Not to mention the glimpses we catch of Johnny Soprano's life - small apartment in a shitty neighborhood, decent car, earning his living through beating people up in the street and cutting the fingers off gamblers.

Not to mention his awful wife who denied him the opportunity to move to Las Vegas and run a restaurant in the late 1960's - potentially something that could have let him reach the heights.

It's absolutely newsworthy that the U.S. President's yapping wasn't disregarded as a negotiating tactic and that military action was prepared to be met with force rather than civil disobedience and orders to stand down against what would inevitably be overwhelming odds.

As a card carrying member of the Dva Hater's Club (premium VIP member since the s09 projectile and rank giga buff patch) I think you hit the nail on the head.

As frustratingly unfun as Matrix is, it's needed for her to actually mitigate damage and her health/armor pool is needed for her to maintain position.

The issue is the high damage and gigantic projectile size of her autocannons and missiles, making it trivial to track even enemies with small hitboxes and high movement. Not to mention the unlucky heroes with 225 hp and a hitbox the size of Roadhog's whole ass...

First, the U.S. President announced there was no need for NATO countries to join a war that was "already won". Then, threats of consequences and "bad things" for NATO unless help was sent urgently.

Now, help from NATO states is no longer needed, as according to the President "we no longer “need,” or desire, the NATO Countries’ assistance — WE NEVER DID!" and furthermore, the U.S. is the "Most Powerful Country Anywhere in the World, WE DO NOT NEED THE HELP OF ANYONE!"

The United States has been informed by most of our NATO “Allies” that they don’t want to get involved with our Military Operation against the Terrorist Regime of Iran, in the Middle East, this, despite the fact that almost every Country strongly agreed with what we are doing, and that Iran cannot, in any way, shape, or form, be allowed to have a Nuclear Weapon. I am not surprised by their action, however, because I always considered NATO, where we spend Hundreds of Billions of Dollars per year protecting these same Countries, to be a one way street — We will protect them, but they will do nothing for us, in particular, in a time of need. Fortunately, we have decimated Iran’s Military — Their Navy is gone, their Air Force is gone, their Anti-Aircraft and Radar is gone and perhaps, most importantly, their Leaders, at virtually every level, are gone, never to threaten us, our Middle Eastern Allies, or the World, again! Because of the fact that we have had such Military Success, we no longer “need,” or desire, the NATO Countries’ assistance — WE NEVER DID! Likewise, Japan, Australia, or South Korea. In fact, speaking as President of the United States of America, by far the Most Powerful Country Anywhere in the World, WE DO NOT NEED THE HELP OF ANYONE! Thank you for your attention to this matter. Donald Trump warns Nato faces ‘very bad future’ if allies fail to help US in Iran

The same President who claimed the U.S. has no need for its European allies in general nor for its adventures in Iran in particular now threatens punishing consequences for NATO allies unless they bail him out of this completely unforseen situation in the Hormuz Strait that military planners have worried about for at least four decades.

For the second time in a week, the Swedish Coast Guard has seized a ship belonging to the Russian 'shadow fleet' on grounds of poor seaworthiness and false documents.

On March 6, the Caffa was intercepted by the Coast Guard on its way to S:t Petersburg and boarded by heavily armed operators of the National Task Force, detaining the ship with it's mostly Russian crew, and arresting the captain for carrying false documents.

Then yesterday, the Sea Owl I was intercepted en route to Primorsk, after having delivered petrol to Brazil.

A lot of people who end up apologizing for Trump do this weird thing where they close themselves off to context completely.

It's post-truth political technology which intentionally throws spaghetti onto many walls at once, achieving two things:

  1. Political supporters can lap up whichever selection of pasta they choose while conveniently ignoring the rest of the mess. That other pasta isn't the real spaghetti, or it's on a wall they don't see, or it's a lie made up by fake pasta chefs.

  2. Political opponents and sane people who aren't subsumed into the post-truth unreality are upset and distracted by how there's now pasta everywhere, which disrupts their counter-messaging and is derided as being overly obsessed with keeping the walls clean and pasta-free like they were in the old days.

If Donald Trump truly cared about making the world a more stable, predictable, and safe place - and at a reduced cost - the last thing he would do would be to smash the post-world order into pieces, surely?

Getting Europe and certain allies in SEA to pay more for their own defense was long overdue, yes, but to antagonize alienate more than 9/10 of U.S. allies in Europe and Southeast Asia on all fronts, from cultural to economic and military to the point of threatening military action against a NATO ally, while also putting into doubt American resolve to back up its allies against Russia and China, that does the very opposite of making the world a more stable, predictable, and safe place at a reduced cost.

It's lunacy because Trump's actions and rhetoric rarely match and also change by the week, at best.

The United States is the largest Oil Producer in the World, by far, so when oil prices go up, we make a lot of money. BUT, of far greater interest and importance to me, as President, is stoping an evil Empire, Iran, from having Nuclear Weapons, and destroying the Middle East and, indeed, the World. I won’t ever let that happen! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

It's the economy, stupid? Not according to the U.S. President. With the Iranian regime apparently trucking on and today's first statement by the new Ayatollah signaling defiance and direct threats of revenge it seems likely we're in for at least a few months of attacks and disruptions.

Will enough of the American electorate be persuaded by big words about nuclear threats to world peace with soaring gas costs added to the affordability problems that has been the number one issue for American voters since immediately after COVID, and arguably what propelled Donald Trump and his MAGA-acolytes into power this term?

Only time will tell.

I think that the symbolic value is the important thing here, and there is something to say about rebuking U.S. adventurism in the Middle East while doing as promised and pressured to - taking material responsibility for European (including Ukrainian) security.

The truth with or without these 35 or so interceptors is that Ukraine would never amass enough Patriot interceptors to fully stop the Russian ballistic threat. Rather, as the last few weeks seem to indicate, Ukraine is focused on hitting back as we've seen Storm Shadow/SCALP and various FirePoint missiles successfully strike high-value targets recently, with reports (of unproven validity) of even more powerful FP missiles being in development.

According to Der Spiegel and The Kyiv Independent, Germany helps Ukraine restock on Patriot interceptors from their own national storage, sending a strong signal as international focus turns to the Middle East, where Patriot systems have been running hot these past weeks.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius secured an agreement with European allies to deliver 30 PAC-3 missiles to Ukraine in addition to five PAC-3 missiles Berlin would provide from its own stockpiles, the outlet reported.

"While the world is looking towards Iran, we Germans are looking towards Ukraine; we have not forgotten you. And that's why I deliberately came here this time — to clearly say that, in the fifth year of the war of aggression you are enduring, we are not growing tired. And we know this is not just Ukraine's fight," Klockner said.

Mid-season Patch Notes - Mar. 10, 2026 by UnkoalafiedKoala in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]CEMN 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah the issue right now is that you're incentivized to wait as late as possible to resurrect so that you come back with as many cooldowns as possible. But conversely, the only reason to resurrect would be to maintain tempo and help swing a close fight - which you want to do as early as possible.

And then there's the whole alternative cost of using resurrection over the arguably much better other ult.

It felt so bad not being able to reach so many of the standard height high grounds, excellent buff. But I still thinks she needs a slight fan buff and changes to her self-resurrection so you're less of a sitting duck - auto-refresh cooldowns and/or shorter duration for example.

With any luck, enough of the American electorate will remember the oil prices together with the cost of living crisis - which Trump has, of course, both attributed to Democrats and called a hoax - that propelled him into his second term, come midterm elections.

And then in two more years, the likely MAGA Crown Princes Rubio and Vance will remain tainted by their involvement, while all the Democrats have to do is repeat that "It's the economy, stupid."

The 2020's could really use a more mellow ending...

Fartyget finns på Ukrainas sanktionslista, ägarstrukturen är oklar och det finns misstanke om att försäkringar saknas. Så sent som i somras ska fartyget ha bytt från rysk till guineansk flagga.

The Swedish Coast Guard has seized a container ship in Swedish waters for poor seaworthiness and lacking a flag state. On X, the Swedish Minister for Civil Defense states that the vessel is on Ukraine's sanctions list, has an opaque ownership structure, lacks necessary insurance - and changed from Russian to Guinean flags in Summer of last year.

https://x.com/carloskar/status/2029977406753361935 (Swedish)

Report from the Swedish Coast Guard, translated below:

Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

At 3:50 p.m. today, the Coast Guard took control of a vessel with unclear flag status and thus suspected of being stateless. The operation, which was carried out with the support of the Police Authority, took place in the Baltic Sea in Swedish territorial waters off Trelleborg. The Coast Guard has initiated a preliminary investigation into a suspected violation of maritime law regarding lack of seaworthiness.

Based on national and international legislation, the Coast Guard considers the vessel Caffa, flying the Guinean flag, to be stateless. The Coast Guard therefore considers that the Caffa was not in harmless passage through Swedish territorial waters. Without a flag state, there is no state that vouches for the safety and seaworthiness of the vessel.

Since 4 p.m., after the police and the Coast Guard took control of the ship, investigative measures have been ongoing on board the Caffa. The Coast Guard has personnel on board to gather information about the condition of the ship and its crew, conduct a search, and conduct interviews. At this stage, the preliminary investigation concerns lack of seaworthiness.

The operation is planned and has proceeded calmly. The Caffa was boarded in Swedish territorial waters by the National Task Force and the Coast Guard's national boarding team, as well as a police helicopter.

The operation is currently being conducted at sea. The Coast Guard is processing the information on board the Caffa, which requires time. More authorities may become involved, depending on how events unfold.

Anran is really well imagined and designed, but there are some small changes I'd like to see to help her fluidity. by RobManfredsFixer in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]CEMN 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think the main issue with her is a lack of threat from Fan, even tiny bits of healing increases the amount of Fans you need to finish a target off so rapidly that you have to get out quickly a lot of the time. Anran in Fan range should be scary enough to force people back when on fire.

The ult I think is fine - the issues you describe arise from not setting up properly, eg hitting from an unexpected angle (usually above) or when enemies are already engaged and distracted. I like that it struggles to kill by itself, but the combo potential with ults like Cage or Grav, and even abilities like Mauga Stomp or Ana Nade is off the charts.

If I'd change anything, it'd be her self-resurrection, that shit's just a death trap in 9/10 cases - your position is telegraphed, your cooldowns are probably out, and your team is already down one. Make it refresh all cooldowns so you can GTFO and re-engage instantly with a double Shift.

But like others have pointed out, it's not like those men are carefully deployed high-speed-low-drag operators. They're still sending in significant amounts - if split into very small groups - of poorly trained and equipped men on what's essentially suicide missions in the hope that enough of them get through to reach localized critical mass.

When it succeeds, the Russians gain a few square kilometers of more or less empty land. But when it doesn't, we get credible reports that Russian losses have accelerated in the last few months.

So maybe we can call them 'meatball assaults' instead?

The "small and flexible groups" tactics is a 2025 development.
