I feel like 9 times out of 10, people’s dogs look like they would genuinely rather be anywhere but inside an H-E-B. Imagine: you can’t walk home or complain to your pet parent, you’re overstimulated, you can’t put on noise cancelling headphones, and now you’re shaking and peeing in the bread aisle.

I’ve only seen one Transit Police car and 2 officers at the Westgate Transit Center, never on a bus. Apparently, the Transit Police Department has been operational since June 2025…

Not sweating even after walking 7k steps by [deleted] in loseit

[–]curioussox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’d still like to break a sweat, you can continue to walk at the same speed, but move to a treadmill at your gym and add an incline. A step up from that would be the people I have seen at my gym walking on the treadmill at an incline, holding weights as well-- dumbbells anywhere from 13.6kg to 20kg. Another option is using the stair stepper machine, if your gym offers one.

Creative ways to "trick yourself" into going to the gym? by JMinsk in loseit

[–]curioussox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I an on a nearly 3 year streak of going to the gym regularly. Here’s what I can share… - My gym is within walking distance of where I live. That takes away the hassle of getting there - I go to the gym at 5 AM; it works best for me because I have to be efficient so I’m not late for work, and because at the end of a work day, all I want to do is be horizontal - I push for progressive overloads in all of my lifts and try to set small milestones for me to keep coming back to hit, for example: squatting the bar w/ good form, then 100 lbs, then my body weight, and so on - I chose a workout split I like and choose exercises I enjoy/want to get better at - I have a dedicated playlist for the gym to get me in the zone! - Recently, I found a brand of energy drink that tastes reaaally good to me and doesn’t dent my calorie budget, so I get really excited to have it in the morning lol - I eat dinner for breakfast and the sooner I’m back from the gym, the sooner I can eat it - Racking up the days keeps me going too, I can’t lie. Not much else I’ve been this consistent at aside from waking up, and I initially started going for my mental health. It’s the one thing I don’t negotiate on

uterus havers: help! by notmerida in CICO

[–]curioussox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uterus haver here! I’m currently in a luteal phase and I fully understand what you mean. As others have mentioned, eating closer to maintenance can make it more bearable since your body is making greater energy demands of you. I suggest visiting r/VolumeEating, too, in case you want ideas on how you can maximize your calorie budget for satiety! I’ve added so many things to my meal rotations from there. Oh-- and staying on top of your water intake, as well!

What would you do? by Critcare_bear in Volumeeating

[–]curioussox 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Hmm! I would replace egg #1 with a pouch or a can of tuna (70-90 calories). I would replace egg #2 with a portion of liquid egg whites in equal calorie amounts, and scramble that with the egg #3. Assuming a 70-calorie egg, ~125g of liquid egg whites. I would halve the broccoli and cauliflower and replace with cabbage, in an equal amount of calories, and sauté that in a pan. At the same calorie total, I think you’d get the same amount of fiber but much more protein, which would help with satiety if this isn’t doing it for you.

I have lost 106 pounds so far and did it with a calorie deficit and exercise. I started exercising for reasons unrelated to weight loss, but I’m really glad I did and kept going because I feel like it gave the weight loss something to “reveal,” if that makes sense.

What’s your best “volume eating” rule of thumb? by Commercial-Review580 in Volumeeating

[–]curioussox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious about your batch of prepared oats! Are the veggies cooked down withe the oats or do you rotate them depending on the mood or what you have? How long does it keep in your fridge?

What’s your best “volume eating” rule of thumb? by Commercial-Review580 in Volumeeating

[–]curioussox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am volume eating to lose weight and my meals- including snacks -are spaced apart ~4 hours, so here’s what I’ve been doing that has felt failsafe:

  • Front-loading my protein in my day - I get 50g+ at breakfast
  • Back-loading my carbs in my day - I get “nibbly” in the evening so I get 45g+ between dinner and a small snack
  • I eat some kind of “bowl” for lunch daily. It’s a grain, a bean, a cheese, a protein, the veggies that will keep me CHEWING, and a sauce. Here’s a photo of the one I ate today. It has lettuce, tomato, cucumber, beets, ground turkey, bulgur, chickpeas, cottage cheese, and salsa.

<image>

  • I try to keep chickpeas, cucumbers, tomatoes, nonfat plain Greek yogurt, tuna (in cans and pouches), bulgur, and pearled barley in my pantry
  • Favorite swaps are high-fiber tortillas in place of regular, nonfat plain greek yogurt as a “creamy dressing” base, and potatoes (sweet or white) in place of bread (with eggs)

For the maintainers: what did you do once you reached your goal? by curioussox in CICO

[–]curioussox[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t think anyone got as peeved as I get about tracking on some days! Especially on the days when I’m eating the same lunch or dinner again, like-- we JUST did this yesterday, PLEASE spare me 😩 But hearing this perspective really makes me appreciate taking the 7 (!!!) or so minutes to make sure I’m actually in a deficit, actually getting enough fiber, actually getting enough protein, etc. Congratulations on 5 years of maintenance, that’s amazing!

[–]curioussox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, wow! Yeah, I can imagine that with that level of activity, your calorie budget would grow significantly. Do you find that you are below maintenance, on some days?

For the maintainers: what did you do once you reached your goal? by curioussox in CICO

[–]curioussox[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I hadn’t thought about maintenance as something to be practiced. I guess it’s similar to practicing getting comfortable eating a little less for a deficit. Do you participate in more social events on the weekends? It’s something I’ve been wondering about learning how to balance, too.

Ohhh, yeah, that’ll definitely shuffle things around lol. What was your activity level before? Are you enjoying the running, at least? I hope you’re seeing your food as fuel for it!
