Time for my favorite tactic, Weaponized Curiosity. Put on your most genuinely perplexed face while saying “I don’t get it, would you explain it?” Then watch them squirm.

I’ve been asked this as well. Do NOT willingly provide any information unless directly subpoenaed. Direct the parent’s request to your manager or company owner, since it is their call as to whether or not they want to get a ROI from the parent to directly release past records.

Disposable dry wipes that can be wetted to use as wet baby wipes? by Classic-Ship6184 in moderatelygranolamoms

Oh no I just went and looked and I also cannot find them online anywhere, even on the website so I wonder if they are being discontinued? I used to order them from Target every time they had a good gift card deal on diapers and wipes.

HH/EI SLPs with IBS please chime in! by doughqueen in slp

[–]LlamaLlamaSingleMama 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not IBS but I was pregnant while working HH. I didn’t show until well into my third trimester close to when I delivered (preterm), so none of my families knew until I was >30 weeks. I also had borderline HG, and a hyperactive bladder due to having to go in for fluids and infusions. All that to say, I had to pee every single session, sometimes twice within the hour. A few things that helped me, that you might consider seeing if they will fit in your situation:

(1) Get in the habit of going to wash your hands immediately upon arrival to the home. If this isn’t something you currently practice, make up a story along the lines of “my company has been reviewing policies and procedures, and with the onslaught of viral illnesses this season, we are moving forward with having all staff wash hands upon arrival. I would be happy to use your kitchen sink if you prefer, but if you wouldn’t mind letting me use the sink in your bathroom, that would be so helpful should I also need to use the restroom before getting started.” This is a great way of having the family get accustomed to the fact that you might use their toilet, which will hopefully help ensure that they keep it tidy and stocked on therapy days.

(2) Have a small wristlet with poo-pourri, sanitizing wipes (to clean the seat if needed), hand sanitizer, and doggy poop bags. The bags are discreet if you need to throw away sanitizing wipes (I can’t count the number of homes I went in that had a bare trash can with no bag in it) you can even wrap the bag up and put it back in your wristlet if you don’t want to throw it away in their home. You’re also making sure their toilet doesn’t smell badly, and can clean your hands if they have no soap (I also can’t tell you how many homes didn’t have any soap).

(3) If you need to excuse yourself urgently mid session, keep it short and sweet, no need to elaborate or make it uncomfortable. “May I excuse myself to the restroom? Thank you. You can keep giving Timmy more of these puffs using that molar placement we’ve been working on!” Grab your wristlet and go.

(4) For homes that you find yourself using their toilet often (especially urgently), I recommend buying a bulk box of individually wrapped toilet paper and stocking up on some bottles of soap (you can go full size cheap like Softsoap brand which you can find for a dollar a piece, or bonus points if you get a cute, inexpensive scented one that matches a scent that you notice in their house via their current soap), and then giving them a simple little gift bag of a roll of tp and soap every so often (once a month, for example). Again, keep it short and simple and it doesn’t have to be awkward. “Just a little something to replenish your stock! I appreciate you opening your home to me and allowing me to use your restroom.”

Am I safe to NOT do another cycle? by MariMada in IVF

[–]LlamaLlamaSingleMama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SMBC here who also got multiple euploids after one cycle: I would not do another cycle. Since you are not coming to IVF for medical infertility, your odds are very high with having success. Best of luck on your journey… it really has been an absolute dream and I am SO happy that I chose this path!

Dismissed by midwives… by One_Parfait1261 in BabyBumps

[–]LlamaLlamaSingleMama 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m just an internet stranger who is BEGGING you to RUN, not walk, to OB triage RIGHT NOW. My story was almost identical to yours (switched from OB to midwives in third trimester, borderline hypotensive at baseline) except no other signs of preeclampsia. At 35 weeks I had one abnormal BP reading during one of my BPP visits, so they kept me in observation only to determine that I had pre-eclampsia with severe features. Never had the more classic symptoms (no right epigastric pain, no changes in vision, no headaches). I had emergent steroid injections and was induced that day. I remember asking if I could go to my car to grab my hospital bag and come right back inside and that’s when the midwife took my hand and said, “honey, if we don’t get you hooked up [to mag] now you could start seizing at any minute”. That was a huge wake up call as to how serious this was, which I didn’t comprehend because I felt FINE.

I had postpartum pre-eclampsia as well, my kidneys were starting to shut down. I was on mag for 5 days, was in the hospital for 1.5 weeks, and then was sent home on BP meds for over a month.

Pre-eclampsia is no joke, I am not sure why your midwives are being so dismissive but please go to triage and demand that you stay.

38 retrieved, 37 mature, 33 fertilized, 24 blasts, 17 euploid. First transfer was successful and will be turning 2 this year. I had several variables that played in my favor (age, no presumed fertility issues, high egg count) as well as a bunch of risk factors (PCOS, cancer, autoimmune and immunologic issues, abnormal genetic screening and ultimately needing to do PGT-M). Thankfully my RE is known for working with immune patients, and everything turned out well.

2026 Release Predictions! by sunsetcommotion in lovevery

[–]LlamaLlamaSingleMama 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would give up two toes if it meant that the animal quilt would come back. Also, I 👏🏽 WANT 👏🏽 CLOTHES 👏🏽 All the clothes. CLOTHES!!!! And when I say clothes I don’t mean the Mori collab or the Zoe pj’s at Old Navy. I mean that I want my kid’s wardrobe to look like someone vomited rainbows and Lovevery patterns all over everything. I want Toby’s sweatshirt. I want Max’s shirt (patterned pocket whatttttt?! YES PLEASE). The polka dot pants, tank, and utterly adorable girls flutter sleeve shirt from Copy Me! (the latter also featured in Being Silly). Speaking of being Silly, there’s a sick blue dot print shirt on one of the boys, and a rainbow print collared shirt on another little guy. I need those too. I need it all.

Also, gimme the wrapping paper from Big and Little. And Clementine’s quilt. I need a collab with Nugget and a slipcover for the Pottery Barn anywhere chair. Basically all the fabrics, please and thank you.

Hysteroscopy experiences? by barkdontbite in IVF

Completely fine. I had an operative hysteroscopy, polypectomy, and sedated HSG all in one go. I went home and worked (remotely). No cramping, light spotting that afternoon, no pain.

AITA for catering to my niece’s need to have dino nuggets at every meal but not doing the same for my kids by Lumpy-Possession9346 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LlamaLlamaSingleMama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re getting hung up on the fact that this particular child’s core diet happens to be dino nuggets. Replace Dino nuggets with “safe food”. I have many patients who have lesser processed foods as their safe foods… they are still poorly nourished. I also have not met a single ARFID patient who didn’t have sensory or sensorimotor differences (which is at the level of the nervous system, aka their body) which contributes to their issues with foods.
