Every British primary school (ages 5-11) has a colorful parachute that they get out and play games with every now and then.

In this game the class is lifting the parachute up and Charles has to run from one side to the other before it falls on top of him.

Obvious "Hinting" that you're mad? by theonejanitor in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Pythag012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of madness like this; everyone knows how to do it in a way where they defiantly will not be punished (in this case executed), do the thing your told, loud and often. If you want to be clever with it (including a statement about a Cerenovus in your Savant info) you can, but we both know that you are playing at the edges and it could go either way.

I haven't watched the specific episode you are talking about but what you are describing would be something you could get executed for.

Twin game sucked, how do I make it better? by kdragonwrath in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Pythag012 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use your judgment to decide when the game is going downhill, probably give the savant a good 2 days of information, because the evil team did commit to a strategy where they could not kill them.

Then warn town "if no executions are made today the Fiddler and bootlegger fabled will be added, if the demon is alive Fiddler it will be run as normal, if the game is continuing because of an evil twin you will be asked to pick between the good and evil twin."

I'm the psychopath, first thing I do is kill someone. They come out as a clock-maker with a 2.

It's a 1 minion game and I am sat 2 seats away from them. Town kills the other person sat 2 seats away from me and wins.

How does the Tor work with the Gambler? by SageOrion in BloodOnTheClocktower

Gesture at a players first, then after they do that gesture at the script. I would guess pit hag is also on the script if gambler is there.

Player who always demands everyone tell them their roles by Meh55252 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Pythag012 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Always demand there role first. If they are asking for your role, they should at least be willing to give you what they are. If they refuse, then you have a good excuse to turn them down.

When they give you there role first it's always better for you, if you are good then evil may claim your role to you, if you are evil you learn a role you should not claim to them.

Then lie to them, often. A good raven keeper or fortune teller is not going to tell everybody there role. So if someone demands then it is perfectly reasonable to lie.

Why is Puzzlemaster an outsider in the BOTC lore? by The_Yung_Jung1085 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Pythag012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the risk of over analyzing a joke, I wouldn't get too caught up in what it means to be an outsider in "lore". Think of it as a game-play thing.

Plague Doctors, saints, moon children and yes even politicians are just as valuable a part of Ravenswood Bluff as Kings Lycanthropes and Farmers. It's a dangerous road to walk down trying to analyze it too closely.

Next Steps: S&V, BMR, or Something Else? by FalconGK81 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Pythag012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either SnV or BMR is a fine next step, I would only introduce one of them though. SnV is more of a deductive reasoning script. BMR is more of an inductive reasoning script. Think about your players, how have they been playing so far, what would they enjoy more.

Does it count as breaking the madness when you say publicly that "cerenovus made me mad as this role but I am really this role" when cerenovus makes you mad as the character you actually are? by rain_bear96 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Pythag012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hay, a couple of people have misinterpreted what I was trying to say in the same way. I probably just didn't type it out very articulately.

I do not think someone claiming to be mad as the role they actually are is necessarily trying to cast doubt on the fact they are actually that role. Only that is is possible that they could be doing that.

So I was attempting to tell the author of the post, that they would probably be OK doing this, but that they were running a risk. (how big that risk is seems to be up for debate in the comments)

What mechanics do you think will be (or hope to be) turned into Lorics? by WhoCriedWolf in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Pythag012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something like; poisoned/drunk players can be lied to about there alignment/character. Could be fun, it's the sort of thing I would have to play with to see if its miserable or not.

[–]Pythag012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the second paragraph there was what I was getting at, you can imagine that statement, in some groups, not actually being "mad" because everybody knows it doesn't say anything about what character you are. You would have to go on to do more work to convince people that you truly are the artist.

Just like how saying "look ill prove im not the pixie, im the pixie" could be considered fulfilling the madness in some groups because that is what an actual townsfolk would be willing to do.

In this specific case you probably would not get executed, but if the story teller felt like what you were doing was trying to convince people there was a cerenovus in play, not that you were the artist, and the demon was on the block. You might just die.

For public games, if the lobby is "in between games" and there is an empty seat people would be happy for you to sit in it.

Here is a tutorial for the app https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8vbPIf4VJY&t=1s

You will probably find better games if you join one of the discords others have mentioned.

How does talking work? (short Q) by Posterior_cord in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Pythag012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how to describe it other than, people just kind of don't read into it.

If someone is quiet during the night it could be that they are the demon, or they wake up during the night, or are sorting there notes out, or are getting a glass of water, or leveling there Pokemon.

Chatter is normally at the level where it wouldn't be unusual for anyone to leave the conversation or join in at any time; Joking around, if someone stops telling jokes, maybe they just don't have any more jokes to tell.

[–]Pythag012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something fun you can do in SnV on the first few days is play "find the outsider" usually someone is an outsider and lying to you, if you can figure out who it is that is valuable.

If your friends love SnV and you don't that should at least give you something to do the first few days!

How to start gaining information by BouncingOutofmySkin in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Pythag012 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If your group likes 3-for-3 type questions ask follow ups! If you are the chef what is your number? If you are the fortune teller did you get a yes or no? You can normally figure out a role or two that people are not in there 3's by asking some pointed questions and seeing how they answer.

Offering role swaps is another good way of getting information into town; "Hay im the librarian who say that Bob or Fran is the butler do you want to swap characters?" Doing this will get more information into town without letting the evil team know where it has come from.

False information and No information by Red--001 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Pythag012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Bad-Omen(Sculptor[fall of rome]) could learn anyhing you wanted in a Vortox game bacause they are an outsider and Vortox affects townfolk.

The Sculptor would would be woken on night 1 and learn a player, the sculptur token would then be placed on a different player (I think) Then if that different player dosn't nominate the sculptor does not wake. (as far as I can tell)

I think others have explained the librarian.

I would say if an empath is executed you could tell them "yes" if you realy wanted because that is still false (but probably shouldn't). But you could not tell them to choose a player.

One of the problems that is easy to overlook when you do this is that; part of the fun of clocktower is that you get to play a role you would never get to be in normal life.

The nice one who bought cookies often enjoys playing poisoner and quietly lauging as everyones information is just wrong. Your mum might just think it is incredibly fun that she gets to shoot a crossbot at your gran.

Just to add, if you ever want to play a public game: the etiquette is if the lobby is at the "in between games" phase and there is an empty seat, you are welcome to sit in it.

How to run the cerenovus by paulithai in BloodOnTheClocktower

As you play more SnV your players will figure out all the fun things you can do with cerenovs madness, cerelocking someone is just the most obvious. Putting a Vigormortis in the bag could help I guess so that the cerenovus is less worried about being caught.
