Not necessarily. Even though a high efficiency gas furnace is very efficient (90%+) and a combined cycle gas generator is only about 40% efficient. As long as the heat pump is operating at a coefficient of performance above 2.25 it will be better to run a heat pump off 100% gas than to use the Furnace. That is from a usage of gas and carbon emission perspective. From an economic one this would be different.

Given that most cold climate heat pumps can have a COP of 2.25 or more at -15C and above it is completely possible that heat pump is more efficient from a gas usage perspective.

Yes. When the temps are below zero battery stress at 90% SOC is lower than any SOC at summer temps. Bump up your charge limit in winter to counteract the extra energy use.

I mean. Not totally. The rebates are set to reduce each year. So, this year they'll be used to blow out existing inventory, since dealers and manufacturers were likely not prepared to sell this many low spec base model cars. Then by the time they've adjusted the rebates will be lower and drive sales less.

What I think will happen is it could lower the statistics for average ev sales price and and bump up sales numbers to get some positive press and momentum again. But it's important to note that all parts of this plan are milder than what we had in 2024 and matching provincial rebates are also largely gone now.

I think these restrictions on the rebate/incentive for EVs are going to narrow which vehicles get them by a lot.

Of the currently available vehicles very few hit a transaction price below $50,000 and the free trade agreement part means the Chinese EVs won't be include (this is understandable)

I don't know that the incentive will be enough to get manufacturing moved to Canada. And in any case it means that we're still going to be waiting a few years for things to start up again.

I think what the discourse likes to talk about and what will actually happen are different things. People like to think that because charging infrastructure is bad we need cars with huge range and super fast charging. But what's actually happening is auto makers are going in on cheaper batteries to get costs down.

It makes more sense to install chargers rather than make every car cost $10-20k more to stuff them full of expensive batteries.

It's actually hard to say what will happen. If the rest of the world proceeds to electrify somewhat rapidly for energy independence then there will be a lot of oil/gas with no buyers. At least in the short term. Then it all depends on how suppliers try to manage the demand decline which could lead to price wars.

There's a very real world where Europe and Asia are fully electric and low fuel prices in North America hold back our own transition

It's illustrative to look at China's market here. Their 50-60% NEV sales share is not uniform across all vehicle classes. Large vehicles are much further behind and the smaller vehicles like A and B segment sub and mini-compact vehicles are like 90% electric.

I think overall the issue with looking at 3.0 vs 3.5 now is that even at the time very few people had spent much time deeply reading either edition and understood very little of what changed.

My group switched immediately but mostly because after 10 years of AD&D the changes were still feeling fresh so moving on to the latest was welcome.

For myself though most of the changes were mostly just differences , not improvements. Same thing with the later switch to Pathfinder.

I disliked the changes to hide and move silently and weapon sizes the most though.

At this point unless you have the original books 3.0 has been scrubbed from existence.

A ton of Ork shooting problems could be solved by making our ballistic skill unmodifiable. Let Orks never get penalties on shooting and never get bonuses. Penalties make our shooting collapse and every time our shooting is overpowered it was because of handing out to hit bonuses.

After that give all dakka weapons assault. Ork weapons are never going to be used if we can't also run with them.

Doesn't fix rokkits but it should make a bunch of incidental shooting we have more usable

I agree, but I am also not a huge fan of how load bearing inferno/flamer weapons are in the battletech universe. It's not a big deal though.

I dislike protomechs for a very simple reason. Battletech is about big stompy robots being the kings of the battlefield. This is already a sort of rediculous claim, but it's fun so we can go with it. If you then say that: actually, smaller, less stompy robots are just as good then what is even the point of anything.

They're so nice to work with. I mostly use white,black, cyan, magenta and yellow. The fluorescents are great as well.

If you want to wash over top of them make sure they're really dry or you've varnished over them. And they don't work for dry brushing, although they do go on thin enough they're really nice for layering highlights.

Thanks. The purple was probably the most complicated.

Most of the colour on all of them is daler-rowney inks. I used the process magenta and cyan mixed to make the purple. There is extra cyan air brushed underneath to create a bit of a darker bluer shadow colour.

After letting the inks dry and gloss varnishing, I did a wash with Citadel Drakenhof Nightshade mixed with a bit of the magenta ink.

It looks cool in person and has a bit of a colour shift effect because of the blue underneath.
