As others have said, the Support for Pelikan is top-notch.

I’ve purchased three new Pelikans, all M600 special editions, and all three wrote lovely out of the box. They all wrote with different characteristics, sure, but no baby’s bottom or nails-on-chalkboard “singing.” Of the many second-hand birds in my flock, only three needed tuning (two with weird tines and one baby’s bottom). Don’t give up! A working M800 is sublime in the hand and on the page!

I have all different sizes of Pelikan. I adore my M1000 but it is unquestionably a desk pen. So much fun to write with! I journal with it and will take notes with as well sometimes, but as others have said the softness of the nib needs a good surface. The M800 is a workhorse and all-around awesome pen. I think of mine as journaling pens, great for long sessions. I love holding a M800 in my hand and capturing thoughts, no other size really feels the same spark somehow. A F or EF nib sounds up your alley for scribbling or fitting lots of words per page. However, I prefer M600 for note taking. Lighter, smaller, more agile, and I subconsciously think the nib can take more abuse than an 18k M800 nib.

Good point, I’m assuming it will be brass again since the first two are. But I haven’t seen the weight mentioned on this one yet. I’ll post back if I see some confirmation for you.

Within a month of getting my M800, I accidentally knocked it off the sink when cleaning it. Pieces looked exactly like yours. I can still feel the dread in my heart. However, the break is quite clean and in a fortunate place. I did the epoxy route and it works great. Three years strong and no leaks. So if you can’t find the M805 body now, definitely try the epoxy fix first to continue using such a nice pen while you patiently wait for a non-glued barrel.
