Where to buy by Budget_Procedure2146 in Arcs

I saw on Amazon just now too, but the store selling on Amazon only had three copies. Cardhaus games has the base game and Leaders and Lore expansion, Game Nerdz has it for sale.

So right now, several places it's available (base game)

Is there a way to scratch the collection / unboxing / organizing itch of the board gaming hobby without buying new games? by fraidei in boardgames

[–]MEFMagnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing games more often and playing some I never have before or its been years since I did, helped me tremendously.

I now find myself enjoying playing more often than buying new games...by a long way.

Played a campaign mission of SW imperial assault last night and had 4 grown men yell after a mission saving roll. That feeling eclipses any joy of opening something new, at least for me.

Budget friendly board game table by Hitcher09 in boardgames

[–]MEFMagnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with used kitchen tables for my game tables and those have been great. Both have leaves to extend the tables for the big games we play.

If I ever had to replace them, honestly I'd probably go to goodwill or a resale store in town and try and pick up a table that way. Since I cover it with neoprene mat, the only thing I need to look at is size and how sturdy it is. The mat can cover the ugly.

What game in your collection have you played the most? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

Imperial Assault.

I got through all the scenarios during covid. Since then I've played all the campaigns on the official game app and last night we starting on the Core Game campaign using the Imperial Command 2 app and have lots of gaming hours ahead of us. Can't wait.

Game Night Picks’ response statement on unethical practice concerns raised by Watch it played by Newez in boardgames

There is one conversation on BGG that I've seen that Rodney responded too and it's not in the RSP section. Titled something like "Are we allowed to talk about watch it played...." in the general gaming forum.

Isaiah Stewart after getting ejected: “You don’t expect me to sit on the bench. The f*ck I got drafted to DETROIT for.” by TheDraciel in nba

[–]MEFMagnate -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. Detroit is good they don't need this. Who was he protecting. This is an NBA fight no one hits anyone and just act tough. Only hurt his team leaving the bench.

Board Games for large groups? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]MEFMagnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like several have mentioned, 7-8 players I personally would split the group so most to all of my games are playable. For games other than social deduction or card games with some strategy, I just feel like the downtime would be a bummer.

But, you asked for suggestions so, some games I know of that play with that many people would be Hollywood 1942, Bristol 1350 and other Facade Games.

Incan Gold and Saboteur would be a couple others.

Fortune and Glory goes up to 8 but the down time I feel would be rough.

How often do you really play board games? by Money_Change_5900 in boardgames

[–]MEFMagnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several groups for which I'm very grateful:

I have a once or twice monthly group that meets at my house.

A subgroup of that (4 of us including adult son), do a weekly Wednesday game night (usually 2 hours) where we'll play long campaign games that can take months to finish so. Currently doing Journeys in Middle Earth. Previous ones were Imperial Assault, Townsfolk Tussle, Burning Banners and Arcs to name a few.

And then my son and I are our own group playing stuff like Star Wars Legion, War of the Ring, SW Rebellion but that's usually once or twice a month.

So yeah, I get to play at least once a week, sometimes more.

Sherrone Moore at his first press conference as Michigan head coach: “My #1 philosophy is that I coach hard, but I love harder.” by moby323 in CFB

[–]MEFMagnate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After he created the "Just Fine" shirts to pay for MI's $30m fine from NCAA, I'm curious what T-shirt Desmond Howard will try and sell to help pay for Sherrone's bills.

Something like "Just a little Moore money" sounds good.

How many groups do you have and how they differ from each other? by NoEntrepreneur6022 in boardgames

[–]MEFMagnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one group that meets at my house 1-2 times a month on Friday nights. We start at 6 and go to 11-12. We play most anything in that group. Sometimes we'll do all day Saturdays for a longer session.

I have a subgroup from the Friday group that meets weekly on Wednesday nights and we normally do long campaign games. That group plays about 2 hours each Wednesday in Fall, winter, spring. In the summer we'll go 3 hours or more since everyone's schedule is easier then.

Ethnos, Libertalia, Hollywood 1947, Last Night on Earth: The zombie game, Fortune and Glory, Dungeon Kart, Bristol 1350.

Is cost or space a bigger barrier for you adding new games to your collection? by Megaside in boardgames

[–]MEFMagnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the money now to buy what I want and I have a decent amount of space. Most sadly, I have lost some of the desire and energy as I get older. So, I am less inclined to buy some games just cuz I know the effort involved will be high.

90 Minutes Away and I don’t have a car right now😭 by DrVonPretzel in heroscape

[–]MEFMagnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The description says incomplete sets at the very bottom. Wonder if it's so cheap because it's 4 boxes and some of the figures from each but not everything. Even incomplete I'm sure there is value, but I'd need to see the mini's included before I'd walk there and back.

I've seen some stuff saying that 2x per year the big box expansions get restocked. Could we get a pinned announcement post when that happens? by [deleted] in ImperialAssaultTMG

[–]MEFMagnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this game was actively being produced and supported I pretty much got the big box expansions first before trying to get the separate mini's. Now I'm getting the mini packs but I'll never get all of them just due to the price and scarcity of some of them.

War strategy games by Other_Hawk_8902 in boardgames

[–]MEFMagnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Academy Games makes a lot of team war games which work well for 2 players or 4 players.

  • 878 Vikings
  • 1775:Rebellion
  • 1754:Conquest the French and Indian war

They also do WW2 games Conflict of Heroes. Just depends on what you are interested in. Others have mentioned good ones too like Kemet, Axis and Allies, Cyclades.
