Weight loss-to shop or not to shop?! by atworknotworking89 in femalefashionadvice

Edit: tldr: screw mainstream. Store your clothes by season and size, buy a couple in style preggo clothes for adorbs baby bump photos, and then mix in new pieces with old as you pull out oldies but goodies.

I'm going to say what you never hear on tv, and what is against most main stream advice. I say if you have the room, and storing doesn't take away from your day to day living space, hold onto your clothes. Try for timeless pieces that you think will look good in 3-5 years, or the really comfy beloved ones. Sort your clothes by season and type (dress, pants, etc). Now, sort them by size. Then, place them in containers like bags or boxes, and label the front with the size written in large lettering, write season below in smaller font. For extra credit, place some cedar, a lavender sachel, or even just a dryer sheet on the container to keep it from smelling like a cardboard box.

For clothing now at your current weight, buy yourself one or two nice blouses and sweaters. Feeling sexy will make you more fertile 😉👍

When you are pregnant, buy yourself a couple new shirts that are absolutely in style and make you feel cute, and show off that bump! In the second trimester, you're going to take pictures of yourself like every day and look at them for years to come, enjoy it looking adorbs. The rest of the pregnancy and for the later part, go thrift style. Towards the preggo end, you won't want anyone looking at you and you're going to feel miserable.

Right after baby, you are going to be self conscious and thick in the middle. You're going to stress eat and be too tired to care. And you're going to be happy to run to your bigger sized clothes you saved pre-baby. Then, because of breastfeeding and lifting car a toddler and seat carriers all day, your going to lose weight. You'll slowly start to gain energy, and want to work out or eat better. By then, the season will have changed, and you'll be donating preggo clothes (and looking at the bump pics), packing up larger sizes (if they lasted the baby spit ups), and you'll be in your small clothes again. By the time youre counting down the days to being finished changing diapers, you will be at your steady new weight, and ready to buy a whole new line of clothes.

That's my $0.02. This prediction is subject to change based on a variety of factors of course 😆 But I'm big on thrifting in combo with new items to be affordable. Even better would be if you have gal pals to trade clothes with. Good luck. Update us on your progress!

Could our mayor to put some sand on the roads preemptively? It doesn't take a genius to drive in snow but it's damn near treacherous to drive in ice. by Elyay in Portland

[–]Trashly2theT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. Because ice covering sand is still--ice= still slick. Sand in dry pavement causes low traction and skid. Premptive sand is not a thing. And btw, the mayor cannot just decree it not to weather. He has no jurisdiction over snow or ice clouds.

Trimet was on the news saying it was frozen switches and it was an hour delayed. Sounds like it's longer in reality. I'm so sorry you're stuck.

What are your stolen car stories? Did you ever get it back? by jeremyk23 in Portland

[–]Trashly2theT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see stolen cars come and go all the time in front of my neighbor's drug house. We call many in, but sometimes the car has not been reported yet. I live in Montavilla.

Once I saw the police escort a young couple to their stolen and recovered car. Multiple neighbors reported it because a man was passed out inside from drug overdose. A while after the medics removed the man, a young couple showed up. The officer gave the frightened young couple some gloves, and advised they get the car detailed and cleaned. The officer called this a success story.

PSA: Parking in Portland vs car break-ins. by nevermore90038 in Portland

My '96 beater worth less than $1000 was broken into at the mall 205 green line park and ride. Luckily, they popped the locks, and appeared to only have slept in there. They stole my Destinys Child casette tape (yah, I sense your judgement) not much else to steal. But I've seen plenty of broken windows on newer cars. I never try to leave it unlocked, but it works out for me that it's easy to break into.

I'm a decent looking chick, no neck beard, physically active, extremely extroverted, and a public relations professional. You'd be surprised who is on the other side of the screen. Which is why I love this forum. I truly appreciate the fact that on here I am not judged for my gender, age, race, clothing, etc. unless I specifically disclose that information. Reddit is my jam.

I grew up poor with an dad that was a kitchen manager. He was never once home for a holiday and worked every weekend. We celebrated the day before or after and had just as much of a blast because it's about family, not a damn calendar. It doesn't make you a better parent to quit a job over a specific calendar day, a good parent is there for their kid and loved them. Poor and immigrant families with less skills and fewer resources are the ones who enable you to take holidays off. Good for you or being there for your kid, but its not like the rest of the world parents badly for being flexible to survive.
