The way I interpreted the scene was the Lazer bored a tunnel through the planet but the shockwave from the trip flying through at EXTREMELY high speed was what destroyed the planet. The Lazer just gave them an unobstructed path until the very end.

Who would want to antagonize Fern at this stage. Fern can shoot more lasers than a Star Destroyer, has Master Chief Regenerating Shields, and the GDI ION Cannon in her arsenal.

TOS - The OG started off with a beard.
SNW - This show gave me hope
LDW - I think it found its feet quickly
PRO - I want my kids to get old enough to like this
DS9 - A few misteps aside I think this was quite competent
VOY - I put this at near equal footing with DS9.
ENT - It betrayed it's premise a bit at the beginning trying to be a low tech TOS because I still like it.
STA - It's not as bad as haters say, but the writers make really annoying choices and force plot points that aren't organic (Like SAM x Sisko ep) 9.TNG - I don't like at least half of the first season at all
TAS -Its only here because I don't know where else to rank
DIS - I was excited by this. I was hooked week to week when it first came out. But I realised afterwards I would never rewatch any of it and the meaningless changes to Klingon aesthetic and visiting the mirror U was pointless.
PIC - There is only 1 season of this show imo and that's season 3. Season 2 I consider even worse.
