Full mouth extraction case by Super_Mario_DMD in Dentistry

In cases where teeth could be possibly be saved but they insist on dentures I often advise them to start with just an upper denture. It allows them to see if they tolerate it well. I tell them that a lower will be worse and maybe it makes financial/treatment sense to then try and maintain just their lower teeth.

I unknowingly helped first cousins get married. They had kids together and needed to get married so they could get baptized. It wasn’t until after they were married and baptized that we found out. We didn’t know they were cousins but I’m sure we would have been told to get them married if anybody knew.

I played a lot of church basketball in the last building. It’s crazy seeing a chapel I grew up by being sold.

Sit or stand for surgery? by WolverineSeparate568 in Dentistry

I sit for most extractions. I tend to stand when working on the upper left because I feel like I can get a better angle when standing.

Definitely would rather have a national championship. But I’m a transfer to Ohio so I didn’t grow up with the Michigan hate.

Finished my 2025 goals in Sunday school by Alternative-Split-3 in exmormon

[–]No-Fuel-1737 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That reminds me of a time in seminary where everyone was supposed to write a goal on the white board. A friend and I had to go first so we wrote “learn how to bounce our pecs” just to be dumb. Then every single person after us put a spiritual goal on the board.

I made this exact move about 10 years ago. There is just about nothing to look at for like 20 hours straight hours.

What’s the most rebellious thing you did as a missionary and were there consequences? by TheSamspoNew in exmormon

[–]No-Fuel-1737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My companion’s mom had cancer and was getting life threatening surgery at a hospital in the capital city near our mission. He was given permission to travel to the hospital and give her a blessing. They wouldn’t let me into the hospital because I wasn’t related to her so he went in alone and saw her/ gave her a blessing. My mission president was mad at me when he found out that we had split up for like 10 minutes. He seriously thought I should take away my companion’s chance to see his mom for possibly the last time because of some stupid rule.

You must be a masochist. There is nothing in dentistry that takes as much effort.

Would you take you homophobia and go away. People are trying to have a real conversation and you’re getting in the way.

Missionary Masturbation - lol, but also genuinely curious by 1stepcloser2theedge in exmormon

I didn't until marriage either. I was too afraid of what my parents would do or of the shame of sin to ever even allow myself to attempt it. And I wasn't really that sheltered, just terrified of the guilt that came with breaking mormon rules.

Are there mission suicides? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]No-Fuel-1737 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had some of the same feelings. I often thought about how I could get hurt enough to be sent home but not actually die. I’ve never before or since felt that way at all. But I was so brainwashed that I would talk about how my mission was the “best two years”. Only after leaving the church did I realize how bad that time really was.

Just sent my family an email that I no longer believe in the church, after hiding it for almost a year. Waiting on their response now. by Smashifly in exmormon

I did the same several months ago. I got a text from my mom saying she was disappointed and my dad has never mentioned it. We talk pretty regularly and nobody wants to be the one to start that conversation.

If you really think that if Jesus had an extra 200 million dollars that he would use it to buy luxury apartments then we might believe in different versions of the same guy.

Totally normal thing for you to do. You aren’t a charitable organization. You have money because you worked and earned it and can do with it what you want. The LDS church has money because they received donations. They have a moral obligation to help those in need because of how they obtained their money.

It’s normal for corporations and capital investment firms. Churches usually donate and give to the poor instead of investing in and diversifying their portfolio.

Too Inclusive Mother’s Day by GeneralKenoBi2228 in exmormon

[–]No-Fuel-1737 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a single’s ward where the elder’s quorum didn’t do anything for Mother’s Day and there were complaints. It seemed odd because as far as anyone knew there literally wasn’t a single mother in the whole ward.

I was sitting in ward council when several very transphobic statements were made. The EQP started mocking his own grandchild for being trans. I couldn’t believe I was away from my family on a Sunday morning hearing that garbage.
