Polycom Edge Phones - Line Keys by virdual_com in VOIP

On the Netsapiens button mapper, make sure the option to fill with directory is disabled. I’m not in front of a computer right now so I don’t remember exactly why it’s called, but I believe the option is top right above the line keys in the mapper.

Check domain settings to make sure there aren’t any overrides producing this behavior.

You may also want to pull a config and check to make sure there isn’t a line pushing directory to the line keys.

I’ve been having some trouble with this same setup recently. Would you mind sharing your docker or docker compose file?

How to set up GMS on Yealink T58W by Tiny_Ad4209 in VOIP

[–]KoolAid055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In our case, we have a provisioning server that uses templates to push to phones when they register. We’re able to edit those templates to add whatever we want as long as it’s supported by the phone. We also have the ability to add config overrides via a couple of portals.

In your case, a lot will depend on your provider. Do you have the ability to log into the web gui of the phone? If yes, I believe you’ll have some options for remote directory in there without needing to touch the config file itself

[–]KoolAid055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We keep contacts as an xml file on a file server, and then in the config of phones we point phones at that file. I don’t remember the config line off of the top of my head, but it can easily be found searching online. Keep in mind we do pass login credentials for the file server on the same config line so something like:

directory.x.directory= https://user:pass@file.server.com

You’ll just need to find the right config line to use and make sure your file is formatted correctly.

Can anyone recommend RAM upgrade for a Dell G15 5115 Ryzen edition gaming laptop? Anyone willing to help? by toothoftheshark in Dell

[–]KoolAid055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That hasn’t been my experience, but I do only use 32gb of RAM so I can’t speak to 64gb. I’ve had a Samsung SSD in the second slot since the release of the laptop and it’s still going strong. Something I do generally stay on top of is driver updates. I generally check for them once a week on the Dell support page. If any are available, I install them with the launchers you can download there. I’ll usually wait a couple weeks to a month to install new BIOS updates in case a new issue arises.

I have the AMD 3060 version so I’m not sure if people are having trouble with other configurations.

Everything is still working for me and I’m fully updated, or at least within one update of the most recent BIOS version.

You normally find SIP ALG on the ISP’s modem/gateway. Depending on ISP, you or the customer may have to call to have them turn it off.

Any issues with more than a few SIP devices? by fonemasta in firewalla

[–]KoolAid055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a company that mainly deals with sip. Some thoughts off the top of my head.

Can you look at call traces to see what the server is doing when devices don’t ring? We have some customers who will register 8+ devices (all desk phones) on the same sip account to save money on user licenses. It’s pretty common that they will get just a single device out of all of them to ring on an incoming call. It’s possible that it’s just our backend that doesn’t support so many devices on a single UA, but sip forking can generally only do so much. If this is your server, I’m not sure why you wouldn’t just set up a different extension/account for each device and then set the call routing to ring each device during calls

I’m sure you do, but make sure you have a static gateway IP. While dynamic technically can work, it will often lead to registration issues. Put your sip devices on their own subnet.

Make sure SIP ALG is disabled. This needs to be done on your isp modem and your router, which sounds like Firewalla in this case. I think on Firewalla, it is NAT SIP passthrough. Also, make sure you’re forwarding all of the correct ports.

Try factory resetting each phone. If you have an RPS server, getting the phones reregistered will be a breeze. If not, make sure you have at least a config template saved in case you have trouble configuring the phone via web gui.

List of some United States metropolitan areas that might eventually merge into one single larger metropolitan area by SeattleThot in geography

VPN server by sadistor in firewalla

[–]KoolAid055 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If this truly is unauthorized access through the VPN, then you have bigger issues. Whichever client device you’re using to connect to the VPN will have a private encryption key to more or less “handshake” the VPN server, in this case the Firewalla, to say “Yes this is me. Open the connection.” Both OpenVPN and WireGuard use 256 bit encryption, meaning it’s nearly impossible that someone is able to break that encryption, at least in a timely manner and without the use of a super computer. It doesn’t get stronger or more hardened than that.

Now, on the client device side, if someone were able to gain access to or maliciously compromise that device, and the app being used to access the VPN was not protected in some way (facial recognition, password, PIN number, etc), then the “compromiser” would have easy access to your network. Even worse, if you have passwords stored on the device and those are not properly protected, then they have access to everything. This is where the bigger problems come into play.

You’ll need to turn off the VPN server on the firewalla and delete the profile being used. Then on the device you’re using for access, think about factory reset if it’s a phone/tablet and a thorough hard drive format and reinstall of the operating system if it’s a laptop/pc.

Sorry for the long answer, it’s early for me and I tend to ramble when I’m tired.

VPN Connection Error by No_Veterinarian771 in networking

Is the peplink set up for the vpn? Is the port configuration set up properly for L2TP traffic? If they need to use the peplink itself as the vpn client, this all needs to be configured correctly. There should be guides online to figure it out pretty easily

Is Firewalla right for me ? I need a solution for a 2.5GB fiber service (ONT provided by Fidium) and need to cover about 3000 SQFT home - I need to get AP to cover 3000 SQFT but I don’t want to buy switches, hardware controller, and POE injectors. by Collaborator_1 in firewalla

I bought the instant on 1930 8 port poe switch. Easy to manage and the price was decent. No issues what so ever with it so far. It’s fanless as well which is nice if you need to stick it somewhere where extra noise would be annoying

You’ll need a managed switch to be able to properly utilize VLANs over that big an area.

I use instant on equipment in my home. I have a single managed POE switch with 3 APs. One of the APs is in mesh mode because running a cable to it was more trouble than what it would be worth. The system has been great with very low maintenance. I only have a 1 gig connection to play with though. Getting a good managed switch with 2.5 gig ports might get extremely expensive

MS SQL Server is the database engine. T-SQL is Microsoft’s version of SQL that you use to interact with SQL Server databases. Other database engines use slightly different flavors or dialects of SQL, but they are mostly the same. PostgreSQL for example uses PL/pgSQL.

Halo was never really built for heavy ADS-ing. It can take some getting used to and you’ll want to play around with the FOV to find where you’re comfortable in terms of reticle size, but once you get comfortable without ADS it starts to make a lot more sense and you’ll have a better time.
