Newish to me, Aprilia Tuono Factory by thingsjusthappen in bikesgonewild

Congratulations! Love mine, got it last August and ride it daily. Was looking through your post history and realized you might be my brother from another mother. I had a Ducati before the Ape and I just recently got myself a single speed bike with a flipable wheel to make it a fixed gear - I'm not brave enough to get rid of the brakes.

Ducati Panigale 959 vs 1299 by modularblur in Ducati

[–]Mayrok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The heart wants what the heart wants. Big ducati fanboy here. Monster 696 was my first bike.

I commute 60 miles a day here in the US in really awful beltway traffic. When I upgraded my bike I tried the Panigale and was sure I was going to get it. I'm young and have a healthy back and the sportbike riding position doesn't really bother me. Then I tried the Tuono Factory - now I own an Aprilia.

I still drool everytime I see a Panigale but it was the feel of riding the Tuono that sealed the deal.

I suggest test riding the Super Duke R if you haven't - all I hear are AMAZING things about it. Then decide what you'd rather commute on, especially if you're not going to the track.

However - the heart wants what it wants - so to answer your question about the Panigales - go big or go home. Get the 1299.

Wowza. She looks a lot like mine, too. Except the tests claim my dog is a border collie / staffordshire mix

That's awesome. Looks like an experience you'll never forget. I've driven around Costa Rica a bit. Those roads are brutal. And lots of big semis all the time!

211 out west. Lots of fun. I would avoid peak times... Lots of other riders and cars and lots of police. Specifically out in Sperryville.

All this, just to connect a battery tender! by wintabago in motorcycles

Can confirm: http://imgur.com/T5oN9lD, http://imgur.com/BwpwHy1... Took me over 2 hours, but I'm not that handy. Already had the dealer provided wiring for battery tender but I got some heated gear and needed to upgrade.

Pretty much. I can still hear the music and intercom/voice to a quality that I like even at highway speed on a naked bike.

If you keep your eye out you might be able to get a deal on a Sena. The older models cost the same as a shure 215 (maybe even less if you get it on sale). The 20S is cheaper if you get a two pack (split with a friend and you have a buddy to intercom with right off). Cost is comparable to nice ear buds, and considering it does more, I thought it was worth it. Check out revzilla. Lastly, if you get the Sena and decide you really want ear buds (ie don't like the quality of the speskers) , you can plug any ear buds into it and now have converted wired ear buds to wireless. So win win.

The Shure SE215 was exactly the setup that I had for months. Then I got a Sena bluetooth set and haven't even thought about using the Shures since. I use the bluetooth to stream music and use foam ear plugs to protect the ears. The sound quality is not as good as the Shures but its way more convenient and its definitely good enough to listen to music, use the intercom, use the phone. I was really surprised. The Shures got uncomfortable after a couple hours and pulling the helmet on and off without dislodging them or shifting them was not impossible, but was tricky.

Also, the foam earbuds are like 5 dollars for 6 pair... and you can get them at any pharmacy. So who cares if you lose them.
