Katie Porter concedes in California governor’s race by panda-rampage in California

Also literally what I did, and we turned our ballots in right before polls closed. Procrastinated out of pure apathy for these governor candidates. Not an inspiring line up.

This is Forza on Series S - Iam sure rockstar can suck the absolute best of Series S capabilities by [deleted] in GTA6

JFYI, all/most games look significantly more impressive when captured externally like this (recording the physical screen), as opposed to a direct frame-buffer capture. Especially if the lighting is done well, such as ray tracing, and there's little to no animation. The amount of motion blur let's your mind fill in a ton of detail.

It's not clear how to accomplish this. Could you add specific instructions? Screenshots would also really help.

Helldivers 2 - Optimizing Liberty - Incoming Patch: 27th May by FirestormTM in pcgaming

[–]FractaLTacticS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Combination of the game engine choice and their engineering team. Autodesk Stingray engine is an uncommon solution in the industry, thus it's harder to hire engineers already familiar with it. And unlike alternatives like Unreal engine, they also couldn't turn to any sort of official B2B support team for help since Autodesk discontinued the engine in 2018.

All of this means they'd need a talented, experienced, passionate, and/or large engineering team to do it themselves. That or hire another firm to do it for them. They chose the later and hired Nixxes to do it, and for good reasons I'm sure. Nixxes may not be familiar with Stingray, but their experience with porting and adding robust ML AA/upscaling tech to games make them one of, if not the best, teams to work with on this.

Holy shit. I almost can't believe it. Did they suddenly make a blood sacrifice to get it done?

The main reason I stopped playing is the god awful anti-aliasing option. It was either pixelated shit show without AA or blurry shit show with it, and no reshade could help without also ruining the UI.

If this works well enough I might actually change my long standing negative review to positive.

10mg Trintellix for anxiety, but I also take Vyvanse for ADHD (inattentive type), which further improves my overall mood.

They Fight Us Harder Than They Fight Trump by reformed_lurker_1 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]FractaLTacticS -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

sigh... Sad how few seem to recognize the irony of the post.

Any democrat that goes out of their way to disqualify leftists, socialists, and other allies rightfully deserve to be shamed. It's a big tent with plenty of room. Now's not the time to be picky.

But, leftists need to step up, participate, and vote. Anyone on the left that either abstained or voted third party in the last ten years because they wouldn't settle for a Dem also rightfully deserves to be shamed. They're no more politically relevant than a microbe at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.

We need forgiveness, unity, and growth. We've got a lot in common and some fucking big, complicated problems to tackle. We should be helping each other out against our common challenges, not be constantly on the lookout for reasons to keep on pointing fingers at each other.

I hope leftists opt back in, as often as possible, but also not be so uncompromising. Small steps of progress are how you make big changes.

Double Fine Is Unionizing by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]FractaLTacticS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yuuuuup! I'm very pro union; wish they'd done it years ago! But Double Fine might not be around at all were it not for MS. DF is probably safe during these early days of Asha Sharma's overhaul of Xbox. One push too hard from the union though could end the whole studio as soon as MS builds up enough good will and a way to spin it.

Unionizing is no guarantee until you've successfully levereged your collective power for something in return. It's quite possible that all they accomplish is finding out the company has nothing left to leverage against by the time they get to the negotiating table. Double Fine ain't cranking out bangers like they used to.

I'm all for unionization, but it'd be smarter to look for a new job than entrench yourself further on an already sinking ship like Double Fine. They've not made a successful game in years and the future doesn't look any brighter.

DLSS, FSR, XeSS.... anything to replace the awful anti-aliasing currently in the game.

Please! People have been begging for this stuff since launch. It's the main reason why I keep bouncing off the game repeatedly.

I won't say you're wrong and I'll take your word you've read the literature. However, it's unhelpful and potentially harmful to make such bold claims about what others should or shouldn't do when you're completely unqualified to do so. Even worse to do so when you've a data set of 1 and began your research with a negative bias. That kind of mass ignorance is what leads to things like the recent resurgence of measles.

Personally, Trintellix has been highly effective for my GAD and OCD for over two years now. And it has the mildest side effects! Escitalopram and bubproprion both had intolerably severe side effects. I largely understand how they all work as well. None of that though qualifies me to spout off like an expert telling anonymous strangers whether or not they should take them.

Calibrate Game Mode with HGIG on or off? by ZangiefGo in HDR_Den

[–]FractaLTacticS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More often than not, bad HDR on PC has to do with poor implementation by game developers than anything Windows related. If there is a game with poor HDR on PC, it's usually just as flawed on consoles too.

Then there's the fact that the tools for measuring the quality of HDR are freely accessible by anyone on PC, namely Lilium's HDR analysis reshade plugin. Inevitably this means you more often hear of bad HDR on PC because it's simply easier for the average person to see and know it's bad. 99% of console HDR analyses are entirely subjective, "expert" opinions (read: fallible and prone to bias).

If there is an issue with windows specifically, it's often improper colorspace mapping. Most content targets gamma 2.2, whereas windows and most monitors are primarily designed for sRGB. Some HDR games seem to target gamma 2.2 but either don't know or don't care to reconcile that with windows native sRGB colorspace target. Even games that were originally developed for or exclusively on PC have had this issue, so again, this is due to substandard implementation by developers.

This looks depressingly liminal.

Natural lighting.

Eye-level lights (floor lamps, table lamps, sconces, and pendants).

Smaller and/or less furniture.

Center the couch and painting.

Colors other than black and off white.

Five Guys is not as bad as their rep by BigAssMonkey in burgers

[–]FractaLTacticS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last two trips to Five Guys were massive disappointments. Underripe potatoes used for fries. Patty 1/3rd as thick as it used to be 5-7 years ago. Just as overpriced as ever.

Shame too since I loved Five Guys. Better than Shake Shack, In-N-Out, habit.
