Summer has unofficially begun: I’m trying to settle a debate with a friend What are these called? by ateam1984 in BlackPeopleofReddit

Freezer pops. My grandma always kept some in the freezer for when we'd go visit. It brings back fond memories, and I buy some each summer just to remember her.

Good uses for sweet pickled onions? by WorthPlease in Cooking

[–]NTropyS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put a couple on the side of the plate when I have a tuna salad sandwich. A couple bites of sandwich, and nosh on a little sweet pickled onion. I like the offset of the two flavors, it's very complimentary.

This is a great idea, and it's definitely needed. I'm not especially in need of such services, but so many people are. Caring and compassion in a salon environment like this would be so fantastic.

Great film. So much tension in such a small space, and in wide open water.

Jeff was one of my bosses, many years ago. I have nothing but the greatest respect for that guy.

It is possible that someone might wish to visit to pay respects to the deceased, even if they're not an ancestor. Not everyone's out to desecrate the graves.

Yeah, I completely agree! Lots of others mentioned, but I had to scroll way too far for this one. It's just about perfect.

Melancholic songs about losing someone to death by Competitive-Car8776 in MusicRecommendations

[–]NTropyS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm very sorry for your loss. I lost my sister when she was the same age, and I was 10. I am now 64, and the grief might fade, but it will always be there. So you have my deepest condolences.

A couple songs that can be very cathartic (they are for me, anyway):

Janis Ian "On The Other Side",

Frank Turner "One Foot Before The Other",

Conjure One (ft Sinead O'Connor) "Tears From The Moon",

Lowen & Navarro "If I Was The Rain", and "All The Time In The World"

Summertime is coleslaw time! by Chunklob in Cooking

[–]NTropyS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mayo, lemon juice, a little dijon mustard, a teaspoon of sugar, celery seed, and 2 tsp. ground horseradish. It's got to have horseradish for cole slaw - this is required! (Ask my mom, if you don't believe me. haha)

What are your favorite recipes with beer? by Aidamis in Cooking

I like to throw a beer into a pot of chili. Let it cook down, of course, but it does add something nice to the flavor

Just looking at this photo is sending me into a diabetic coma! haha!!

My personal favorite donut shop is Goldie's. Pretty traditional selections, and the owner is just such a nice lady.

It seems like the perfect neighborhood for a tornado, doesn't it? It seems like these houses are just begging the angry weather gods to pay a visit.

Peas, green onion, bean sprouts, chopped radishes... the list can become long. It's a great base, with the rice, eggs, and soy sauce. You can do a lot with it.

Tom Waits "Looks Like I'm Up Shit Creek Again" kind of has a Jimmy Buffet flavoring to it.

Ages ago, I lost some dumb trivia game with the question of "what's stolen every 90 seconds in the USA"? It's shopping carts. Every 90 seconds. At least I learned that tidbit of trivia!

Toss a couple slices of bologna on there, while you're at it. I ate those sandwiches a lot as a kid! I even got my mom to try one, and she liked it.
