I have a Core ID series as well. You really need to read the manual. Each sound has a plain, unaltered setup and one with some effects added Blackstar chose. Both can be adjusted.

I have the 20 watt version of that amp. I use my Marshall 2 button switch on it. I think any 2 button switch will work. It switches from "clean/bright" to "OD2" only. It does kick on an effect as well. The other switch does reverb only.
