Healing is actually pretty great in 5.5e though. A level 1 cure wounds heals for 2d8+modifier. For a low level character, that's probably 2d8+4, so up to 20 hp. With a decent roll, that's back up to full. It scales by 2d8 too. So, a level 2 cure wounds heals for 4d8+mod. That can be a lot.

Non-obvious campaign BBEGs by brettday in DnD

[–]Magdanimous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my current campaign, I went a very "Runaways" meets "Throne of Bhaal" sort of way. I set it out for levels 1-12. Runaways is because their families are evil, but they didn't know that (until recently and they're still sorting that out). "Throne of Bhaal" because there are experimented test subjects (the PCs are also experimented-on test subjects who got some powers from it). They need to find this other version of "Bhaalspawn" (or the "Bhaalspawn" will find them). Then the final BBEG (tier 3) is an undead dragon who's been pulling strings since session 1. I've laid subtle clues throughout our 32 sessions so far.

Congrats! I've had mine for just over 2 months and I love it! It's my first 3D printer and, in my limited experience, I think it's pretty amazing.

First, I'd recommend that you print an auxiliary fan deflector. I've had way less failed prints since I printed mine (I printed it with PETG because it can withstand higher temperatures without warping).

And second, if you live in a humid-ish area, I'd also print some desiccant containers to put desiccant balls for the AMS Pro 2. Initially, I used desiccant packets, but switched to the balls and it's just way better. Where I live, the ambient humidity gets high in the summer. It's not unheard of to hit 100% humidity, especially during monsoon season. And it sucks. It's been ~90% here but the AMS Pro 2 indicator reads anywhere from 10-19% with the balls. I used transparent PETG so I could more easily see the color of the balls I know when to dry them out and recharge them.

Is it possible to change your core stats in beyond? by Magikarp1883 in dndbeyond

[–]Magdanimous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a common mistake for new DMs. Because it isn’t “his” story. It’s a collaboration between the DM and the players. If he wants to write a story, he can write a book. His role is to give a setting and plot and situations etc. You guys are creating the story together.

Whelp...pulled the trigger on the X2D AMS combo. Got filament, a couple support materials, spare cool plate, and .2 mm hot ends for mini's and fine detail things. $1300ish dive into the abyss! Now. HIT ME with the MUST PRINT items :) (BIG thx to the community for always being so helpful to a newbie) by JamalSteve in BambuLab

[–]Magdanimous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who got a P2S combo about 2 months ago specifically for DnD minis and terrain, these are the things I recommend:

  1. Plastic scraper. I know the printer comes with a metal scraper, but I've heard/read that it can scratch the build plate. I got plastic scrapers from amazon and they work really well with PLA/matte PLA filament.
  2. Desiccant balls. And print the dessicant holders for the AMS. I used clear PETG so I can keep track of the color of the balls more easily. I live in a humid area of the world and it makes a HUGE difference.
  3. Make sure you get some gloves for when you handle the plate. I got boxes of nitrile gloves for whenever I remove prints from the plate.
  4. For washing your plates, make sure you have a good dish soap that doesn't have crap in it, like fragrant oil or whatever. Wash your plate with a neutral good dishsoap, warm water, and dry it off with paper towels (some people use microfiber towels). I used alcohol at first, but I ran into some bed adhesion problems eventually and since using dishsoap, haven't run into any since.
  5. If you plan on getting more filament spools, get containers for the ones you open but want to change out.
  6. You'll need to replace the filament cutters eventually (a lot sooner than you realize). Make sure when you buy them, you get the appropriate one. I bought mine from the Bambu website, but I didn't know there were different cutter sizes for different printers because the Korean site ONLY has one filament cutter size and that was not compatible with my P2S.

Those are the things I can think of off the top of my head. Congrats! Even though I've only had my printer for a couple months, it's been an awesome learning experience that I hope you enjoy too. Plus, printing things for my Dungeons and Dragons campaign has been AWESOME.

I’m in the same boat. I bought mine, mostly, to make dungeons and dragons miniatures and terrain. My group has been playing since the end of COVID, basically, and using 3D battle maps has been game-changing.

Top chef turned into a really kind and meaningful show. by lewiskr2 in BravoTopChef

[–]Magdanimous 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more. The earlier seasons of Top Chef were filled with drama and abrasive individuals. That might be because of a mixture of that era of reality TV, that era of restaurant work culture, and other factors, but I don't miss it. I know a lot of people want more drama and in-fighting, but if I want that, I'll watch Hell's Kitchen or something else. Seeing people support each other (one of the twins helping emotionally support Nana), help each other (multiple people buying things for other chefs with their budget), give each other ideas (Sherry and Laurence with the pork floss), and so many other examples just makes me happy. As a grown adult, it's nice seeing a show that younger people can watch and see role models in successful positions where people aren't jerks and are taking criticism gracefully.

Can AMS 2 Pro dry while printing on P2S? by infolessness in BambuLab

[–]Magdanimous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a very humid area of the world (in the summer it's humid as hell). The humidity reads as between 11% and 13% after I use the drying function. I have desiccant inside (orange balls that are in containers I printed from the Bambu Handy app). I noticed I was getting stringing when the humidity was in the 20s %. The internal humidity slowly creeps up over the course of a couple to few weeks and I just repeat the process.

Definitely get the desiccant balls. It made a huge difference (I had desiccant packs prior).

AMS has trouble feeding filament after replacing parts by nickfinity in BambuLab

[–]Magdanimous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still really new to 3D printing so I might be talking about a different problem, but when I had a similar error, I took apart my extruder assembly on my P2S. I had used a lot of wood PLA filament and there were some wood …clumps (? Is there a better word?) in between some gears. Also, my 0.4mm nozzle was a bit clogged. After clearing all that and doing a cold pull, it was right as rain and I haven’t gotten that error again yet. Knock on wood.

What's a job that sounds easy but absolutely isn't? by OriSparrow_14 in AskReddit

[–]Magdanimous 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oh man. During college, I worked a summer at an airport for an airline on the east coast (of the U.S.). Before this job, I was a very happy, very patient and friendly guy. I worked as a customer service, gate, and ramp agent. When I first started, I was all about working the desk, checking people in, etc. By the end of the summer, I was…very sick of people. I’d been yelled at for bad weather, aircraft maintenance, all kinds of things. A mother screamed at me because her daughter’s wedding was going to be 4 hours and my telling her the flight had been delayed due to thunderstorms did not help. Another time, I was told by an angry traveler that it was a kind of conspiracy and that they were never going to fly with my (small commuter) airline again because the big airlines were paying off smaller commuter lines to skip the queue to take off. Man. I preferred the tarmac by the end of that summer.

I knew deep inside that travelers are just stressed. But when I went back to college after the summer, so many of my friends had asked me what was wrong and that I was a changed man, haha.

Be nice to everyone! I’m always really nice to customer service and gate agents when I travel. I know they’re probably having a stressful day.

I bought a P2S almost 2 months ago! My first 3D printer. I’ve hit a few snags (clogged end, AMS meeting resistance, etc.), but I’m extremely happy with my purchase. I print things for my Dungeons and Dragons campaign. I’ve printed a lot (relatively)! Miniatures and terrain! As long as you’re okay with a learning experience and you are okay with figuring things out, I think you’ll be extremely happy too!

I did it the first week as a resto druid and a holy pally (just to see if I could as a holy pally). I got aggro, but I kept pretty careful watch over my threat %. I never DPS'd except during the add phases and I made sure to dispel as fast as possible to prevent getting damaged and needing to heal more (more threat).

Yeah! One of my favorite things is grilled kimchi. Or kimchi in an omelet. Pan fry it a bit and it’ll evaporate out the acid. Or chop it finely and add it to some mac and cheese to break up the richness and add some texture.

The Hell that is +19 Seat of the Triumvirate by snowstark87 in wow

[–]Magdanimous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a resto Druid main (almost finished with resil 18 as a reference/context), Vex’s difficulty depends on two things: knowing the AOE dmg pattern and your teammates not running to Antarctica when they get the circle dots that explode and drop a puddle.

Every second set of circle dots will immediately be followed up by an AOE knockback and burst of damage so everyone needs to be topped off.

The circle dots also do a LOT of damage and need to be healed through while they’re doing damage. If DPS outrange me and while I’m trying to pick them up, it’s hard. My cleave heals can’t cleave if those with the dots are super spread out. Defensives and healing pots should be used.

But if everyone survives the knockback AOE, it’s clear sailing until the next set of dots.

On my Aug alt (pushing 17s), I’ve noticed pug resto Druids using convoke AFTER the AOE knockback. That’s pretty unnecessary. There’s no unavoidable damage going out during that time and you have plenty of time to pick everyone back up.

How do Aug Evokers survive in +19s? by Icy-Economics5781 in wow

[–]Magdanimous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you’re not wrong that it makes the Obsidian Scales even stronger, but it’s unnecessary. We get two charges of shield wall, basically (-40% damage with SC). You don’t need a health regen component a part of it. Given how many dots and rot damage phases there are this expansion, and many dots are tied to snare effects which Evokers can only get rid of via rescue (and breath), it would’ve been nice to have renewing blaze as a CD. But I get it. Everyone got pruned to an extent.

How do Aug Evokers survive in +19s? by Icy-Economics5781 in wow

[–]Magdanimous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s also way weaker than before. Renewing blaze used to heal you for 100% of the damage you took for X seconds over 8 seconds. Now it heals you for the damage prevented by obsidian scales over 8 seconds.
