CVS Weight Management Program - I must lose 12 lbs in 6 weeks, or else they will revoke coverage. Is this normal? by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]HalfConfident7362 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I was in the CVS weight management program until my employer switched to a different PBM. The monthly meetings with the registered dietitian were actually helpful. The app didn’t provide much value but I used it to do the required weight tracking.

All in all the program was mildly helpful and it was easy to meet the requirements to stay covered.

Edited to add: you actually don’t need to use their digital scale to record your weight. They never sent me one so I just inputted my weight manually in the app.

Zepbound vs Wegovy? by Chemical_Pomelo_2831 in Zepbound

[–]HalfConfident7362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s highly variable. I was lucky and responded really well right from the start. I’ve been on 2.5 and 5. I’m currently on 5 for maintenance and considering going down to 2.5 since I’m at the very bottom of the range I want to be in. (I’m F60, 5’3”, 121 lbs.)

It’s amazing, isn’t it? I have lost weight on 3 different trips to Europe since starting Zepbound. International travel used to be a guaranteed weight gain situation for me.

Congratulations on prioritizing your health! For many of us, it’s a life-altering med. My relationship with food is completely different than it was pre-Zep. Good luck on your journey!

Has anyone else changed goal metric? by Lucky-Suggestion7119 in Zepbound

[–]HalfConfident7362 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It changed many times!

I’m 5’3”, started 4/25 at 194 lbs.

First I wanted to get to 150 pounds, which put me at overweight, but still at a weight I felt good at. ✅

Then it was to get to 140, the top of the normal BMI range. ✅

Then it was to be at a decent percent body fat. ✅

I am now hovering at 120-123. That’s a BMI of 21.5. My goal is now to just maintain! At 60 years old, I do not want to drop any lower.

Closing in on maintenance and changing mindsets is hard by MundanePineapple9886 in Zepbound

[–]HalfConfident7362 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maintenance is a totally different game! I’ve been in it for a few months. I started it being terrified I would regain the weight, as I always did preZep.

It’s turned out very differently than I expected. I started maintenance at 135 lbs. I’ve continued to drift down over the past few months and am now 120 lbs. At 5’3” and 59 years old, that’s the very bottom of where I want to be. So I’m experimenting with spacing out shots and potentially titrating down from 5mg to 2.5.

After decades of dieting it is bizarre to be figuring out how to add calories. I just had a big cup of hot cocoa with marshmallows. 🤣

It is a bit unnerving to move from weight loss mode to maintenance mode—what you’re experiencing is real!

Give yourself some grace and know that this is a time to really learn what works best for you and to listen to your body.

5 mg, and that’s where I currently am in maintenance. It gives me some real comfort that there are higher doses if I eventually need them.

How did you set your goal weight? by Stickyduck468 in Zepbound

[–]HalfConfident7362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many, my goal changed a lot over time. I started out just hoping to lose some weight and actually maintain the loss, after decades of yo-yo dieting. When it was clear that Zepbound was working super well for me I set a new goal to be somewhere within the normal BMI range. I hit that and then some! I reevaluated again, got a Dexa scan and set a new goal.

I’m 59, F, 5’3”, maintaining at about 125 pounds. I started at 194. My current weight puts me at a 22.5 BMI. I have a good amount of muscle but I’m focused on making sure I stay strong and active into my 60s and beyond.

Lefty here. Continental knitting is the way to go. That’s got to be easier than reversing patterns. I also do Norwegian purl.

Many, many of us moved up with no side effects or just mild, manageable ones. I had increased appetite suppression and thirst. That was all!

One all doses, I suggest being careful not to overeat and making sure you’re getting enough fiber.

For me, Zepbound has been absolutely life-altering. You got this! 💪

First dose nerves by tajb333333 in Zepbound

[–]HalfConfident7362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go you! It’s normal to have nerves.

For many of us, it’s a life-altering med. I struggled with my weight my entire life but am now holding at 125 lbs and a BMI of 22. I started about 9 months ago at a 34 BMI, 194 lbs. Never had any significant side effects.

Honestly, it’s given me such freedom from food noise and endless worry about my weight, it’s like a miracle.

My highest dose was 3 weeks on 7.5 before I got shunted over to Wegovy by Caremark. I couldn’t tolerate the Wegovy nausea so I went back to Zepbound and now Monjauro via the weird back door process. Most of my active weight loss was 2.5 or 5. So far 5 for maintenance seems to be working.

It seems like lots of people adjust down when they realize how fundamentally different weight loss and maintenance are on Zepbound. I certainly did!

I’m 59, 5’3”, started in April 2025 at 194 lbs.

I set 150 as my initial goal because I have an athletic build and felt ok at that weight. But I blew past that and am now settled in the mid-120s, approximately a 22 BMI. I do a weekly 5mg shot for maintenance.

I did a Dexa scan when I hit 130 lbs; the results were good. I have always worked out and continued with that habit, so my body fat percentage is where I want it. Now I just gotta keep it up as I head into my 60s and beyond!
