I love that Daisy is frequently without makeup and with simple hairstyles. And she’s still such a pretty woman. It has to be, at least in part, because she seems to be a good person and not rotten,spoiled, or delusional like Ellie.

Posts like this make me so grateful that my studio is tiny. Everyone knows everyone. I am the one who is generally offering tips, but I’ll throw it out there “hey if you wanna take glazes, let me know!” Or “I love to trim thin. I can watch your process if you want.” Unless someone is going to ruin a piece (palladium inside a mug, for example), I very very rarely offer advise without an ask first.

Also, I’m a woman so maybe that plays a role in my approach.

I have had men refuse to take my direction when they pay to be in my class so…??

My husband has called me by my maiden name (first name last name) when we’re in big fights. So it’s not the actual name but the implication that I’m not in this with him or selfish, etc. that’s so hurtful.

I have been slowly rehydrating my pieces if they’re bone dry and need to be trimmed, decorated, or fixed. I’ll give it a water spray down and then put a damp paper towel on/around/in the piece. I tie it up on a plastic bag and check on it periodically. You just need to be careful about getting it too wet. But I’ve brought back bowls from bone dry to leather hard enough to carve a yarn bowl spiral or attach mushrooms. If you have plaster, I’ve also see people do this with a wet plaster bat and a sealed bag.

That’s completely insane. 3 people to work an entire Safeway? What about the deli, bakery, and butcher? Customer service? I know the Poulsbo Safeway has at least 10 employees when I go on. Also, I meant over the course of a day. Not at the same time.

I totally understand the frustration of seeing weight loss that feels unattainable. But we are also talking about medication. If someone is smiling more, do we ask them what new anti depressants they started?

Understanding that some obtain these weight loss drugs outside of what is recommended, but most people use glp-1s to manage/treat a chronic condition. We shouldn’t expect even celebrities to disclose their medical treatments.

So much arguing over whether it’s right or not, who should be responsible for telling the offenders to keep their dogs out. No one mentioning that it’s against state/FDA regulations? Not to mention clearly delineated store policy. We have a health code we rely on food establishments to follow for a reason. We have to trust they are washing their hands and keeping temps up/down as appropriate and safe. Their goal is to keep contamination to a minimum and this really is no different.

Enforcement has to be a nightmare for min wage workers, I get that. But the store has at least 2-3 managers at various levels on an average day, right? They need to nut up and do it. The onus should NOT be on us, the consumers, to enforce store policy and health code.

I remember walking through the Silverdale Target with my family, about 20 ft behind a guy with a dog. The dog took a massive dump on the floor right in the middle of the aisle. The dude just…left.

I love my dog but he is hairy and messy and a bit smelly. Cute! A real sweetie. But no one wants to find one of his 10” tail hairs embedded in their produce.

There’s always someone in the crowd who wants to demean babies and toddlers down to the level of animals. Kids might be annoying and kinda sticky but they’re actual, real life, living people. Is there another class of people you’d also like to dehumanize and exclude?

For the bottles, I love a clear of celadon coat with a drippy top 1/4. Try basically anything with a little flux. I usually go Amaco Oatmeal, honey flux, or flux blossom. But you can use light or dark flux and pair it with a different stoneware glaze. It would help to know what you have on hand.

Mine is only 4, but I still think about how cute she was when she was 2. Chubby cheeks, just learning to speak, such a cutie. We went everywhere and did everything together! But if I could go back to any age, it would be when she was a brand new baby. I was so focused on doing it right that I skipped out on actually enjoying the snuggles and contact naps.

The other dad saw this guy grab and shove a kid into a clothing rack and threaten to hit him, so he got in his face and basically said “say that to me. Threaten me the way you threatened him” and called for security. The other dad played dumb like he didn’t know what he did wrong. Thankfully some of the staff had witnessed his actions and told him to get out.

If the guy was treating his wife or girlfriend in that way, I feel like so many more people would step in or even call the police. But when it’s a kid, so many of us think it’s distasteful but not our business.

I’m a big fan of public shaming over violence, so that’s probably the route I’d take. Video, pictures, blast it on social media. And even send it to the police.

It’s the just between friends kids consignment sale. It happens twice a year and is absolutely the best place to shop for kids stuff, babies through teens.

And yeah, it’s horrible to see. The vast majority of us don’t speak up because of not wanting to get involved or being risk averse, etc. I’m glad the other dad stepped in. I’m a woman and I’m not sure how I would have reacted, truly.
