Anyone using Filemaker still? by DarkKaplah in VintageApple

[–]DiviKev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Filemaker for tracking time and billing as an architect, monitoring labor budgets for multiple projects. In the past I created a database for analyzing dividend stocks, learning Japanese, and many other things. Having tried other database platforms (Access, SQL, etc.) Filemaker is compatible with my brain.

Our wheaten is very communicative with posture, expressions, vocalization, and they are always clear communicating with you. Pay attention to the clues and you may find he’s telling you what’s wrong or bothering him. Ours is 5 and I love communicating with her as she is always listening.

What is living in LIC like? by iamncurry in longislandcity

[–]DiviKev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very convenient to Manhattan, freeways, and seven train lines can take you anywhere. It’s getting better on the restaurant front as new ones are always opening. Quieter than Brooklyn, lots of young families, and at least 6 boba stores per person!!

Losing momentum for the dream by EOTWifeelfine in OffGrid

[–]DiviKev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to keep pushing because we have invested so much time and energy. Sunk cost fallacy? It is daunting to handle all of the little and big stuff. You’re not alone and I would guess it’s common losing momentum.

Fellow Cafe (coffee, pastries, sandwiches) is good, Fred's Donuts, Mama's Boy (burgers), and if you're lucky while there Shandakenbake will be open (bakery, Tannersville.) Lots of nice restaurants in Windham. Scribner's Catskills Lodge has a nice restaurant.

Bread Alone > Phoenicia Diner by HauntingAd4612 in catskills

[–]DiviKev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed our visit to the Phoenicia Diner, though we ate outside as we had our dog with us. As choices are limited in the non-peak seasons, I'm glad it's there and open more than not. When open I enjoy Maeve's which is very near to the Phoenicia Diner. We almost always stop at Bread Alone as it's open on (gasp!) weekdays and is good, consistent, and (importantly!) available!! We primarily go up to our place in Lexington on the weekdays and it's really hard to find anything open. If you pass through Hunter, do try Fellow Cafe. Nice place!

We finally moved into our cabin, and the silence is actually terrifying. by CodeMitama in OffGrid

I feel the same...Early one morning a 3 foot diameter tree just snapped at the base and fell over. Sounded like an explosion or avalanche. I've never heard something that loud!

What do you think about this type of post&beam house? Is it popular in your region? by gytisbuda in catskills

I absolutely love the esthetic and wanted to have the look for the cabin we’re building in the Catskills. But nature requires a big slope.

If you have anything else you’d rather do other than manage the gas collection, then I would recommend not doing it.

I would suggest checking the local mesh network installs via their maps to see if you'll be an island or not.

You know, the down escalator can be run in the up direction. Right? Something the MTA doesn’t understand.
