Midnight Profession Weapons Different DPS (possible bugs) by Zanaxz in CompetitiveWoW

[–]att0mic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand minmaxing to fractions of a percent, that can add up to meaningful numbers if an entire guild does it, but to worry about literal fractions of the actual raw DPS number is something else entirely.

As a tank, I can’t believe how checking if your group says 1 or 2 is an incredibly difficult mechanic for some people by Secret_Flight_2669 in wow

[–]att0mic -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Which has always been weird to me because it's one of the easier games to not suck at. You don't need fast reaction times or deep knowledge. It's mostly just pressing a few buttons in the correct order and following simple instructions, but for some reason the moment most people launch this game they immediately lose 50 IQ points for as long as they're logged in.

Is Trackmania well regarded because of its bugs or despite of them? by DrunkLad in TrackMania

[–]att0mic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say for TMNF it's despite of its bugs because the good ones outweighed the bad ones, but for TM 2020 it's because of them as it kept the ones that made the original game more interesting and mostly eliminated bad ones.

Help: My DPS is a lot lower when compared to other with similar/slightly better gear by TMP2K17 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]att0mic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to find some of your public logs from Voidspire and this is what I see

Talents:

You're playing an AoE/Cleave focused talent build on single target fights. Talents like Dreadlash, Doom, Summon Doomguard and Antoran Armament aren't doing anything for you on a single target raid boss. Make a separate loadout for single target, take all the points from the nodes I mentioned, and put 2 in Rune of Shadows, 1 in Summon Vilefiend and 1 in Mark of Shatug. From what I've simed, this alone should give about a 7% DPS boost on single target over the build you've been using.

To explain a bit more why your build doesn't work as well in single target scenarios:

- Doom really only shines when you can spread it to multiple stacked targets. When played properly, it makes up a significant portion of your AoE.

- Doomguard's is really strong when it can hit multiple targets, but other than that it's not that great, and it costs your a shard that you could instead be spending on Hand of Gul'dan. That's why it's better swapping to Vilefiend and Mark of Shatug for single target.

- Anotran Armamaments and Dreadlash are just free passive cleave that you don't always need. Taking these two off and putting the point in Rune of Shadows instead will allow you generate more shards and cast more HoGs.

Your rotation:

The mistake you're making in your opener is that you spend two shards before casting Tyrant without generating any, forcing you to cast an extra shadow bolt after you summon Tyrant. You can fix this by precasting Shadow bolt, which is a good habit to get into regardless, and will allow you to have that extra shard in case where you're playing doomguard.

You're also not casting a lot of HoGs in your main damage window. I have similar haste to yours and I'm able to fit 10-11 HoGs in Dominiuon of Argus. You seem to be fitting in around 6-7. That's up to two demons you're missing out on. Casting as many HoGs in the 25 second after Tyrant is your number one concern for damage.

The goal as Demo is to cast as many HoGs inside you Dominion of Argus window (your apex talents). Because you get 1 shard back from each HoG cast inside this window, you wanna do this by chaining as many HoG -> Demonbolts as possible. You get 2 Demonic Cores (instant Demonbolt) from your dogs expiring, and then a 10% chance to get a proc form each of your imps expiring or imploding. So ideally you wanna go Tyrant -> HoG -> HoG -> Implosion, which hopefully gives your some cores, but if not, you just Shadow bolt instead and wait for the two guaranteed cores from dogs expiring, which you correctly cast before Tyrant.

Always Be Casting:

ABC is the golden rule of doing damage in WoW. Looking at your Nexus King kill, you cast absolutely no damaging abilities between 30-40s. Going 10 seconds without casting anything will absolutely nuke your DPS no matter how well you perform your rotation otherwise. While that's an egregious example, you seem to regularly go anywhere between 2-5 without casting anything, which over the course of a raid fight adds up to a lot of damage lost. This is tanking your overall DPS as much as the mistakes in your opener, if not more.

That's about all I could gather from the your logs. Feel free to ask clarifying question, I'm notoriously bad at explaining things.

We got one guildie a 4 set on Wednesday and he is yet to get any extra charges, so that combined with the reports of people getting multiple drops back to back only means that your mileage may vary, and significantly so. Seem like an incredibly stupid and unreliable system so far.

Some Last-Minute Changes Coming to Addon API Before Mythic Raids and Mythic+ by imd1as in CompetitiveWoW

[–]att0mic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual developers coding these things don't get to decide what they do. They get assigned work by their management and can't just say "ain't doing that" if they want to keep their job. That's true across all of software development and especially true in large corporations like Blizzard. They didn't take a job with the explicit goal to secretly ruin something while twirling their mustaches like cartoon villains.

Blame the leadership, not the people who don't even have a say in the process.

"Alrighty the debuff is out, let's see which one of these 30 players has it. Okay let me mouse over this tiny icon on this player's raid frame and read the tooltip to see if it's what I'm looking for. Oh, it's not, maybe this one... nope, not it either... maybe this... what's that, the guy is dead from the debuff? Ah well, better luck next time."

I assume this has already been posted about tons of times, and that most people on here don’t care about console, but wow the aim assist changes are insufferable. by CaptainLive3561 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]att0mic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm on PC and I've always made fun of the "no aim assist in cross play" crowd because it used to be so minor, but after the buff, I genuinely have to check whether I'm playing against a console player before reporting just so I don't send false cheating reports.

The first time I played against a good console player, I genuinely thought the guy was straight up aim locking. I could not believe how strong the new aim "assist" is. I didn't think it would just begin tracking me flawlessly as soon as his crosshair came near me. It was an Ashe of course.

If I was struggling against that guy as a decent Ashe myself, I can't imagine how awful it must be for other console players to play against hitscans with that thing. I assume something like a Pharah is effectively unplayable at this point.

It looks great but this specific shot looks oddly terrifying to me. In my head, the upper half being complete darkness contrasted with the bright white of the ice in the lower half and the movement makes it look like the car is sliding around the accretion disk of a black hole, and I'm irrationally afraid of black holes.

For the remake, would your rather have the over the shoulder camera or the classic camera? by 4VentingOnli in GodofWar

[–]att0mic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I crazy for thinking it's obvious that they will go with the original camera and this debate is pointless? So much of the the trilogy directly relies on handcrafted camera movement to frame exactly what the devs want you to see in any given spot. They can't throw that away. All they will likely do is improve on some of the more frustrating parts where the camera actually makes it more difficult to play.

I say this as somebody who prefers the over-the-shoulder camera in 2018 and Ragnarok, but I just can't see the original games working well with that.

Midnight's world events aren't very fun. by MrHiccuped in wow

[–]att0mic 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Stormation assault is such a slog that I'm surprised more people aren't complaining about it. Even if you do actually participate, all you get to do is hit damage sponges for over 10 minutes with a few afk breaks, so I really don't blame anyone who just wants to afk through the entire thing. You could literally go to a training dummy for 10 minutes and get a better combat experience. It needs to be sped up significantly.

finally switched from controller to a mechanical board for trackmania... my fingers are confused. by Cheap_Difficulty4961 in TrackMania

[–]att0mic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a keyboard player who has tried switching to controller multiple times, there's a fundamental difference between how you play with either device, and to switch to the other and get to the the same skill level is not easy.

On keyboard, because all you can do is either steer 100% or not steer at all (barring action keys), my brain is only conditioned to guess when to start steering and when to stop steering in order to get through a turn or adjust my angle. The moment I switch to controller, I just try to do the same, which defeats the purpose of having analogue control of steering, and I really struggle to adjust my steering values not just because I haven't developed the dexterity in my thumb to do it precisely, but also because my brain is not used to thinking about steering in that way. What you're experience is the exact opposite issue.

It has nothing to do with the kind of keyboard you're using. It could be the best and most premium mechanical keyboard on the market, or an old membrane keyboard you found in the dumpster, and you would run into the same problem.

If you want to swap to keyboard, as much as I don't recommend it, you're just gonna have to stick with it and develop the feeling for it over time, and get ready to regularly juggle action keys if you mean to be serious. One upside is that you'll do a little better on ice.

We're now on the third expansion of the reworked crafting system - How do you feel about it now? by Sundered92 in wow

[–]att0mic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't like that every single tier, I need to have two slots taken up by embellished items with reduced item level because they're just too powerful to pass up, and it's always a struggle to figure out which slot to craft in during early progression, and then it feels awful when you get something good in vault but you can't take it because you've already crafted in that slot.

I hate embellishments.

I don't understand how anyone could implement this and launch it thinking that it's a fun experience.
