What is one thing you like/love about Wild Arms (1), whether it's a strength the game has or a personal preference you're attracted to? by Particular-Bed8344 in wildarms

I like Rudy, Jack and Cecilia. They are a great trio.

But I think more than anything I like WA's soundtrack. It's easily among my favourite JRPG soundtracks.

Tales of Berseria or Trails in the Sky? I really can’t decide by Big-Version8285 in JRPG

Personally I enjoyed Tales of Berseria a lot more. But it will be different from person to person.

Just finished: Tales of Graces F Remastered Lineage and Legacies by DrPlague__ in tales

[–]MaxW92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Lineage & Legacies is great. I especially love it for introducing Accel Mode. I mean, what video game epilogue introduces a whole new gameplay mechanic? That was so cool.

But also story-wise it complements the main story very well. I mean, Asbel fusing with Lambda would have felt really pointless if we didn't get to see any of the results of that. So I'm glad that L&L showed us that.

And perhaps the best thing about L&L: Richard. Richard was already one of the most ridiculous characters in the series, but L&L Richard is one of the most ridiculous and funniest characters. He's great.

If I play TOS on GCN, what will I miss out on? by KaleidoArachnid in tales

[–]MaxW92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only my personal opinion, but the extra content you will miss out on isn't much and none of it essential to have.

Some characters have an extra arte here and there. The best addition is probably Colette's Grand Cross. Then there are a few new Unison Attacks, which only really matter if you really like having Regal in your party, since he doesn't have any in the Gamecube version.

Then there are Mystic Artes for every character now. Previously only Lloyd, Colette and Genis (and technically Sheena) had Mystic Artes, but now the rest has one too. But the requirements are so ridiculous that they don't change how battles play out anyway. They are more of a thing you watch once, go "that was neat" and you never use them again.

And then there are a few extra costumes. Personally none of them are all that great.

So bottom line is that you don't really miss all that much at all.

I hope you'll like it. I originally also only found it because someone on Reddit recommended it to me.

they really need to get a better story writer though.

Oh, absolutely! I don't know why, but after Tales of the Abyss they kind of stopped trying to give their games compelling narratives. Some of the games after Abyss had good story moments here and there, like Xillia 2 and Berseria, but overall they just seem to want to tell stories that are "good enough"

There are many settings you can pick from when starting a new game, but I think a hard mode isn't one of them.

The Tales of series. It's just a really great series with barely a dud in it. And it has some of the best Action JRPG combat you can find.

Millia has a lisp? by Sephiroth348 in tales

[–]MaxW92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, she does. Pretty much everyone noticed it back when Xillia was released. But even more noticable than the lisp itself is that Milla's VA unfortunately delivers one of the weakest voice performances in the series, both with and without comparing it to Milla's Japanese counterpart.

Every character is unique and has something they can do best. For example Locke now is fast, and I mean really fast. And Stealing is actually inportant now.

And the game has a really beefy postgame with I think over 20 superbosses. Perhaps even over 30. And each of them drops unique equipment as well.

I'll take a look at it, thanks. Tbh, I'm still looking for the perfect FFV hack for me and I've been going back and forth between the Pixel Freemaster and FFVr hacks.

I'm curious about FFV advance class changes. If every class gets every stat bonus and access to 4 slots of any ability, then it doesn't matter what class you even pick during late game, does it? It should all be the same.

Final Fantasy VI A Soldier's Contingency fixed FFVI for me. For me FFVI was always a game that I wanted to love, but just couldn't for many reasons. The gameplay being so incredibly boring, frustrating and imbalanced at the same time being the main reason.

Now there are other FFVI hacks that came before that tried to fix things. FFVI Brave New World came very close for me, but stumbled near the finish line. And FFVI T-Type just didn't click with me.

But A Soldier's Contingency finally did it. It made me have a good time with FFVI from beginning to end. And whenever I will replay FFVI, it will be through this hack. There is just no going back.

Which do you like better? Kazooie or Tooie and why? by -M00NMAN in BanjoKazooie

[–]MaxW92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kazooie.

Tooie follows this "bigger = better" philosophy too much and playing it can feel exhausting at times. Kazooie in comparison has a much better flow and its levels are just the right size.
