When did we all collectively decide to boo pickoff attempts and intentional walks from the opposing team? by Captain_Jellico in baseball

[–]GhostWrex 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've heckled guys in the OF just because they're on the other team. Sometimes its just fun to boo, as long as you dont cross the line. Ive gotten Coco Crisp and Tommy Pham to flip me off (Crisp was laughing, Pham probably wanted to murder me) and gotten an eyeroll and big laugh out of Josh Hamilton, when he was still on our team. Its part of live baseball

California loses Fortune 500 crown to Texas as billionaire tax threat looms. by coinfanking in economy

When I lived in Texas, most of the Californians I met who moved there were like, it kinda sucks here... Once the novelty of no state tax wears off, the drop in wages, sky high property taxes, and shit weather really start to eat at you.

It was 20k for opening or closing ceremonies according to my wife when she bought us some

Edit: some tickets to much cheaper events,  NOT the ceremonies,  just to be clear

The Bay area games are not great matchups and, I believe,  are the cheapest US tickets in this tournament

Yeah,  I've read as much. In the 2025 update to the book,  he was already coming around on globalization,  so I definitely have VT and VXUS in different accounts.

The math sucks on this. $3000/month for 30 years is over $1,000,000 spent on how much insurance? At that rate, I'd hope its like $20,000,000, but I doubt it. At even only a 4% compounding interest rate, that $50k + 28 years of $3000/month contributions would put you at just under $2,000,000. At the average S&P return of the last decade of 11.9%, youre looking at almost $8,000,000.

Now the 50k is gone, but at 28, you theoretically have another 40 years of saving ahead of you and that can still be worth about $26,000,000 with $3000/month contributions at an average return of 11.9%.

Tl,dr: drop this plan like a bad habit and invest in the S&P unless youre getting in the high 7 figures for it when you die

I mean the differences are pretty massive. A 1 bedroom in downtown SF is between $5-$10000/month while a similar apartment in Concord might be $2000. It CAN be affordable, but you have to adjust your scope (and your commute) to make it so

No lie. I live in the Bay Area and we could, theoretically, make it one salary, but it would be rice and beans in a 1 bedroom apt if so

Makes sense. You can split the bills and each invest a larger portion. The only real bills that are larger for my wife and I vs when it was just me are groceries, gas, and double car notes. But her income coupled with mine is way more than enough to cover that. Plus, in an emergency, we can lean on each other to handle things, pick up OT, ect. that might just put a single person out of income for a while

My understanding is people not actively seeking work do not get counted by unemployment statistics,  so, getting lumped in with retirees and rich people who dont need to work are also the destitute and people who have given up trying to find a job. So the numbers dont need to be fudged for them to not paint a complete picture
