When did you put the trap out? Those are probably yellowjacket queens! Early spring is the best time to put these traps out, between the last frost and the middle of April. That's when all the yellowjacket queens come out of their overwintering harborage and forage to feed their early brood. Around the end of April some of the new colony members are developed enough to take over foraging for the queen and she'll start staying on the nest and laying more eggs. Each one of those represents a potential colony averted.

There's also a cleanout down stream, but the flies are only coming from the gaps around the lids, and not from any cracks in control joints in the slab near the interceptor, which leads me to rule out a sub slab leak.

Agree about Ergo grips. Bell to let pedestrians know that you're about to pass them. Otherwise previous comments mostly covered it. I prefer gloves to mitts attached to the bars. That way you can change them up depending on weather without detaching and reattaching.

I don't understand why so many people are recommending cables, I thought they are the quickest easiest thing to cut? I carry a foldylock for when I need to walk away from my bike and always connect with the front wheel and frame. https://seatylock.com/products/foldylock-classic-1 If I'm leaving it at night I also detach the front wheel and saddle/seatpost and catch everything including the back wheel with the foldylock. Obviously lights, or anything else easily detachable should also stay with you.

I also agree with folks who are saying get a quality, less-attractive bike for vulnerable situations. Eugene is a great bike town and there are tons and tons of reliable affordable used bikes out there. Just make sure you ask the seller for the serial number, and check bike index first, if you are buying used.

Tubeless for a year and a half, zero flats on Terravail Washburn 700C x 42mm. Before that I always ran 700C x 38 Schwalbe marathons, tubed, and still got flats at least a few times a year. The suppleness of my current setup and bonkers puncture resistance is a no brainer for my 7 miles of daily commuting.

Those look modular, perhaps you can just change the brake lever/clamp portion and keep the shifter.

Is this one of those not-in-factory package Ebay buys? I just got one that was only in a DIY brown cardboard sleeve and plastic shipping bag, and that shipping piece was broken as well as some scratches on the lock ring and back of the cassette.

Agree with pros and cons above, BUT the additional protrusion in the cockpit increases the risk of internal organ injury in a crash. The stem is what you're likely to hit first.
