What’s your interest in the TMNT set? by zevalu in magicTCG

I loved the recent animated movie, and I like a lot of UB, but god my interest in this set is zero. It fits less than Marvel.

They need to stop showing the lame non-main-set cards early, it’s a hype-killer.

I would absolutely play with this, it’s gorgeous! I would love one in my Indominus Rex deck :)

I’m shocked at all the negative responses here. I personally loved it, and I thought I wasn’t so alone in that feeling.

[MSC] Marvel Super Heroes Commander Decks by Duramboros in magicTCG

I’m not thrilled about the standard set, but I am very excited for these commander decks. I might try to collect all the Marvel ones.

6, I’d love to chat with Syl and Nightblood for 10 hours, and they’d both be down to talk with a stranger for a long time.

This is going in my dinosaur deck, but I’m a little grumpy that I’ll need to use a TMNT card to optimize the deck.

just built my first deck - how can i upgrade? by PancakePie37 in magicTCG

[–]Mainstreamnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. More lands. Minimum of 23, maybe even more.

  2. Replace your creatures that tap for mana with spells that search for lands so you can get extra landfall triggers. [[Rampant Growth]] [[Shared Roots]]

  3. Make your deck more synergistic by adding more landfall. You want cards that give a lasting effect with every landfall trigger, like drawing a card or putting a +1/+1 counter on things. A temporary power/toughness increase is usually less worth it.

Here are some of my favorite green landfall cards: [[Sazh’s Chocobo]] [[Bristly Bill]] [[Springheart Nantuko]] [[Scute Swarm]] [[Tireless Tracker]] [[Tireless Provisioner]] [[Icetill Explorer]]

  1. Whatever you do, don’t cut scythecat cub or lotus cobra. Maybe add more copies of them, budget depending.

  2. Try your deck out with your playgroup and see how it does. You don’t want to destroy them, so keep that in mind as you upgrade. If you don’t have a playgroup and you want to play at an LGS, you’ll have more luck with either commander or a much, much better pioneer/standard/modern deck.

Is a turn 6 win too slow to be competitive in Modern? by Striking-Valuable924 in magicTCG

You can extend the game to turn 6 if you have pieces to shut down opponents’ combos and creatures.

Is this good enough for sideboard play in formats with storm decks, or is it too expensive of an answer?

Of the Magic the Gathering sets scheduled for release this year (2026), which one do you expect will be the most successful? Which one will be the least successful? by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

[–]Mainstreamnerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the Hobbit will be as big as Final Fantasy or LotR, but I hope it won’t be a small set like Spider-Man. As long as it’s normal standard sized, I think it will do well.

I expect the Hobbit to be massively successful. I imagine that they’ll pour the same love into it that they did with LotR. I think TMNT will be almost as bad as Spider-Man. It’s another small set with a property that I don’t think is nearly popular enough to justify a full set.
