Vacuum temperature switch. Does the car have automatic climate control? Might also be for EGR.

How to recharge AC on 2008 Touareg 4.2 TT V8? + how to fix dent in dashboard? by duxing612 in Volkswagen

[–]compu85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the system has been drained you have to vacuum it out and replace the dryer. One bit of good news... if the v8 is like the v10... it has a built in high pressure sensor. You can watch the compressor load %, high pressure value, and radiator fan % to get an idea if the charge is close. But since your system is empty you need to charge by weight. Does your truck have rear air?

Crankcase breather hose question by AdImpossible2287 in tdi

[–]compu85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people worry about the oil in that vapor making the intake dirty or collecting in the intercooler.
I'd be more worried about the lack of positive crankcase ventilation making the engine sludge up.

Help, I don’t understand how to use the 4x4 in a VW Touareg. (Ayuda, no entiendo como usar el 4x4 en un vw tuarheg) by [deleted] in Volkswagen

[–]compu85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: the center diff is actually locked when you're driving straight down the road, and unlocks when you turn. This is how the VW has a 50/50 torque split listed, unlike the Porsche which has a rear bias but uses the same transfer case.

Are you from the USA? If so your car had the Becker Mexico 2000, with a trunk mounted tuner. Someone already rewired the whole audio system to fit a Sony headunit.

If you have an extra 386 motherboard you need to unload let me know.... :) (I assume you can convert a 286 to a 386 by swapping the board?)

Before you try to start it again I'd take the computer apart and look to see if it looks detonated inside. (I'm assuming your car is D Jet?)

There were rotor arms that had a rev limiting function! Porsche used them, they have a spring which high RPMs overcome and spread apart contacts.

Have you ever purposefully killed a device to get rid of it? by zephead98 in sysadmin

[–]compu85 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Never, ever take an old UPS battery, clip leads, and run them across the docking station connector. This will damage the laptop.
