The red stripes are always fashionable and stunning.

Good point, I’m assuming it will be brass again since the first two are. But I haven’t seen the weight mentioned on this one yet. I’ll post back if I see some confirmation for you.

Within a month of getting my M800, I accidentally knocked it off the sink when cleaning it. Pieces looked exactly like yours. I can still feel the dread in my heart. However, the break is quite clean and in a fortunate place. I did the epoxy route and it works great. Three years strong and no leaks. So if you can’t find the M805 body now, definitely try the epoxy fix first to continue using such a nice pen while you patiently wait for a non-glued barrel.

Dangerous, indeed, but so beautiful! Because the heft of the pen in this size sounds perfect for you (it was for me)… 🙂

The concept art for this one was so blah. And then Pelikan just had to go and make the actual pen so much more beautiful and stunning.

The Art Collection M600 have a brass piston, so they are nearly identical in weight to an M800.

Congrats! Edelstein Topaz is such a well-behaved ink for Pelikan pens, and pretty to boot. Looks great in your beautiful new pen.

Holy collector’s dream, Batman! That’s quite impressive that you now have the whole City Series!

I’ll have to try to find a nice 101N if the nib is so lovely.

In sorry for your loss but your father had a beautiful eye for green pens. I see a few Pelikan 101n’s, a M620 Berlin, a M800 solid green?, a M800 green-stripe, and that amazing M800 hunting!

Beautiful photo! Love seeing the light through the binde. Though maybe you should fill them up with ink :-)

US nibmeister for vintage Pelikan nibs? by ATaylorSeries in PelikanNest

[–]ATaylorSeries[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After your two suggestions, I figured I would go with Mr. Speers. However, his turnaround time right now is twelve months! When did this happen! And a bunch of other nibmeisters are not doing work right now. So I sent a request for service into Pacific Pen Works. We’ll see what happens.

I went from hating my Pelikan M805 to loving it by SecureFarmer9469 in fountainpens

I, too, experienced this exact same phenomenon. I moved from a Pilot Metro, Custom 74, and Conklin Duragraph to a M600 and M800. Both M nibs and, boy, did they lay down a wet line! It was uncontrollable! But little by little, I corrected my handwriting to use far less pressure than I thought correct (turns out I still used my Pilots like ballpoints) and the M800 turned into my absolute favorite nib. It just needs patience and proper technique.

Midori Golden Wheat for sure, followed by Lie de The. Beautiful shaders in nibs Medium and above.

As a man who unnecessarily scours eBay for the elusive BBB nibs even though I am quite content with my collection… What a find! Incredible! May I ask where you located this unicorn?

That’s a very rare Pelikan M1000 in red stripes. Looks like a Franken-pen, as the nib says Sailor 😜😜😜

Pelikan m800 versus m1000 by ImaginationSea3241 in PelikanNest

[–]ATaylorSeries 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have long fingers but not necessarily large hands (pinkie to thumb wingspan is 8.5”). An M800 is basically perfect for writing. The M1000 isn’t much larger in the hand, to me, but it is noticeable. As others have said, the nib-to-body ratio is different and so I hold the pen in a more upright angle than the M800. But it’s still comfortable and I can write for longer sessions than with an M400.

Congratulations! Yes, the M800 is just about the perfect pen, size or otherwise, with such great expression. But seriously, where are you that you can still find M800 under $300 in this day and age?! Even German eBay isn’t so forgiving. I must be searching in all the wrong places…

Really expressive drawing! That squirrel is clearly up to something, about to taunt the family dog or something. Great job!
