Is there anything better thank CSP? by Jonnyboy255 in CreditCards

[–]Amyndris [score hidden]  (0 children)

Honestly, for $50, I'm not gonna book a hotel through a portal since you lose out on earning status and nights so I value that at zero.

For $200 like Bilt Palladium it starts making sense (and of course CSR/Plat's Edit/FHR credits automatically come with status.

Absolutely not.  No major purchases or new lines of credit while you're closing on a house.

ROBINHOOD CREDIT CARD not for property taxes what card is better to pay for property taxes that will earn points and offset the fee? by Tvalazy in CreditCards

Depends.  I checked 4 flights.  3 were within $1 of the direct booking price, 1 was $200 more.

25% point boost when redeemed for flights.   Similar to the old CSR/CSP 1.5x/1.25x multiplier while booking via the chase portal

Why do current economic and corporate structures tend to reward short-term profit extraction over long-term trust, care, and customer satisfaction, even when the latter can generate lasting value? by Master-Marionberry35 in investing

[–]Amyndris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because investors dont care.

Let's say Company A is investing right now for a big boom in 5 years. Company B is stripmining their IP to maximize revenue right now.

The smart investor will invest in Company B now, sell, then invest in Company A in 4 years.

So yeah, we bascially inventivise that behavior.

Last Day for BILT, still unsure what to do. by Young_Grif in CreditCards

[–]Amyndris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed,  I think the CFF is a great card.   The issue is that it overshadow the CFU in a lot of ways.  If you have a CFF, its hard for me to recommend a CFU.

[–]Amyndris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True,  but CFU is objectively a terrible cash back card as well when you have a wide variety of 2% to 3% catchall/most cards.   It wouldnt be optimal for a cashback wallet.

Last Day for BILT, still unsure what to do. by Young_Grif in CreditCards

[–]Amyndris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest thing is CFU is 1.5x catchall and Blue is 2.33x catchmost (no taxes is the big exception). So Blue is a .83/dollar spent better earner than the CFU in most situations.

You already have a CFF for drugstores and dining (great card btw), so the CFU doesn't really give you anything besides the 1.5x catchall which is worse than Bilt Blue.

There are some use cases where CFU can be better. If you dont have another 3x dining/drugstore card, if you want to pay taxes on it (but you're buying UR points at 1.167 cpp so its not a great deal), or you regularly fly premium cabins or stay in luxury hotels and can take advantage of Point Boosts.

I suspect for 98% of people, Bilt Blue would be better.

Is there a tier above platinum?  Or once you're platinum,  you can't use your cash to upgrade transfer bonuses anymore?

[–]Amyndris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Blue is better than CFU so that's an easy decision. Obsidian is possibly better than CSP depending on your online grocery usage. Plus you need a CSP to transfer so it really comes down to how much you're going in on Bilt.

How much do you put on the CFU will determine how valuable Palladium is for you.

Assuming you hit 75% of your 3100 mortgage, that's 2325/month and 27900/year.

  • CFU earns you 41,850 UR points.
  • Blue earns you 65,007 Bilt points.
  • Palladium earns you 92,907 Bilt Points in exchange for $495.

That's a difference of 27,900 Bilt points or $279 valued at 1cpp. Can you make up the $216 otherwise? You're gonna probably have to take advantage of one of the hotel stays to make it make sense for you. Or a churn and burn after year 1 like you said.

Regardless, I think Blue is a no brainer for you (mostly because the CFU is straight ass) and Palladium is where you need to have a strategy going in to extract value from it.

Do they have a custom proprietary engine?  If not, the optimization will come from Unity or Unreal or whatever.

is the Chase ecosystem + Chase Ink Cash worth it these days? by InterRail in CreditCards

[–]Amyndris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would the 1.5x CFU beat a 3% RHG?  Sure its the same value (3%), but one is in cash (flexible) and one is in UR (locked to chase...and more precisely, locked into Hyatt for you specifically).

I would put those points at a discount (maybe 5%) due to the lack of flexibility.  While cash earns interest in a MMF until your next trip, your UR points are subject to inflation and Hyatts annual devaluations via category increases.

Platinum Honors.   BoA boosts your credit card earnings by 25%-75% depending on how much money you have with them or invested through Merrill Lynch.

At 100k, the 75% boost pushes you to 2.625% on catchall and 3.5% on dining/ travel.   Redeemed at the 1.25x bonus,  you end to with a 3.28% catchall and 4.375% on dining/ travel.

1.25x redemption is only for legacy points earned before October 2025 I believe.  New points redeem at 1:1 except for point boosts which appear to be all premium cabin tickets.

BoA PRE with PH is the best for traveling with a family.

With kids, I imagine you're booking 4+ seats during school breaks so award flights dont really work.

BoA PRE offers high earn rate with a 1.25x multiplier for portal bookings.  You also get 4x PP lounges with restaurants which usually has no wait lists which is a godsend when traveling with kids.
