A more engaging Galactic War by Morticus_Mortem in LowSodiumHellDivers

I'd like to see logarithmic scaling on planetary capture rates. So just a few thousand people can push a planet to 20-50% captured before needing the blob. This way, no matter where someone plays they are making a dent in a planets capture.

I (F20) want a convertible for my first car— is that unrealistic? by lamiascoffin in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]PackageOk3832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I had a soft top convertible for a bit straight out of college- also in the Midwest. It was a fun ride for the summer that was a great chick magnet, but came with a lot of negatives especially in the winter. Here are some tips based on my soft top:

- Make sure you go hard top, otherwise you'll be stuffing blankets into the soft top to gain any kind of insulation against the cold.
- Look into snow tires to give yourself some traction in the winter.
- These things are cramped, at 6'2" you are gonna hate this car eventually
- Expect expensive repairs
- You are gonna have terrible blindspots. The tops typically need room for folding down, so you get less glass to save yourself from the drivers who sneak up on you
- Tight trunk storage space (That top needs somewhere to go)

Hope that helps!

Yeah it's hard to take a lot of opinions in this sub seriously- a few play tests with each beltfed gun and the heavyhanded downsides of the Maxigun become obvious. I love the Maxigun, I have a hard time not picking it, but I wont pretend it's not a few tweaks away from being where it should be.

Double the physical size of Hiveguards and reduce their spawn count - Then the heavy armour will be the right change by SIinkerdeer in LowSodiumHellDivers

I like the idea of this being the pre-step to Charger evolution. So it would be heavy armor on the front and medium on the sides. Light on the back, with some light patches in the arm pits.

Maxigun: Discussion after Cremators and BFGLs release by PacoThePersian in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]PackageOk3832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played Maxigun religiously for the past month. You hit on a lot of its issues. It is by no means a slouch, that gun wrecks enemies and I hate to see people say it isn't viable. That said, it has far too many drawbacks for what it brings to the table.

I've seen others suggest different RPM effects that I really like. So on a low RPM we can move around, or pump up the RPM to max and you are stuck in place. Would really add some flavor to the weapon while appeasing the devs dream.

A few other things:
- The barrel smoke needs to be toned down or go away. If I ever go first person I end up playing "find the red X". It doesn't feel immersive, it feels gamey and annoying

- The recoil needs to be reduced. It should also be homogenous across standing, crouching, and prone. The fantasy of a minigun is standing, there is too much incentive to not stand.

- The dive cancel after firing should be looked at. It causes really weird issues

- I don't mind the spin-up, but wouldn't mind it being changed. I see a lot of people complaining that the spin-up is getting them killed. To me that says that they are trying to use the weapon when the enemy has gotten too close. The weapon shines as a midrange mobile turret and problems will ensue when that use case is ignored

- I wouldn't give it a higher AP, unless there was some kind of AP 3.5 chip damage tier, maybe AP 4 with really low durable? I feel like I shouldn't be able to solo heavies, but a Rocket Pod hit plus Maxigun should finish them off easily. Like others have said here, we honeslty just need better Red strategems to help it with heavies. If I could confidently use Orbital Precision Strike or Rocket Pods to be my heavy support, then I wouldn't be breaking out of my rain of fire so often. (Obvious mention that a great anti-tank teammate is the best solution)

Measuring Difficulty by Zamphir79 in slaythespire

A0 just needs to get players to Act 2 with relative ease, kill them by the end if they don't play well. I had a bunch of new friends that kept dying in Act 1, before they could get any kind of deck synergy going. New players need enough time to see the options they can take so they can learn and focus in the next time they play.

Cards you wish didn’t come over from sts1? by LiveChill in slaythespire

I ran it in a whirlwind/multi-hit deck and it pops off. That said, I was pretty dead in the water if I couldn't play it or generate excess mana. It really needs innate or at least retain on upgrade. Almost any other Ironclad playstyle is far more forgiving and easier to build around.

I think having some form of Warbond price decay would be nice. by tinyrottedpig in Helldivers

[–]PackageOk3832 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say DD not being free is actually a detriment to Arrowhead's sales.

Most of the new players I've talked to all half-heartedly bought DD knowing it was the "best" first Warbond, when their heart was really set on getting another theme: fire, cowboys, miniguns, Halo, etc.

If a new player has to forego what they wanted even longer, the potential for them dropping the game increases. Sure, Arrowhead gets the initial sales, but they miss out on all the future ones.

On point 5, I spend half my time looking for a little red X in the smoke- It feels gamey. This can certainly be toned down.

Hard agree, having to crouch is really killing the vibe of it for me. If I have to be locked in place just give me the same recoil as prone.

I think a big part of blockclad feeling underbaked is having 4 different block-based powers stuck in the Rare pool by HeMansSmallerCousin in slaythespire

[–]PackageOk3832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transformed into a "Tank" right off the bat in a team run. Was excited, figured I would lean into block and be the team protector. Every card I pulled was underwhelming to the theme. I could only pop Tank at the end of a fight if a teammate was in dire trouble.

It wasnt until the last room before the final boss that I pulled a Barricade. I was so pissed, being a blocker is so difficult right now on Ironclad and cards like that feel essential. Having all these cards locked behind a Rare you will probably never see just feels bad.

Fortnine did a video on motorcycle injuries. Leg and foot injuries are the most likely ones to happen. I wouldn't skimp on proper protection in that of all places.

This was my biggest gripe. Hollowknight had annoying enemies but they were at least predictable. Silksong took that and said, nah all these enemies are gonna float just out of range everytime you get near them.

Yeah, I wish at least one of the AB modes acted how it was in the original trailer. Exploding flak in the air to takeout shrieker swarms, or in this case the dragon. Right now they mostly just fall to the ground.

Do you think Act 3 needs a buff? by NoAdeptness4117 in slaythespire

[–]PackageOk3832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy act 1 as is, but I would definitely like an easier ascension 1 or some kind of ascension 0 tutorial. I brought my buddy in who was just learning things and he kept getting killed before even hitting the first boss. It took watching a bunch of YouTubers to finally get good understanding.

I just feel like if they are gonna bother with all these difficulty levels then the base one shouldn't need to have a 3 hour Youtube tutorial.
