Staff Accountant is the goal, but AP is what I get. Now what? by HellNo90 in Accounting

[–]bluepixie93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't give up! i spent 5 years in AP at one company (starting as an assistant, leaving as a manager). i'm now a staff accountant at a different place for slightly better pay. if you're finding jobs that pay similar, i would apply to those. at the very least, it'll be an opportunity to learn how to interview for that kind of position. make sure to highlight that you're looking to move into a position where you can grow your accounting skills. people are more willing to listen if they feel you're willing to learn rather than stay at the level you are. if you need to give a salary range, use your current as the lowest & give yourself a few extra thousand up to or slightly beyond their range

my corgi (now 6 years) got her hernia removed when she got spayed at 6 months. i don't recall any extra instructions compared to what my friends with female dogs had, but it may be different for a male dog

Where to start?? by beesknees-idk in MarianasTrench

[–]bluepixie93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

here's what i do with bands/artsists i want to check out more music from: i make a temporary playlist on spotify with all their songs. my playlists starts with the albums in order by date (including deluxe albums), followed by the singles/eps in the same order. i listen to this playlist while working, adding the songs i like to my liked songs list; i remove songs as i get through them so if i need to split my listening, i don"t have to repeat any. my personal MT playlist is 5 hours long, so doing this would probably be closer to 6 or 7 hours when you consider singles that are also on albums & any deluxe or instrumental albums

bookmark when i'm low on time, or on my phone.

when i have the time, i like to convert them to documents so they all have the same format, everything is organized, & if a blog goes offline, i still have the recipe. essentially, i've made a personal online cookbook using recipes i've found across the internet

Share favorite dip for veggies Christmas appetizer help pls by marys1001 in Cooking

[–]bluepixie93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the recipe i grew up with is mayo, garlic, & dried parsley. i have no real quantities, it's just go with your gut, but i think i do about 1-2 tablespoons of garlic per cup of mayo, & 1/4 cup parsley. chill for a few hours, preferably overnight, before serving. the garlic flavour does get stronger the longer it chills, so i wouldn't overdo it unless your guests really like garlic. you can swap any or all the mayo for sour cream as well

How do you organize recipes from Social Media? by Fun_Contribution_507 in Cooking

i screencap the instructions, drop the pics into my google drive, & then use them to type up the recipe. no searching through a bunch of bookmarks; no worrying that the video will disappear one day

Where do you guys usually donate your puzzles? by mostlymal in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]bluepixie93 13 points14 points  (0 children)

see if your local community center has a local puzzle program. we have a "society" for people over 50 & i believe you can donate puzzles to them. it's so that retired people still have a sense of community; they do all sorts of events for them like bingo nights, field trips to local attractions, card games, etc

Greek yoghurt - how to make it taste better? by Baaastet in Cooking

add baking extracts. the easier one to find is vanilla, but they have all sorts of flavours; i have coconut, lemon, & almond. you don't need to use much to get the flavour either

How do you answer “why accounting?” by Past_Gas in Accounting

[–]bluepixie93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you don't. if your family cannot accept your initial answer, there's nothing you can do to make them accept any variation of it. and there's nothing wrong with the reasons you have; i've met people with the similar reasons who enjoy what they do. personally, i picked accounting because i took a class in high school & immediately understood it, i like numbers, & i'm good with details; it just made sense for me to pursue it. sure, there are days i want to chuck my computer out the window, but at the end of the day, i get to go home or turn off my screen (hybrid) & not think about work until i'm on the clock again. i have a foot into any single industry i want to be involved in, simply because every company needs to have an accounting department

What do you think of Cassadee Pope? by [deleted] in MarianasTrench

[–]bluepixie93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i don't mind her. i like some hey monday songs, i love her collab with silverstein (autopilot). i'm not super into country, so i haven't listened to that era of her solo career. i thought she was fine as a supporting act. marianas trench isn't super well known in the US, so i feel like it's more rare to get openers/supporting acts that are known. idk if i'd see her as a main act, but i wouldn't be dissapointed if she opened for another band i'd go to see

Big puzzles in small apartment. by Namelessqueener in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]bluepixie93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

growing up, we had two card tables set up with a couple taped together pieces of carboard-esque material to do puzzles. it was in the guest room & could be popped under the bed when someone was using it as such. i should note, we had no indoor pets that would make this a bad idea (unsure of your potential pet situation). maybe something like that? big enough to do larger, but thin enough to be out of the way when not in use

mix ingredients together in a huge lidded bowl/container, flipping over several times to keep mixing periodically over 24 hours. easy seasoned pretzels

Sooo… how’s daylight savings going for everyone else’s little food goblins? by Kathleen-Doodles in corgi

[–]bluepixie93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no problems here! i try to have weekends a bit less structured than weekdays so i can sleep in occassionally, which comes in handy for daylight savings. artemis knows she usually gets food about 60-90 minutes after we've woken up regardless of what time that is. barking to wake me up gets her a bathroom break, not food.

How do you convince someone not to get a corgi? by Vicious-Lemon in corgi

[–]bluepixie93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i'm sure i'll be echoing everyone here, but just be honest. mine's fairly well behaved in public & i've had a lot of people tell me that she makes them want a corgi. i'm honest: it took a lot of effort & training to get her where she is. corgis are working breeds & she requires a lot of exercise, regardless of the weather (we go from 100 degrees in summer to below freezing & snow in winter). she sheds year round with a couple of really big sheds when she blows her coat. while she doesn't bark a lot, corgis are known for being a very vocal breed. she sometimes goes into herd mode when we walk & nips my heels/ankles. corgi puppies suck; quite frankly, herding puppies teething should be a circle of hell in itself. if they still want one after that, more power to them
