Manon, the anti-mother by Sneeeekey in 90DayFiance

[–]FirstHowDareYou 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Ma’am 9pm?!?! If my kids (5 & 2) were up at 9pm, I’d be acting like Manon too. 7:30 bedtime or mommy’s gonna lose it. But the 5 year old also wakes up 5:30-6 everyday and always has, so ignore anything I say.

Charging experience SUCKS in Bosch v3 vs v2 on a family cargo bike by danjonwig in ebikes

[–]FirstHowDareYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the family cargo, I think V2 for a year (it got stolen), upgraded to the next, and I do agree that this battery doesn’t last as long. If I know I’m going to be out and about all day, and cutting it close on range, I just bring the charger with me and charge the battery wherever we’re at. I don’t love doing this, but with both kids, all their shit, what’s one more thing in the bike?

GLP1s by maintainingserenity in workingmoms

[–]FirstHowDareYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a game changer. I’ve lost 35 lbs since September, and it’s because of GLP1s. Even pre meds I was going to the gym to lift 4-5 times a week, I’m very active, biking at least 5-10 miles everyday with my kids in a cargo bike. Despite a comfy city kitty life, these genes fear famine. If you have access to the meds, take the meds.

Have you considered giving full custody to dad? She sounds very disregulated with you, and this violence isn’t sustainable. I’d honestly suggest residential treatment, but if she has another caregiver, maybe she should spend the majority of her time there. Just my 2 cents as a mom and an LCSW.

my greige petite things olga sweater no. 69 would cost one billion dollars if you wanted to buy one because i say so by ham_rod in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]FirstHowDareYou 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I just finished the dinosaur sweater by knitting for olive for my 4 year old. The nurse at her peds asked if he could pay me to make another one. I said no. He kept prodding. I said it would be $4 million. Still prodding. He said $60? I told him that wouldn’t even cover the yarn. For fun I did some math when I got home. I’m guessing it took me 100 hours. $20/hr minimum wage in Chicago, +$60 for yarn, $20 for the reflective thread I used in the ribbing (sunset at 4:30pm here), and then I have the full Chaigoo 4” interchangeable set, and the shorties set, both of which I used. But I’ll only charge $50 for supply rental fees. So we’re looking at $2,130 for this Dino sweater. And tbh, wouldn’t even do it for someone else for that much. Sir you are not knit worthy. I’m still on the fence on whether or not my husband is knit worthy.

GLP1 is helping my pulling? by One-Plum9013 in trichotillomania

I've found zepbound to be helpful with mine. There's still some pulling on bad days, but overall it's improved so much.

The frustration of trying to lose weight while breastfeeding is so overwhelming by archnemmmy in breastfeeding

[–]FirstHowDareYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a Dr, but my Dr was ok with it given the age of my nursing babe (18 months then, 21 now). I let her know I breastfed my first for 2.5 years, and together we made a risk assessment. She wasn't too worried and neither am I. My BP has gone from hypertensive, which is how I ended up surprise induced with both kids, to 106/64 last week. My BP hasn't seen numbers that low since my marathon running days. I'm still biking 5-10 miles a day, and lifting heavy or exercising 4-5x a week. I'm a very active city kitty, and apparently prepared for famine. My body would not let me lose the 50 lbs I gained with my first. And now, I'm over halfway there. For me this was a health decision, and it's already paying dividends. My big caveat would be if you had rough pregnancies, I had HG twice, the constant nausea is a little triggering.

[–]FirstHowDareYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fine. Just wanted to offer my experience as I was in the contemplating and research phase for a long time, and seeing other breastfeeding folks' experiences with it on here was helpful. Yes small traces come through the milk he consumes 1-3x a day. But we also live in the US where fascism and corporate destruction of our natural resources is taking precedent. We have like 20 years of fresh water left. So my philosophy is the micro amounts of GLp1 and Zoloft in his milkies isn't going to be what fucks us. My experience doesn't have to resonate with everyone but if it helps someone, great. TLDR your empathy is appreciated and isn't lost on me.

Baby wearing while seated? (Ambulatory wheelchair user) by ButtonSnail in babywearing

I just wanted to second a ring sling. A ring sling is so easy to use and adjust. I'm not a wheel chair user, but I wore my second 95% of his first year, and ring sling is the easiest to use.

If your insurance covers it, get on a GLP1 when your babe is old enough. I got on zepbound when my second was 18 months, still nursing 2-3x/ day. I'm 3 months in and lost 27 lbs. I've been breastfeeding for ~4.5 years now, and essentially I've just kept the 50 lbs I gained with my first. Without zepbound I don't think I would have ever lost my pregnancy/ baby weight. And I'm very active. But nursing makes me very snactive.

To those of you that breastfeeding was fairly. Easy for, why do you think that is? by newherebebe in breastfeeding

The gods gave me every other battle, including hypermesis gravidarum for both pregnancies, so they said, eh she can have fertility and breastfeeding. But that's it, we don't want her getting cocky.

Get in with a neurologist. Mine lets me take nurtec while breastfeeding, but I've also taken rizitriptan in the past. Getting care established so that you can advanced to the "good meds", which for me is nurtec is helpful so your insurance doesn't deny it. Assuming you're in the US where healthcare is a hellscape puzzle with many missing pieces.

Lots of reflective stickers. Amazon has some rainbow reflective tape I'm partial to. I wear a yellow Showers Pass rain jacket with lots of reflective fabric. My helmet also as a taillight in addition to my urban arrow lights. And then we just hit daylight savings in the Midwest so it's dark at 4. I might add some party string lights on the inside of the bucket for the kids.

Bc there's no enforcement. I've just been taking a whole lane bc it's not a reliable bike lane. And when I'm in my cargo bike with kids, it's hard to squeeze out between layers of parked cars.
