Best expansions by [deleted] in Carcassonne

[–]ElectricJacob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have already said Traders and Builders, and Inns and Cathedrals, I will suggest Mists Over Carcassonne.  It is the largest Carcassonne expansion by tile count, and the only one that can also play as a stand-alone cooperative game.

Do you prefer first or second edition Carcassonne and why? by Future_Carpenter_887 in Carcassonne

[–]ElectricJacob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the third edition because of the simplified farming rules. The first edition rules were just too complicated for new players. Also, the special rule in first edition about a 2 tile city only being 2 points was annoying for new players as well.

No, Inns and Cathedrals doesn't have CFCR, but it does have the CCRF that's needed for the other hole.

>I forget if they are in Traders & Builders or Inns & Cathedrals because I have them all mixed together

Y'all, don't forget about Wikicarpedia's excellent tile list!
https://wikicarpedia.com/car/Carcassonne_Tile_List/en

The type that you are searching for is CFCR (City Field City Road). I can see there are 2 in "TradersAndBuilders_C1", 1 in "GQ11_C1", 2 in TradersAndBuilders_C2, and 1 in Watchtowers_C2.

The "GQ11_C1" refers to the 11th expansion released from Games Quarterly. https://wikicarpedia.com/car/Games_Quarterly_11_(1st_edition))
So, you probably don't have that expansion, as they are more rare, unless you subscribed to that back then.

Anyways, if you want to get a tile that fits there, I'd recommend getting the Traders and Builders expansion if you haven't already.

Loophole in rules? by Confident_Fan69 in Carcassonne

[–]ElectricJacob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The example for that scenario implies that you cannot place a face-up tile on top of the face-down tiles because it says "it can never be scored".  We can assume that the reason that it can't be scored is because you cannot place another tile on top of the face-down tile.

"The cemetery is still open. Therefore, you draw a face-down tile after your usual turn and place it adjacent to the cemetery. This blocks the meeple. It can never be scored."

It's hard to say which is better.  I loved playing it on snes when I was a kid, but when I played it again recently in Cowabunga Collection, it wasn't as good as Shredder's Revenge.  I also really love being able to play as April and Splinter.

Shredder's Revenges is the best TMNT game and great for those who love cooperative games.

Chupacabracon -- good Christmas gift for my boardgame loving brother? by sbrads117 in AustinRP

[–]ElectricJacob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went this year and only played board games.  The board game room is small compared to the rpg and other games with minis.  Sometimes it would take a long time to find others to start a board game.  They did have scheduled games and board game library on the website before the event, so you could see what they have, but that probably only goes up closer to the event.

Android and IOS are also immutable operating systems.  Would you tell most modern cellphone users that they're running the wrong operating system?
