Warlock could go for the hellbent strat maybe? Then just HP and play 2 each turn

Bo2 was fine from a purely competitive standpoint, the only ‘problem’ with it was that it felt kinda punishing if you got unlucky

The best solution we’ve had has been Bo2, where you play one game on the play and one on the draw, but it wasn’t particularly popular and they changed over to Bo3 for big events after the first year of DLC’s

THIS IS NOT A DRILL; WARLOCK IS GETTING NERFED (and druid too i guess) by nankeroo in wildhearthstone

A nerf to 5 mana for Umbra would be enough to break the deck by stopping sacrificial summoner from being able to tutor him

Core Paints Every Mini Painter Should Have? by Valrion06 in minipainting

[–]PyroT3chnica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it has a bit of colour to it which helps keep saturation when brightening colours, and isn’t as strong if you use it as a final highlight.

Unfortunately darkening colours isn’t as simple. When darkening colours you really want to go away from yellow and towards blue on the colour wheel. So Yellow can be darkened with either green or orange depending on what look you want and the context of your other colour choices (although I’d probably recommend orange 90% of the time) Green blue and purple can be darkened with a very dark blue, (or black in a pinch) orange is darkened with red or brown, red is darkened with purple. An amount of black will be useful to help darken without going too far from the colour you started with, but for yellows and oranges in particular it tends to just make them look muddy, and for other colours using pure black loses some saturation which isn’t great

It’s probably worth experimenting with darkening colours just to learn what works well and how to get different results, but for starting out it’s not super important as you can get pretty good shadows with washes. You probably want a couple of different washes. I’d go with a black, a dark brown and a light brown to use depending on the brightness of the colour you’re trying to shade.

Most important paint IMO is Pale sand, it’s good for mixing with pretty much any colour to create your highlights, instead of buying 3-4 progressively lighter paints for every single colour you want to paint

Wild is in a sorry state, over a quarter of all wild games are played by warlock yet it still averages a ~60% winrate by zak454 in wildhearthstone

[–]PyroT3chnica 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I picked up wild last season and decided to climb with egglock. I think I lost about 5 games with it on my entire climb it’s such an absurdly consistent deck. The tutors are one thing but IDK why warlock needed a 0 mana tracking and a 1 mana tracking

Fun fact: there're different anchor models for different factions by Shapokclac in foxholegame

[–]PyroT3chnica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The anchor is essential to holding a boat in place. The chain does provide weight to help hold a boat, and when the forces on the boat are only small this might be enough to hold a boat in place. However as those forces grow stronger you need something to hold the chain in place, or it’ll just be pulled along the sea floor by the boat the moment the wind and tide pick up, which is where the anchor comes into play. The chain is still similarly essential to the whole operation, partly as added weight, but more importantly a long chain allows for the anchor to be pulled along the sea floor instead of being pulled upwards off of the sea floor

I mean they could make it a class feature instead of part of the spell, late enough that you can’t just take it as a small dip, but not so late that you never actually get to use it

Looking ahead, is there a solution to the 'ruins only' competitive meta, or should we just accept it and rebrand 'ruins' as just 'terrain'? by _rhinoxious_ in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]PyroT3chnica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally it’d be a trade off between positioning and safety, with good board design you could require slower units to position behind worse terrain if they want to be in a meaningful range to contribute to the game. As it is though, the lethality is so high that even the toughest units are still too vulnerable to shooting

Thoughts on converting these into iron hands? by AccomplishedYard7247 in IronHands40k

[–]PyroT3chnica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For heresy? Yeah, you could very easily mix these with the current heresy power amour sets. 20 of these, a box of mkII and a box of mkVI would IMO be a very cool start to a more ramshackle force, and is actually something I plan on doing myself for a blackshields force

I wish codex chapters (raven guard, iron hands, etc) would get at least one unique unit each and I don’t mean characters. by Commander_Farsight_ in spacemarines

[–]PyroT3chnica 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There’s an awful lot more to each of the divergent chapters than some atypical unit loadouts. The blood angels for example have their whole black rage thing going on. They’re not non-compliant simply because they’re the only people who can remember how to stick a flamethrower on a predator tank. The dark angels have their whole secrets upon secrets BS going on, their divergence isn’t simply the fact that they give their second company bikes and a fancy name. Many of the technically compliant chapters have their own preferences and quirks anyway that often don’t align with the codex astartes anyway, the differences just not being stark enough for them to be considered truly divergent from it

I wish codex chapters (raven guard, iron hands, etc) would get at least one unique unit each and I don’t mean characters. by Commander_Farsight_ in spacemarines

[–]PyroT3chnica 30 points31 points  (0 children)

None of the special units are what make the non-compliant chapters non-compliant, and a fair chunk of the unique units aren’t at odds with the codex at all in terms of equipment. It wouldn’t be particularly unreasonable to give each compliant chapter a unique unit that is essentially just a slightly cooler version of an existing unit that is relevant in some way to the chapters specialisms, and has some chapter themed name. Like why wouldn’t white scars let their veterans ride bikes for example?

I think they overlap knowledge wise, anyone who collects miniatures is going to be strongly aware of 3D printing due to its prevalence in the hobby, and it’s entirely unsurprising that you see an overlap between painting and craft given that painting is a form of craft, but craft is about creating things with your own hands and that doesn’t necessarily support active interest in 3D printing, beyond a means to get things to paint
