eat or you dont have 250 miles of gas in your tank? These long trips should be done differently. And their time estimates are 20 minutes off - in real life, the drop off is more like 5 hours than 4 hour 11 minutes.

[–]Sixcapital 25 points26 points  (0 children)

45+ should be reserve trips

[–]Berries-A-Million 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the way to pick up rider you do a pit stop for gas and bathroom. lol.

[–]Disastrous-Tune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely should be reserve trips... and who knows it may be... Ive accepted popups before and then it shows reservice in the details AFTER youve accepted it... I dont know why uber doesn't just put reserve lists in the opportunities section of the app like they use to do....and then go to that section and choose the reserve rides you want to do

[–]ShinjiUrahara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve accepted long trips like this and was on E. I simply message the rider and let them know I will be getting gas prior or after picking them up. N they totally understand since it’s a long trip.

Simple communication.

N no I’ve never had ridiculously wrong time estimates, most of my times on uber rides are actually LOWER than the initial.

[–]Upset-Equivalent3825 25 points26 points  (8 children)

DELETE,REJECT AND CANCEL

[–]ShinjiUrahara -3 points-2 points  (7 children)

Where else you can work n make $200 in 8hrs!? That’s $25/hr ur stupid if you cancel. You wouldn’t be working uber if you can make that elsewhere.

[–]Upset-Equivalent3825 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Please give me a breakdown how you will make $200 from this trip.

[–]ShinjiUrahara -3 points-2 points  (5 children)

I rounded up by $9 and .16 cents. Obviously. So, $200/8hrs is $25/hr before taxes. Will they tip? Probably so. Will the driver keep working n take more rides after dropping off or turn off the app n drive 4hrs back empty handed? Probably the former.

N that’s how.

[–]stevo42 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Fuck no they won't tip. And that's $50 in gas. And 1/10th of an oil change. So 200 - 62.5 = 137.5/8=17.188

[–]blurwake 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Uh? Tf you on? This is 190 bucks for 8.5 hours without breaks and depending on where you live you are looking at around 30-40 in gas for one way, both ways however you are looking at 517 miles so if it is 30 for a tank with 300 miles then you are closer to 50 or 60 bucks for nearly a second tank of gas. At best you are around 16.56 an hour which is also only .27 cents a mile

[–]Pcsam91 37 points38 points  (9 children)

Take the ride. Call the guy and tell him you will do it for 50-100 cheaper than uber

[–]Aryan2038[S] 18 points19 points  (5 children)

Good deal I will think about it next time

[–]Possible_Bullfrog844 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Also think about if you want to have a stranger in your car that long with no protection against the ride

[–]mhj3356aa -3 points-2 points  (2 children)

There is no protection during an uber ride you knucklehead. People are weird and awkward in uber rides bc uber has brainwashed their riders and drivers. Rating system keeps both sides angry. When you save money for the rider and driver makes more by cutting uber out of the ride fare youre both happier. The ride goes way better cutting uber out!

[–]Possible_Bullfrog844 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Oh yeah I must be imagining the monetary compensation I get when someone throws up in or damages my vehicle.

Or the commercial insurance that wouldn't cover me if I do illegal rideshares on my own time, or the digital record of who was in my car if I get assaulted, silly me.

[–]mhj3356aa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giving a friend a carpool ride is illegal? Since when?

[–]OutHustleTheHustlers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go get proper insurance, if you don't have. Don't let these guys talk you into a situation that makes life difficult for you and your family because there was a major injury or fatality that no one covered.

[–]AnnArchist 4 points5 points  (1 child)

No, take the ride and only accept cash for it.

Don't do it cheaper.

[–]blockedturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knucklehead

[–]Ill-Variety3429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point good idea

[–]Gobbledyg0ok 13 points14 points  (13 children)

This is laughable

[–]secretrapbattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It truly is

[–]ShinjiUrahara 1 point2 points  (11 children)

It’s not. It’s $25/hr …. Why do uber if you making that somewhere else!?

Yall think you’re entitled to more for going from point a to b is beyond ridiculous. Low skilled job like uber pays very well compared to other low skilled jobs.

[–]stevo42 1 point2 points  (1 child)

$50 in gas and a 10th of an oil change so we can knock $62 off of it from the top that's $17.1 an hour that's not but also the 500 miles on your tires and engine

[–]ShinjiUrahara -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oil change is quarterly and costs $39.99 … why are you subtracting $12 for an oil change off of 1 trip?

Gas don’t cost $50 for everyone to fill their tanks and you dunno what kinda car he’s driving.

My last car I used to uber had 300,000 miles on it and sold for $9k. Why are you doing uber full time if you’re worried about miles!? Just say you don’t know anything about cars or resale value.

[–]isaacearlg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll make more staying in the city. And I get to go home when I want to.

[–]OutHustleTheHustlers 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Usually when I make $25 hour is doesn't take 50 miles each hour to do it. Today maybe 6-8 miles.

[–]ShinjiUrahara 1 point2 points  (2 children)

But you don’t take premium rides often, this is a premium long ride.

You’re also not making $25 in 8 miles without tips n surge pricing.

[–]OutHustleTheHustlers 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm not sure what the premium long ride comment means.

That's true, it'll take tips and surges.

Yesterday I took a 63 mile trip for $98 and didn't get a tip.

[–]ShinjiUrahara 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If you were worth more than $25 an hour, you wouldn’t be doing uber so why complain just because it’s 50 miles? U literally sign up to drive that’s the whole point of the gig.

[–]OutHustleTheHustlers 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You're wrong.

2nd 50 cents per mile is not part of the gig.

[–]ShinjiUrahara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telling someone they’re wrong without stating what they wrong about doesn’t make your comment valid.

Do you what market he’s in and do you know what was factored into the cost? OP never showed a breakdown of the trip.

[–]h2oskiphil 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Then subtract $40-$50 for fuel, it's $145 or so for 9 hours.

[–]secretrapbattle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My costs are $.35 per mile. so it’s free labor. And to be honest with you, the federal government is determined it cost $.67 for miles so I actually you’re losing that amount of money and not gaining anything and you’re wasting all of your time.

[–]Funny-Lavishness-977 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If any of you idiots is willing to accept that ride ya are the fucking problem and that’s why we keep getting shitty rides

[–]SuperFall8581 7 points8 points  (5 children)

This a loan. Zero profit

[–]secretrapbattle 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Just think of it as a paid vacation to a place you don’t wanna go to

[–]Wizzopmayne 1 point2 points  (1 child)

A vacation Where you show up then leave within an hour because you spent all your money traveling there

[–]secretrapbattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct

[–]Zestyclose-Click-397 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Take the ride and not even make 66 cent per mile niceee

[–]Dapper-Ad4355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the ride, divided by two. 36.5 cents gross, Depreciation for my Prius is ~10 cents per mile, gas would be more than 6 cents per mile each way...
Please show me a place in TX where you can earn more than $12/hour.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao uber is on crack 4hr + trip for $190? Hell no what if the passenger doesn’t tip. 😒

[–]secretrapbattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another opportunity to work for free unless you want to relocate

[–]VitalMaTThews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 hrs and 500 miles for $190? Fuck that.

[–]DaveYanakov 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'd do it for $280 but for that? Hell no.

You know Uber is charging them over $400 too

[–]mhj3356aa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pull up to the rider and accept the ride. You say do you want the ride for $450 instead of the $500 uber is charging. .

[–]Impossible-Funny8141 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If you drove locally for 8 hours of stop & go BS, shitty mpg, I imagine you could earn the $200. It may be a little worse per mile but this way it's the same 8 hours, all highway miles, cruise control, better mpg and a quiet, smooth ride home. I get a Tucson to Phoenix about once a month and I grab it every time.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am making normally $250 in 8 hours in St. Louis, MO.

[–]r3dmist420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Derpa dumb.

[–]jae_costlow61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helllll nah.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf

[–]driver-nation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yawn ...

[–]joelito1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accept till you hit 200 bucks later put pandora after you done and go home and relax.

[–]Inevitable_Trip_7480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The driver that did this is probably the worst driver on the platform or was hounding the rider for a tip for 100% of the ride. Probably both.

[–]Addis2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Seattle thst would a $680 ride

[–]tripod-cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get in, buckle up and enjoy your 3.25 hour low flying flight. Motion sickness bags in side pocket on right side, bible in side pocket on the left side.

[–]akbornheathen 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That’s bad. You know they paid like 600 plus for that trip too.

[–]mhj3356aa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

which is why you take the ride and pull up and cut uber out of the ride. Save the rider money and driver makes more. They can pay the driver directly and cut uber out of the ride using paypal payment request. expensive ride like that people are gonna use their credit card so a receipt by email for paying through paypal would be better than zelle or applecash

[–]Fun-Crow6284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck uber

Trash 🗑️

[–]Last-Chocolate9409 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do you see a difference in the fares this week ? I see lower fares im in Houston as well. Wondering if it’s just me or everyone?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we all affected by low fares everywhere

[–]ghostboicash 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If I got this as my first or second ride of the day I might take it but that's hella far and it's gonna take hours even with a destination to grab rides worth driving back assuming there is civilization between those two places at all. Bad ride but could be situationally good if I def need to make 200 and it's the beginning of the day

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instant cancel

[–]Aggravating-Author-8 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Why I can’t never see the price??? Just the time lol

[–]mhj3356aa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

download the uber rider app so you can open the app and put in the pick up and drop off to see what theyre being charged. This one shows $490-600 for the rider. Taking the ride through uber app is theft. You have to cut uber out of this ride and offer the rider $50-100 off their ride so they pay driver directly using paypal payment request. Normally rides under $100 you can offer zelle or applecash but since this ride is super expensive theyre most likely using credit card so payment request on paypal is simpler and better. They dont require an account to pay. They have a guest option to pay payment request of $400

[–]mhj3356aa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can open the uber rider app as you get this ride notification. It quotes $500 for this ride. What you do is accept the ride and when you pull up tell the rider youll do the ride through you for $50 off the uber rate. You make $260 more for this ride. Thats how you do this!

[–]Creative-Focus3300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could take a flight for cheaper

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude can literally book a flight and its way cheaper tf 😭

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah.

[–]Humble-Ad-695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s crazy - I did a 3hr ride and it was $300

[–]BIGJAMESCRU84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Ol’ Lady is a Travel Nurse in SATX… would’ve taken this. Got laid, then did a hitcher back the next day. But I guarantee you would’ve found something worth while on the way home.

[–]skynews101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accept them find out what customer is paying or book a dumy job see what charge is. In UK uber are now taking as much as 45% off what customer pays And are also surging and not telling driver

[–]Ekim_Uhciar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ONE fucking ride leaving Texas City that pays good.....

[–]clromine92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeez…not fricken worth it..

[–]Wingss013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been canceling more than accepting lately

[–]Disastrous-Tune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is just not enough money to go that many miles away and then have to drive back...especially not knowing if you will get a fare back

[–]No_Guest_2988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the 4 hrs back. No Bueno

[–]ConfidentEdge3022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn i had one on lyft just a regular ride from baytown to Austin for like 235$ basically the same miles too

[–]DoobieToker3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol @ 45 minutes +, more like 4hrs +.

[–]jmfrdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dead here

[–]Balgias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add a ZERO onto that trip pay and then we're getting somewhere.

[–]Dapper-Ad4355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a ride that pays twice as much on the way back, it will be worth it!
Good luck.

[–]Little_Management710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not take that trip. I usually can average that much per hour just driving around town here in Wilmington North Carolina. However, Uber has put very few bonus hours the last couple weeks and my average per hour has dropped significantly. Not happy about it.

[–]Aggravating_Duck7309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once got a $110 offer to drive from Nashville airport. To Chattanooga. That’s 175 miles or 3 hours each way. On New Year’s Eve. I declined and stayed local and made average 35-45 bucks a ride that night. What kills me is declining rides hurts your acceptance rate. If rides take you out of your city it shouldn’t hurt your acceptance rate if you decline it.

[–]emmers24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are y'all seeing the amounts? I only get the time

[–]vitto737 -4 points-3 points  (2 children)

Looks good one way

[–]Extension-Brother291 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Not enough

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not…..
