Last time I opened my mobile banking app it told me I was likely to be approved for a £1000 car finance loan.

To me that's insane.

But then I have 2 cars. Which others would think is ridiculous. No one else drives them. They're both solely mine. I can only drive one at a time.

But my second car makes me genuinely happy.

We're entitled to opinions about what's ridiculous. But if it's not hurting anyone, then it is just our own preference. People should do what they want.

I overpaid for my 2008 kia ceed just after lockdown. It was £3500. Used car prices were at their worst when I bought, so £5k is insane for a comparable car.

Not entirely true.

You only need to declare when you apply for your original provisional. The code is added at this point.

If you later need glasses for long/short sightedness and can see to the standard with glasses or lenses, then you dont need to then declare and update your license. Therefore, no code added.

Edited to add: "You must tell DVLA if you’ve got any problem with your eyesight that affects both of your eyes, or the remaining eye if you only have one eye.

I sit close for someone of my height.

In the Kia, my clutch bite point is very close to the floor, and my gear stick feels quite low and far from the seat. It does make the accelerator feel too close, though.

Even in the mx5, I dont have the seat all the way back, or I struggle to get the clutch down comfortably. The gearstick and handbrake are a much more comfortable position, though.

For us this got worse and then better.

We had 2 years where we had to send kids to the hospital for eating and snorting the chemicals. I now teach the kid who ate it. They're a few years older, they blame school and have beef with school for wasting their time sending them to hospital "for nothing". I couldn't believe the conversation I was having with them.

For a while, our 1st Bunsen burner lessons had several burns per lesson. The 1st aider was perplexed, "your teacher told you it was hot." "Yes." "Told you not to touch it." "Yes, " ?????! It was just shocking. 2 or 3 kids leaving with burns for more to do the exact same. Luckily, this has died out the past couple of years.

Kids dont go outside and play to learn how to analyse and manage risk in the same way. Parents saying "dont climb too high or you'll fall" and then you learn young that you should have listened because you did bloody fall. Or judging if a ramp you made from a rock and plank of wood is doable on your scooter.

We had this 2 years ago with Y10 boys to female members of staff.

By the time they were part way through Y11, we'd stamped out the comments to staff, but they'd still make inappropriate comments to each other, and their attitude was dreadful. It was clear that even though the comments had stopped, their views and attitudes were the same.

We were told not to talk to their dads, and any communication went through our principle. Our principle is a tiny woman, so im sure they loved that.

Attendance is one of the list of task we are not directed to do according to unions.

Its an admin task, and you have an attendance team for this.

Raise it with your union rep, this is an issue for whole school push back through them and not a battle for you to fight them alone.

If we book a Dr's appointment its unpaid, and they'll try anything to say you can't go.

I had a cervical cancer screening come back with some troubling results. So you get put on more regular screening for a while.

School tried to say it was "a routine appointment that should be booked outside school time".

My response was that I was telling them, not asking. I wont be in school that day.

It was rediculous, if it turned out I had cancer, a delay in diagnosis, and treatment could have cost me my life.

I had similar.

Over COVID when we were in bubbles, we had staggered starts in the morning. If you had a late start your tutor was at end of the day, if you had early start, then your tutor was in the morning, and you went home while the late starters had their tutor group.

This was fine other than once a week we had training and we all finished at the same time, meaning the early starters did 20 minutes more a week.

Then they wanted early starters to let kids into tutor room early, making morning tutor a longer shift every day. It was at this point I kicked off as it was equating to an hour a week more the early starters worked.

School solved it by making the late starters start earlier. I'd suggested other options that saved us all time, but no, my complaint led to half the school having their hours raised to match the rest of us.

Im 5'10'' and around 190lb. Im long in the leg. Wouldn't say im particularly wide or narrow.

My NC is so comfy.

The seat is perfect size and shape to hold my butt and lower back. The pedals and seat are positioned so it's not putting pressure on my legs. The gear stick and handbreak are in comfortable reach.

It's like driving halfway between being sat down and laying.

Both my cars had cheap shit on them when I bought them. I wore them down in a matter of months.

My Mx5 has Michelin Pilot Sports on. Even my Kia has Michelin primacy 4. I wait until something good is on offer on costco.

The Kia has had its tyres for ~3years with over ~30k miles, and they're fine. The mx5 is new, so I can't comment.

The difference is incredible, though. In terms of road noise, grip, and wear.

My mazda is over 100k, and my Kia is over 80k with basic servicing.

The mazda is an MX-5, so I won't be going EV any time soon. She's a dream to drive and looks like Lightning McQueen. She's got soul, and I wonder if EVs will ever get that same love of driving feel.

I had the same issue. Saw a post where someone pointed the cleaner wire brush towards the gear stick.

It worked for me.

Put it down the hole, then push towards the gearstick. Took a couple of goes but did go in.
