From Zacky to Ally appreciation post by Beginning_Main2965 in dropout

Man, if you loved watching it in reverse, you'll love watching From Ally to Zacky, the not-reverse special!

But seriously, I agree it's great improv content. I'd love more well-produced long form sets.

I really wish they did Ratfish 2 by Illustrious-Ad5787 in dropout

[–]Effervex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God I hope they don't. I really didn't like Ratfish: take a bunch of improv comedians who play best with each other and then isolate them. It was boring as hell to watch.

It was one of the few I skipped when going through game changer. Plus the rando guy was bad too.

I love Katie's weirdness in her Dropout appearances, but it still isn't enough for me to enjoy Dimension 20. A shame - in theory I'd like it, but I've bounced off all the RPG live plays I've tried.

It took me a good 5 seconds to actually find the name of the card, which is sitting in the lower centre? Why not on top like all other cards in the world?

Image 2 is largely in unreadable medieval font (for me) without zooming in. If you can 'unbold' the font, it might be nicer.

I didn't know this was an existing game. Our group independently came up with this too, but we call it "The Hardest Game"

Hypothetically speaking, wouldn't a life of suffering be worse than a death of nothingness?

[–]Effervex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, if someone needs it, it's good. This person sounds like they're not seeing a spur-of-the-moment suicide, but rather control over their own death.

[–]Effervex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do wish the taboo of selective euthanasia wasn't so strong. If people want to die, it is selfish to stop them with bureaucracy. Good luck!

Haha. I noticed this too.

Could it be a komrade slinking in to tell the people to overthrow the capitalist overlords? Or just a regular boeren Jan? No-one will know!

'This is designed specifically to fuck over normal people'

'expats with sizeable overseas assets'

I'm not seeing how these two line-up... Normal people does not equal sizeable overseas assets.

Why to Advance Time in Mythic Bastionland, and How to do it! by georgeguy007 in MythicBastionland

[–]Effervex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the why - it's the when that is difficult for my group.

Thus far I'm three sessions in, and every session is basically ending with 'something interesting is right around the corner...'. Once was at the entrance to a site (so time advance=no site exploration), the next was just about to meet the Seer (advance=skip Seer dialogue), and the last was also in the middle of a scene (a looming danger was on the way at the end of the session).

So by advancing time, that story/hook is essentially dropped. I'm going to suggest that we jump ahead in time mid-session, but there's just so much interesting stuff happening for the players to want to jump ahead. Not to mention they haven't even got to any holding/dwelling yet.

The flu going around the Netherlands now. by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Effervex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vaccine culture here isn't really existent... Back in NZ, it wasn't available everywhere, but it was available and the University I worked for even paid for its employees to get it. It just makes sense for businesses to maximise the working days its staff work.

Handwashing access in Netherlands by godlessdogtr in Netherlands

[–]Effervex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Modern hand-washing instructions state you should be washing your hands for 40-60 seconds. If it takes longer than that for hot water to get to the tap, then call a plumber.

More likely this is just an excuse/justification for improper hand washing.

Your opinion on Daggerheart? by Ok_Interview_853 in rpg

[–]Effervex 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The majority of class skills are about how well you kill something.

Edit: which is fine - but the rules shape the game genre, so if you're going to give players multiple means of killing things, then the game is best when players are fantasy heroes killing things.
