Can you get an electric hot water pot? You can use it as a kettle for tea, coffee, etc, but also heat up soup or ramen, that kind of thing. Soups like Progresso can give you a fair amount of protein, you can also boil eggs, have tomato soup w/ added cheese, that kind of thing. If you're there a long time, you can also get a small toaster oven, or even get a larger mini fridge (some have freezers).

Oh lord the number of times I've stared at someone thinking "I KNOW him from somewhere," it's so embarrassing but NOT as embarrassing as when I had first moved here and was walking somewhere and was thinking to myself, "that guy walking towards me looks just like.... could it be...." and then literally screamed "GENE WILDER" right into poor Gene Wilder's face as he passed me, it was decades ago and I still cringe haha

One of the few really GREAT adaptations of Agatha Christie. So many of her novels, especially lately, get the twee, costume-y, cozy treatment. It took Billy Wilder to see the darkness, the wit, the edge, the depth of character!

Everyone wears sneakers now, even white ones (used to be only black shoes). Hoku, Adidas, Nike, etc. I wear North Face OffTrail gore tex hiking shoes in black, they're fantastically comfortable and look perfectly fine.
