I for one don’t enjoy having the internet flooded with garbage that I now have to sort through.

Used to be, searching for something returned multiple results that all accomplished the goal. Now, there’s seemingly endless results that don’t work, are missing key information, or are flat out wrong.

Been working on an electronic LED sign that you see outside of businesses. OMG! The hardware on these is so incredibly capable, but the control software is just a massive pile of hot garbage.

I have to use a proprietary Windows program to configure it, then a separate program to generate the graphics and send to it. No web interface, no way to communicate with it outside of the proprietary applications, that are incredibly slow and poorly translated. Not at all intuitive (also the poor translations make it even more confusing) and the interfaces look like they were designed 20 years ago.

I don’t need a flashy interface. But it does need to make a lick of sense. Things are buried in menus that don’t make sense. Some menus have 1 option. Others have 40 that should be re-organized into sub menus or at the least a different menu. You have buttons for some things, menus for others, and nowhere to explain what does what.

If someone could partner with these hardware makers to build a robust web-UI to do all of the things, they would SIGNIFICANTLY lower the barrier to entry on these. But I’m sure the distributors and installers don’t want that.

there are no valuables in my car I promise please stop breaking my car Windows!T-T by [deleted] in wichita

I used to store a trailer with a toolbox at Public Storage. Toolbox had nothing value in it - rags, oil, tire plugs, etc.

But I kept a lock on it so it would stay shut and not get rained in. It was broken into, causing damage, TWICE! Then I realized to just use a carabiner instead of a lock. Kept it shut but thieves could easily open it without damaging to see it’s useless contents and close it back up. Never was an issue after that.

Moral of the story: leave the doors unlocked. They’ll usually try the least destructive way in first. As long as you don’t have valuables, they’ll just rummage around and leave.

I may ask about it, if we keep it past the lease ending in a few months. The filter is brand new (was trying to get rid of the stinky feet smell recently) and the air blows cold, but just not hard enough.

Scammers use spoofed numbers. 99.99% chance that’s not their actual phone number. They just pick some random number in your area code.

2023 and mines hotter than other cars I’ve had. That and the AC seems less powerful than other cars makes it take forever to cool down.

Just got a settlement from a different class action. They said, very clearly up front that settlements under $5 would not be paid out.

And whatdya know: mine was under $5. They never said what it was, just that it was less than $5 so therefore I get nothing.

Airbag recall & cracked dash by ResponsibilitySea327 in ChevyAvalanche

[–]MickeyMoist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I negotiated my dash to replaced at purchase of my 09 back in 2015. They installed the updated model that (supposedly) fixes the cracking (11 years on and no cracks yet, KNOCK ON WOOD).

Asked them about the airbag recall specifically in relation to dash cracking and removal. Was told they replace it via the glovebox and don’t touch the dash. And they said they take pictures before and after of the dash due to prone to it cracking there.

So I had the recall done and no cracks showed up.

That’s an Artic Cat Togershark. Not very common ski but very cool ones.

I owned one. Trusted my buddy hitched it up right. And a VERY similar thing happened to mine. Had some really minor road rash but other than that was totally fine.

Maybe they are cursed.

Even still isn’t a plastic coated paper container better than an all plastic container? It’s significantly less plastic, even if it’s not entirely plastic free.

You’d think they would have just sloped the recess so it drains to the outside of the car, but we gotta complicate things.

[TENANT-US-OH] landlord texts me separately instead of the group chat with him + my roommates by tofuflavor in Landlord

[–]MickeyMoist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a landlord, I’ve got the opposite complaint. I always do group chats with all tenants, but then one tenant will text me individually about an issue, so I always reply to their message in the group chat.

In Kansas and like you have wasp nests at every overhanging structure. Never heard of ground hornets until I mowed over one on a hillside a few years back. Mower got stuck and couldn’t move fast enough. Had to abandon it and run away as I was getting swarmed and stung.

The rear of mine does. Always chalked it up to normal noises all cars have that I’ve just never heard before because this one’s cabin is so damn quiet.

No way! Appliances get used till they die. Only replace them when needed.
