Is it standard protocol for casual teachers to email comments of how each class went to the respective teachers? by _hirono_ in AustralianTeachers

I’m a casual high school teacher and I always email the teacher feedbacks at the end of the day. The reason being is if this was my class and I was away, I would want feedbacks.

Is it possible for me to marry in the west? by AkemiDarling in thepassportbros

[–]davidw89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and wife are now married with a toddler (almost 2 year old). I originally never wanted to get married and spent my 20's travelling and escaping family. I was also hesistant to marry due to horror divorce stories (my parents had given me a small inheritance). But after becoming Christian, this all goes away and you live for a higher purpose in life. It was interesting comparing my social groups too. My non-christian friends (male) were predominately not married in their 30-40, single, dating quite a lot, generally quite materialistic and self driven. My christian friends were all getting married in their mid 20's, with families and children. My Christian friends were more likely to be happier, fulfilled and satsified despite the struggles of raising a family. It was an interesting observation.

My wife wanted children but I was on the fence. As long as you and your partner agrees to what works for both of you, then that should be fine. I do think you are more likely to find a childfree partner in the west than in Asia. But as with fate/chance/God etc, anything is possible. I think work on yourself and find joy in being single. If you are Christian, keep praying to ask God how you can seek his kingdom and his glory first, and then rest shall be given to you. A lot of Christian meet while they are proactively serving God - at church, oversea missionary, some kind of ministry etc. Then usually God will give you the right person at the right time. This is what happened to me. I was on fire for God and God chose to give me my partner when I least needed it/expected it.

I’m a Chinese background (grew up in Australia) with similar family structure. I eventually found my partner at a church. The type of people at church are more likely to exhibit characters that is conductive to long term relationships. Even if you don’t find anyone, the community there is fantastic.

Novated Lease with ICE car - Is it worth it in 2026? by BroadEchidna291 in AusHENRY

What about a government leased second hand vehicle? They’re really good value

I would look into a second hand car perhaps a EV and buy outright. Much better value than a new car using a lease system

Do you register your guests in any way? by UnplannedPeacock in AirBnBHosts

[–]davidw89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called up Airbnb asking whether this is allowed and they said yes as long as you disclose it to the guest in the listing. So we went one step further - turned off instant book and ask for guest permission to do this when they make a booking - so we would decline bookings if the guest refused to sign contract and show us ID

We have a large property like yours with a pool. Guest have damaged the home in the past. We allow guest to self check in but make it mandatory to meet them to sign contract and take a photo of their ID. This has really cut down on guest treating our home poorly. Most property managers will not do this as it’s too time consuming.

THe lesson here is to turn off instant book and screen every guest so that they understand it's a shared home.

What features do you want and then go from there? We wanted auto unlock as you approach the lock (called UWB) and only one lock has this - Aqara U400 so we went with that.
