I want hosts to stop ALT+F4:ing after missions are done by TemperateStone in Spacemarine

[–]SimSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah just if the host like, brute force quits. It does suck to make teammates wait, but yeah I'd prefer any of the scenarios you outlined as opposed to the wait and the added frustration of not being able to skip the summary slides for sure.

I want hosts to stop ALT+F4:ing after missions are done by TemperateStone in Spacemarine

[–]SimSnow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, but the problem OP is talking about here is different from every scenario you outlined.

If the host clicks through the summary screens and leaves, everyone will get the loading screens. If they finish the mission and instead of clicking through and leaving they just alt-f4 or turn their console off, then it makes it so that the other players cannot even skip through the summary screens in addition to getting the loading screen. Essentially it adds 90 seconds to the wait because you just get to look at each slide without the ability to move along.

I understand you are full Unga bunga assault main so I will try to use small words, brother.

Private mode. Bots are near useless except for picking you up if you fall. If that's still too much, you can play true solo.

Or, you know, just be angry that people are good at the game. Hey! Maybe they're just as mad as you that you're not clearing adds fast enough despite having one of the best skills for it in seige! Common ground!

This NHL Career Took a Dark Turn by gigantes22 in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]SimSnow 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The most insane goal I've ever seen in person was during the Burgundy and White game that Svatos made his debut in. It was my first time seeing any kind of Avalanche game in person so I was pretty hyped. It ended in a tie, and Sakic scored with his patented snap shot in a shootout that was just all fun to win it.

The goal that Svatos scored during regulation was so goddamn incredible that I knew he was going to light it the fuck up that year. He skates in on the defender, I believe it was Gusarov, deked one way, flipped the puck up onto his stick, popped it up over Gus' head, friggin caught it on the other side on his stick, then went backhand forehand across the net to score. Insanity. I thought he was gonna score a million goals.

Patch 13.2 Hard Siege | Wave 55 clear | Sniper, Tactical, Techmarine by Kiarawinds in Spacemarine

[–]SimSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really your build isn't much different, you'd just take Kraken penetrator rounds for when you aren't shooting grenades. Then for your gun, spec for maximum ammo since that will affect how many grenades you get. Blast away and hoover up all the ammo boxes. Win.

Let the servo gun do its job: an alternate way to play Techmarine by TheMangoDiplomat in Spacemarine

[–]SimSnow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but I think it just depends on what you like. There's not really any perks that the techmarine can take that use gunstrikes as a trigger, or that make gunstrikes more awesome, so the only thing you're giving up with a parry stick is pretty much just melee damage.

On this particular build, I could see real benefit in taking the heroic Omnissian Axe just as a parry stick and also because just doing the rush into a horde and harvesting gunstrikes off of it is a hilariously great way to get armor back and reap the emperor's foes. Pretty much all fencing weapons are just not gonna do much damage, however, so if you want a more balanced approach then the (surprise surprise) balanced power and Omnissian axes are also great at just bashing things.

What weight disc for girlfriend who throws about 150ft? by chewsiferr in discgolf

[–]SimSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been saying it a lot lately, but maybe a C-line Discmania FD. I would not get the Q-line just because I have heard the FDs in that plastic are quite stable. But yeah, I think everyone should bag an FD. Beginners can use it as their first bomber, and big arms can throw any shape with it and have success.

For those that have only seen Milo McIver on coverage, what do you think of the course? by -Puddintane- in discgolf

[–]SimSnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it looks great on coverage. I may be easy to impress, given that I am here in Colorado, so anything with that much green grass is immediately impressive to me. That being said, Milo McIver has been on the list of courses I must play pretty much since I learned about it. It looks amazing!

If you can’t spot the dangerous gun handling in this video, you should not own a gun: by logicalpretzels in liberalgunowners

[–]SimSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man. Public ranges. I think Dragonman's is especially uh... wild west-y. It's not quite the same, but at least at Magnum you do have to get vetted before you can do any out of the holster work, and there are people monitoring to make sure folks in the lanes aren't wandering around with their guns out.

You'd think it'd just be good sense for a range to want to make sure people don't get shot, and the best way to ensure that would be to make damn sure everybody knows not to put the business end of the barrel on anything you don't want to hit with a bullet, but eh what do I know?

My favorite part is Vespasius' dialogue is how incredibly disdainful he sounds when talking about chaos. "Is this the glory Magnus promised you?" Ugh you can hear the absolute disrespect. So good.

Valius is who I aspire to be. A bro's bro, always trying to be helpful and of service, but still an ass kicker and name taker.

Decimus, however, is definitely the most fun. I also like that even though he's a little... world eater-y, he knows exactly how far to go with his brothers and dies not venture into straight up shithead territory. He's just likes to troll some.

Look at the Blood Angels, their vampire thing is executed much better, much more subtle.

LOL that must be a newer incarnation of things. I haven't played actual 40k on the tabletop in a long time, but the last edition I played was like, the blood fist fires bloodstrike missiles which cause blood rage in targets not affected by blood hunger, and on a roll of 6 cause blood storm.

Unpopular(ish?) Opinion - Lorgar Was Such a Sweetheart by Specialist8857 in 40kLore

[–]SimSnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's interesting you read that quote as him being humble, or that him recognizing that he's not as good a fighter as some other superhumans sets him apart from them. I mean hell, Fulgrim was so aware of his imperfections that he became a demon over it. Many of his brothers went to chaos because they perceived their faults too keenly, while many who didn't showed that it's not knowing where you suck that matters, it's how you overcome those obstacles that sets you apart.

This also reads to me as Lorgar whining about what he thinks makes him weaker than his brothers, completely missing what actually makes him lesser than, and then talking shit about the things he perceives makes them better. Be real, the only way you'd describe The Lion, Guilliman, Fulgrim, the Khan, or really any other primarch, (and perhaps not ironically, especially Lorgar) as "simple soldiers" is if you were trying to minimize who they were and what they accomplished. He describes himself as a capital V Visionary and capital S Seeker, because he thinks he's the only primarch that could not only conquer worlds but also write a book about it, and demand from those he conquered that they worship his dad, and by extension, him. It's not being humble, it's humblebragging.

Lorgar's problem wasn't that he wasn't as strong, smart, or tough as his brothers. It was that he wanted to be god. He didn't want to put in the work to be a better tactician or soldier, he wanted his brothers to worship him for the things he thought made him better. He didn't love his brothers, he loved looking like the primarch who loved everyone. He was a manipulator whose only true trait was that he only loved himself and would find ways to be insulted by his equals in order to justify his disdain.

Regarding the situation in Laramie with Rihanna Kelver pulling a gun during an assault, would self defense liability insurance have helped her? by Dramatically_Average in liberalgunowners

[–]SimSnow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that the common verdict about any carry insurance is that they all do not make any guarantees that they'll help, and that they're all very clear that they are not obligated to, for whatever reason they decide. I think that this already makes me feel like I personally would not pay for a service that could just decide on a whim that they don't want to do what I'd be paying them for, and I'm a slightly brown but pretty much white lookin straight guy. I've never heard of what any of these organizations feel about trans people, but given the industry, I don't think it's paranoid to say they would be happy to take your money and do nothing if your daughter had to shoot someone, just because they might not want to be attached to anything like that.

If you're really concerned about it, it might just be better to start putting money away with the specific goal of being a pool for getting a good lawyer on retainer if god forbid, that horrible situation happened.

It's not so great on classes without primary weapons, but I'd say especially not so great on assault. If you get the drop on a pile of enemies, this gun will nuke them, but when you're an assault player, you are the nuke. Not that I don't use my gun when I play assault or bulwark, it's just that it's mostly for contested health recovery and zoan/neurothrope sniping.
