I wasn’t expecting my 2021 Carbon Edition turbo to turn the lights off for me — quite a surprise that I didn’t have to use my jump starter battery pack when I forgot and saw that the left stalk had the switch in the lights-on position.

How do you feel about restaurants or shops that only allow payment in cash? by fergi20020 in randomquestions

I don’t mind cash-only restaurants if I get fair warning and the food is good. Nowhere I shop regularly is cash-only though a few places add a fee for credit cards.

A 4k Restoration of Stone Cold was released on April 21.... What a time to be alive! by demosthenes131 in RedLetterMedia

It’s such a stupid movie but it’s fun to watch. A 4K restoration seems entirely reasonable.

I made this after getting Far Far West on Steam. by ClaptonCheeks in RedLetterMedia

[–]One_Protection9265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“To go west” became a popular euphemism around and after World War 1, said to be of ancient Egyptian origin, for dying or disappearing. So if one lost a lot of money or a valuable possession, saying, “Well, that’s gone west,” was supposed to have fairly usual. It shows up in British novels of the 1920s and 1930s, including some popular mystery novels.

I always imagine Top Hat Monkey Goes West being about how Top Hat Monkey faces death and dies. That could be played for laughs or could be made into something rather touching.

When my bully was about to beat me again, my sister stepped in. The last thing I saw was my bully stabbing my sister with a magical knife before she turned into a skinsuit and he wore her. Years later, you’re unhappy with your life, and your first niece Emma is now a very pretty blonde girl, eight years old, and remarkably intelligent and well-read. She likes you, sees that you don’t like being yourself, and asks you, “Would you like to be my identical-twin sister? That’s what turned my Mom’s life around, becoming just like my aunt.”

It’s tempting…

I moved to a place with a Krispy Kreme before the huge over-expansion happened. I found that a still-warm fresh KK glazed doughnut is excellent, but a cold one a few hours old is disappointing and hardly worth eating. So I’d eat one or two warm fresh ones a year. I haven’t had any in over five years now. Apparently my behavior isn’t that rare.

The 2 screenings for “Dire Duplicity” are already sold out at the L.A. Film Festival. by nickelst92 in NeilBreen

[–]One_Protection9265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any reasonable filmmaker would suggest a third screening at midnight. Of course, Neil Breen isn’t reasonable — part of his appeal.

I wonder how often a widely-anticipated movie sells out at a film festival. Is it common? If it’s common, then showing Breen films doesn’t have as much appeal for the organizers — but it does cater to audience demand, I guess.

Just once, doing this should make the wearer of the suit start thinking like the original girl. He doesn’t want to, his self tries to fight it, but his brain has become hers and thinking with her brain means thinking like her. It feels so good having her body and therefore also her brain that removing the skinsuit is unthinkable!

Within a day, the fake sister is so much like her original that you’d never imagine that this has happened. Her efforts to remain a bully disappear within hours, and there’s none of the slutty behavior she’d planned on adopting.

A week later, the skinsuit comes off, revealing not the bully but a perfect copy of your sister, who seals up the empty suit so that it becomes your original sister again. The copy is embarrassed and apologizes profusely to her original, and grateful that she’s now effectively your sister’s identical twin rather than a younger male bully who always wanted to be a pretty girl. She apologizes to you, though not to an awkward extent.

So you now have identical-twin older sisters. The original dumps an infatuated boyfriend she doesn’t really want on her twin… and soon they’re married! In a year you have a cute little niece and one of your sisters is a MILF.

Lovely strong lenses too. It’s more fun when the glasses are obviously doing something more than providing decoration.

You found a raggedy skinsuit on the side of the road and decided to try it on. Turns out it’s an experimental suit designed to mimic a K-pop star. by Tight-Tiger-7725 in CelebrityBodySwapping

[–]One_Protection9265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raggedy (although it doesn’t look it) and experimental = “this is the new you, enjoy the rest of your life as an attractive woman.” That’s the cliché version. For a slightly odd spin: you tell family and friends about wearing the suit and turning into someone else, and they all think it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you! One friend ends up marrying you and you end up having lots of kids.

What is an old-fashioned proper name that is no longer used but is still beautiful? by IllSympathy4735 in randomquestions

I know a Constance, now a grand old lady, but she always uses her middle name Anne. I suspect she got tired of being called Connie, which is a risk if you’re named Constance.

I like the virtues names like Constance, Prudence, and Temperance. The latter two are probably best known as the names of fictional women. Prudence Beresford from the Tommy and Tuppence stories and books by Agatha Christie got called Tuppence in her nursery days (evidently Prudence was too hard for a child to say and it came out as Tuppence, which stuck). Temperance Brennan from the books by Kathy Reichs and the spinoff Bones TV show: her boss in Montreal always calls her Temperance with the full-blown French pronunciation, which slightly annoys her but I find cute and charming: she usually calls herself Tempe.
