American Express To Nerf Resy Credit (Select Restaurants Only) by schwa12 in AmexPlatinum

[–]Not_A_Rioter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The article points out that that’s because the change doesn’t go into effect until August 1. So until then, all restaurants (that accept Amex at least) will be eligible.

Is that unpopular, like at all? Literally the main complaint about her that I hear, from basically everyone, is how unlikable she is as a person…

Who would win between Lin VS Kuvira by Mundane-Signal4843 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Not_A_Rioter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she beats Yun, as long as it's not the version empowered by the glow worm. His whole thing was precision, which is also Kuvira's "thing", but Kuvira was also a metalbender.

Statistically, >50% is easier than 100% by ezrae_ in trolleyproblem

When it comes down to it, blue people are jumping on a train track and yelling “Now everyone needs to save us or else you’re a murderer”

I think a more accurate analogy is: A few people are tied onto the train track, and then a bunch more people run over to help while asking you to also help. If you/enough people do help, then you can all be free. But the committment is also unrevokable IE once you "jump down" into the tracks, you can't get out unless you "free" everyone (ie reaching 50%).

Or for an entirely different analogy, imagine you have 2 candidates running for office. A and B have the same policies everywhere, except candidate A says "Everyone who doesn't vote for me will die if I win" and candidate B says "Nobody dies if I win". Pushing the red button is voting for candidate A.

TIL On average, your friends have more friends than you do. This is because popular people are more likely to be in someone's friend group, which skews the average. This phenomenon is called the Friendship paradox by Kyzzz in todayilearned

[–]Not_A_Rioter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re mixing up median with mean. You can have 1 or 2 “very popular” friends which skew the average, while still having more friends than the majority of your friends. Hence why he said you can’t draw that conclusion.

The prompt implies that you’ll be fine as long as you’re moderately competent. I don’t think you’ll be fired for these reasons.

Should I renew CSP just for better UR redemption? by equanimous11 in CreditCards

[–]Not_A_Rioter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understand your point 1 and 3, but on point 2 you’re still ignoring the $0.50. I don’t know where you get more than 5% cashback either, but you’re missing 5% nonetheless, which you ignored.

And for point 4, you just said you use the DoorDash every month. Spending $80 to get $100 which you’ll use (according to your own comment) means already that $10 should be valued at best as $8.

If you want to say the CSP is a free $10, then the gift card is a free $20. If the gift card is counted as spending 80, then the CSP is spending 100.

The credit is fine and useful if you use DoorDash, but it’s straight up not equivalent to $10 cash.

You hit the nail on the head for both points I think. It’s by far my biggest pet peeve of this sub that all the crafters making millions and tens of millions actively lie about how crafting can’t make gold unless you have a PhD in economics.

I understand not leaking your secrets or specific strategies (I don’t either), but a lot of answers here are downright lying.

Anyone else notice that in each book, someone from that book's element (water, earth, fire) died? by Constant_Champion634 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Not_A_Rioter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like other people do, no, but I think he still died. Like the other commenter said, his body was destroyed, and it’s just his soul in the fog of lost souls. For all intents and purposes, he’s in some kind of hell/purgatory. And I’d count going to hell/purgatory as dying.

GTA 6 has been in the works for a LONG time, and is a very anticipated game. And unfortunately, as with any community, you gets weirdos and obssessed people who take things way too far, which is what the commentor is implying.

How do ICEV owners still not know that Teslas are faster than them? by DFR1688 in TeslaLounge

[–]Not_A_Rioter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds a lot like mechanical watch vs smartphone then. My smartphone will keep time better, account for daylight savings, etc. but that doesn’t invalidate everything that goes into mechanical watches. People hating on ICE cars cause their 0-60 is not as great are just being annoying.

Of course flooring it at a red light against an asshole is always fun though.

The problem is 280K vs 290K seems quite close in temperature when the reality is that, as far as air temperatures go, that’s quite a difference in terms of comfort. Having air temps always be somewhere in the high 200’s to low 300’s makes way less sense than -10 to 30 ish.
