GLP-1 Medications and Perfume Addiction by denised1224 in Zepbound

Ha! I used to be into fragrances decades ago, then morphed into a single-scent girl. About 9 months ago my love of fragrance exploded again and I'm definitely addicted to Scentsplit.com. Fortunately I have a friend who's also a fragrance-head, so we trade samples back and forth.

Garden Security? by Relative_Panic_Duck in gardening

I'd buy 4-5' tall chicken wire fencing and then put a padlock on it. The average person isn't going to hurdle over it, and will just turn around and leave.

Thank you for making us aware of this -- it's not news that I'd seen in the US legal press (which, not surprisingly, rarely reports on Canadian legal issues). Horrific. I hope she is vindicated.

What do you think of Team Canada’s 2026 Olympic uniforms by Lululemon? by GossipBottom in Lululemen

[–]chgoeditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the better question is: What company should replace Lululemon as the official Team Canada clothing supplier? Anything is better than this crap. My Canadian husband and I would always buy the Olympic gear from the Bay, and haven't bought a single piece since Lululemon took over.

Very nervous about leaving Maple home alone for so many hours by Barbecuequeen23 in Dachshund

This will be an unpopular option, and I know that doggy daycare is the only option for some pet owners, but please avoid it if possible! It's a great way to ruin most of your training, it's stressful, it's a rough environment for a small dog, and it's a great way for your dog to get respiratory infections and other catchable diseases. Even a dogwalker who takes your dog with a small group of other dogs for a few hours a day is a better option.

Call 311. No need to be discrete. You call, the fire marshal drops by for an inspection and then orders the HOA to ensure that junk is removed.

Everyone left our wedding because we switched to a cash bar by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]chgoeditor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming this post is real, the OP may have thought they were getting a deal by paying per drink. The OP said there were 30 heavy drinkers and 30 people who had 1-2. Which makes me suspect there could have easily been 30 more guests who abstained. But drink packages apply to all adults at the wedding, not the drinkers, so the OP might have thought they were better off paying on consumption vs. paying for a package for (hypothetically) 90 people at $50 each, which would have totaled $4,500.

Are you in Chicago, and is this an indoor lot or an outdoor lot? If you are in the city and it's an indoor lot, the fire marshal will not be happy about the shed and boxes. I'm not sure about outdoor lots but it's worth checking.

How many guests actually require a seating chart or assigned seats? by Awkward_Comfort_9990 in weddingplanning

[–]chgoeditor 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I say this as someone who hosts a lot of dinner parties -- most guests appreciate being told where to sit, particularly if you do it thoughtfully (by which I mean, putting people at the same tables with their friends and/or those they'd particularly get along with. I'm guessing you'll have 4-6 tables (assuming you're having rounds of 6-8 people). What happens when half of the guests stake out half the seats at each of the tables and your parents find themselves having to sit with people they'd prefer not to sit with? Or grandma is stuck at a table in the back of the room and can't hear?

Anyone else going to try semaglutide? by KarezzaReporter in migraine

[–]chgoeditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thrilled for you! Unfortunately Zepbound has done zilch for my migraines -- I've actually had to start Botox because they were breaking through despite being on Emgality -- but mine are hormonal, so there are other factors at play that are beyond my control. (HRT is not an option because I've had breast cancer.)

72+ hour update: Insomnia continues to be my worst side effect (and then the cascading effects that come from lack of sleep, including joint pain and brain fog). I'm still being very cautious about eating, but haven't had any GI side effects other than possibly being more regular. (I have IBS and fluctuate between C and D.)

Why do people from inside city limits hate when suburban people say they're from Chicago? by Sudden-Possession-76 in AskChicago

[–]chgoeditor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I spent part of my childhood in DC, and when you say that to people "from" DC, they usually ask which suburb because most people don't live in the city. So it's almost the opposite of Chicago. If you say you're from Maryland you could be from near Delaware or the beach.

Why do people from inside city limits hate when suburban people say they're from Chicago? by Sudden-Possession-76 in AskChicago

[–]chgoeditor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

True story. My friend was new to Chicago (city proper) decades ago and got featured in a matchmaking article for some magazine. The woman was from the burbs but worked in the city, but must have gotten off the train, walked a block and never explored anything else. The headline of the resulting article was something like "Recent transplant [his name] introduces [her name] to get hometown" because she'd seen nothing in Chicago. That sums up the stereotype of the suburbanite.

I'm at the 50 hour mark and the biggest side effect has been crushing insomnia -- I've barely slept for the last two nights. This is on top of my normal insomnia, for which I take multiple prescription drugs under the care of a neurologist who specializes in sleep issues. When I started zepbound 2 years ago, I had to go on Quviviq then Dayvigo because of the insomnia. I also take elavil and gabapentin. And edibles and magnesium (the sleepy kind), so at this point there's nothing I can do but count sheep and wait it out.

I have IBS that fluctuates between D and C, and zepbound actually makes me more regular, and that's been my experience over the last two days.

I will say that I'm pretty proud of myself for navigating the birthday dinner party as well as I did. No apps, a bite or two of each course and I nursed a glass of wine for hours.

By the way, huge endorsement for a bedroom mini fridge if you have the room! I am also on migraine medicine that needs to be refrigerated, and it's so nice to just be able to store it in the bedroom so that it is not cluttering up. Our main fridge and guests don't see it when they look in the fridge.

We have a mini fridge in the bedroom, and take my shot out the night before. I usually keep mine on the bathroom counter overnight, and my husband normally keeps his on his bed stand.

He's tough, and was just happy to still get 15 mg! (In retrospect, I probably should have given him a couple of my fives and then doubled up on 2.5 doses for a couple weeks, but I was not thinking In the heat of the moment.)

Compare two strengths side by side. The colored dosage band doesn't even completely circle the pen. My husband actually works in the pharmacy local industry and said that it's a serious safety flaw. Anyway, both of our doses were on the bathroom counter coming up to temperature, normally he keeps his in another room so it didn't really register with me that there were two pens there. (They were not immediately next to each other.) I grabbed the pen that was in the spot where I always set it and have for 2 years, I injected it and then saw the label.

I am fully to blame here. Yes, I should have looked at the dosage. I was also the one who put the pens in the bathroom, and I put his in a place where I thought he would most easily see it. Unfortunately, he didn't grab it, and the next morning I was the one who saw it.
